Opening this thread wth the newly completed Haifa District Court.
A huge building with enormous empty spaces, longer than long corridors
and a gigantic waste of taxpayer's money (hundreds of millions of shekels) on a grand but dark and cold edifice. Soon after it was opened it was realised the handrails were horizontal so they didnt fit the building codes, so at another cost of millions the entire handrails you see in these pictures had to be switched to vertical bars! It is also totally closed to the surroundings
and blocks historic footpaths leading to haifa downtown.
All in all - fancy architecture but a bad building for the city.

To quote lawyers who struggle to use this place:
"The building is impressive, but also depressive"

The gigantic 7-floor high "lobby" (imagine the bill for heating and airconditioning all this empty space!)

Corridors run n both sides of it with connecting bridges (too few as well)

The stairs end with a ponted triangular window on the city outside, basically the only connection between the city and this building.

yes well israel surely learned from Francois Mitterran about financing huge
public buildings - in the last 4 years we have built 4 government districts/towers, 5 district courts, the foreign office and ministry buildings,
5 new police hq stations (one in tel aviv opened this week), the Ben Gurion
airport fiasco..
and the list is endless.

What we dont build: new schools, new hospitals..

There was a law passed in the Knesset 2 years or so ago which force to government to build a hospital for the city of Ashdod, in case you didnt know it Ashdod city lacks the basic service of a hospital for its citizen, yes in Israel of 2005 a 220.000 citizens city has no hospital and yet we build huge castles such as the one in Haifa....Welcome to Israel

The Dist Govt Ctr will pretty much be the tallest government building in Israel once it's completed.

A circle and square colide - oh, how original! Like we havent seen this in 5 towers before
