Hello guys,
The plane ticket to Vietnam is very cheap from Korea, and
I might go to Vientam sometime this month for a few days, just to check it out.

But,
how is the weather right now?
Is it super hot, lots of rain?

and
should I go to Ho chi minh City or Hanoi?
I am not interested in modern culture,
more into traditional culture.
I hear Hanoi is more laid back, slow-paced and pleasant,
and has more traditional culture.
Is that true??

Any info would be appreciated.

Well Hanoi is turning 1000 years old in 5 years while Saigon has just turned 300 a few years back so go figure.

If you want history, culture and charm then go to Hanoi. But if you want excitement and the bustling of a dynamic city then go to HCMC, also known as Saigon.

Weather is abit hot right now. Best time to visit is October-April.

Thanks to all those rains,it's not that inferno here,in Saigon.

Temperature right now is about 22 degree Celsius at night and 29 degree in daytime.

yeah, but the humidity is crazy! Right when I got off the plane, I felt like the heat just swamped over me. And it was pouring rain that day too!

don't ya know that's a blessing?
heat, sun, humidity = beautiful

cold, snow, blizzard = hell

that's why many korean left their country and come to vietnam buying houses , set up businesses and raising their families

that seems to be the trend nowadays. I met a Korean man, who wishes that Vietnam will outgrow Korea one day and he also wants to retire in Vietnam.

^Vietnam is much more diverse geographically than Korea and the climate is more favourable. Vietnam is already bustling and with continuing high economic growth will make it a more attractive destination for expatriates.

Many elderly Japanese are contemplating buying property in Vietnam and retiring there since the cost of living is much lower.

^ Property prices in Vietnam is astronomical for a poor country. The average working folk would have to work for at least 100 years to buy a less than decent house in Saigon.

I'm planning to open a restaurant business in Vietnam but the cost of acquiring land to build my dream business is very high. I'm praying for a burst in the property bubble. Hahaha

So I guess 2010 would be a great time to visit Hanoi? Are there any festivities and ceremonies planned out?
