Who would you classify as a Canadian celebrity?

And I don't mean these people who were born in Canada but had a make-over in America and became famous like Pamela Anderson. I mean the people who are recognized by Canadians as a whole and are well respected and have done great things for Canada and the world. When I think of this question, there really aren't that many I can think of. Maybe it's because that Canadians aren't really pre-occupied with celebs and have better things to think about.
Well?

Mike Myers sticks to his roots- seems like a great guy.
Jim Carrey- well I'm not too sure about that.
Avril Lavigne she sticks to her roots- Thanking Much Music at the MTV Awards, and wearing a Canadian flag at the bottom of her tie.
Shania Twain is her own person.
Celine Dione- after she got her haircut... meh.

Paul Shaeffer - anytime 'canada' is mentioned lettermen looks over to him
Mr. X (lil' X) - producer, about 50-60% of the music video's he produces are done here in toronto
any professional hockey player
Steve Nash
the current World Poker tour Champ (forgot his name, but he reps with a leaf jersey)
Kardinall Offishall, K-OS... a whole slew of Toronto's hip hop emcees'

I'd classify as a Canadian celebrity somebody that is obviously very popular in Canada as well as the rest of the world. Alot of Canadian celebrities aren't looked as Canadian celebrities abroad and that's probably due to the Canuck accent being similar to the standard US accent. To me some that are looked currently as famous Canadians in anglo countries or the west are-

Bryan Adams
Celine Dion
Mike Myers
Avril Lavigne
Alanis Morissette
Barenaked Ladies
Nickelback

Celebrities that are probably on average not looked at as Canadian outside of Canada. Now this is open to argument but I think these people would have to come right out and say it on a regular basis that they are Canadian.

William Shatner
Shania Twain
hate to say it but, Neil Young
Keanu Reeves
Nelly Furtado
Pamela Anderson
Jim Carrey
Leonard Cohen
Sarah McLachlan
Dan Akroyd
Peter Jennings
Martin Short

^Most of these people moved to the US to get big, or moved to the US after getting big.

I say Sass Jordan. She was happy here, and stayed here. Or Anne Murray. Sure she was big in the US, but she still had those Christmas specials on CBC.

I'm sure Trudau and Pearson could both be seen as "celebrities" (in the same light as JFK)

How about Nardwuar?

Neil Young and the Guess Who have the best music to come out of Canada ever.

Although, there are others; Rush, BTO etc. but ^^^^^ are the best.

Anne Murray but then again I'm a product of the 70's and she's been around for aaaaaages. OK, maybe she's not a "celebrity" in the American flavour of the week "tabloid slapper" sense of the word but she's enduring and more importantly iconic. She is to Canada what Dolly Parton is the USA and Olivia Neutron Bomb is to Down Under. She's a long lasting affair. Even South Park made reference to her.

Sarah McLachlan. Classiest person in the music industry, and she sticks to her roots.
