I have see on forum that Nashville is totally underrated and there is no development thread for this city. One Southern guy told me that Nashville has best shopping in South but what about there is no Urban Outfitters, Diesel, Lucky Brand Jeans and other world class shopping. I never go there before, anyone go there before? Was it's good?

Does in Nashville has poor neighborhood and high crime rate in some area? Just name of district.

Just list district name that neighborhood in Nashville are mostly black population. Is any nice neighborhood in it's city proper?

Thanks man.

Nashville doesn't have the best shopping in the south but it really isn't lacking for its size. Lucky Brand is building a stotre in the new Green Hills addition and you can find diesel clothes at local stores like Posh and many of the same brands Urban Outfitters would carry. Poor Neighborhoods would include Bordeaux and most of East Nashville. The rest range from middle class up to super exclusive. Belle Meade is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the nation with Forrest Hills, Oak Hill, Lockeland Springs, and Germantown also offering upscale real estate in the city. "Black neighborhoods" would iclude Bordeaux, Jefferson Street, and Inglewood but Nashville's black population is significantly lower than almost all major Southern Metros.

The title should be "Have you gone to Nashville...", it's present perfect tense;
or better: "Have you been to Nashville..."

Nahshville is a nice town, I like it better than Memphis. It is interesting how some people determine the world class status by what type of clothing is available :sly: . Well, tell me if there's a famous philharmonic orchestra in the cities where you live or a building designed by Foster or Calatrava or any international institutions?

cuz your city was pretty smaller in population but you can go to shopping in Atlanta or Birmingham.

Im in Nashville right now, and I think the city kicks ass. But I would never consider it "world-class" at all. I would say that Bordeaux and the areas north of MetroCenter and Bicentennial Park are the worst parts of Nashville.

Well actually...most deaf people I know speak completely clear English and can type in perfect grammar too. So my experience would tell me that most deaf people in American ARE educated and can speak clearly. Just because someone tells you they don't understand a word of what you are sayin doesn't mean they are bein a troll. I hate people who immediately call out "troll troll troll!" just because someone says something that they don't agree with or don't like.

Nashville is definitely underrated on this forum. It's a kickass mid-size town with plenty to do. It's got its downsides (sprawl, country music), but its upsides are pretty nice and rarely get represented around here. But no, it's not world-class. Nor should it be.

I disagree, most deaf people that who ATTEND deaf school like California School for the Deaf in Riverside or Fremont, Arizona School for the Deaf, Texas School for the Deaf, Florida School for the Deaf and much more differnet of deaf school. Education at Deaf School isn't good and not same skill as public school do. I have been in special education at LA school for whole my life and moved in deaf school since 2003. I SAID THAT MOST DEAF PEOPLE IN AMERICA DON"T SPEAK ENGLISH CLEARLY! That it's so shut up now.

Back to topic now.

People, can you just please cut Blink182 some slack?

His grammar suggests to me strongly that ASL (American Sign Language) seems to be his main form of interpersonal communication. ASL has a grammatical structure based on French. This is mainly because ASL is descended from French sign language rather than British Sign Language and/or Signed English. So, it's not unusual that such deaf people may not write English grammar the same way as the rest of us do.

There are, however, many deaf people I know who have managed to learn to write in grammatically correct and clear English. But many of those people are those who learned to speak orally first and learn ASL later in life. That's how I was taught, too. It may also explain BigDan35's view from his past experience with deaf people. Even though English grammar is certainly taught in both special ed classes and schools for the deaf, those who learned ASL first will have greater difficulty writing in grammatically correct English.

I know all this from experience - I'm hard of hearing, and had a foster dad who was deaf. There were also other siblings in my foster family who were deaf as well. I lived with the foster family in Edmonton because the special ed I needed wasn't available in the city where my real family lived. I went to special ed classes in an elementary school and a junior high school in Edmonton until Grade 7. (the term "7th grade", and so forth, is not used in Canada) I was not fully integrated into regular classes until afterwards, but I chose to remain in Edmonton to go to high school there. However, I had quite a few deaf friends who went to the Alberta School for the Deaf in Edmonton. Like in the US, ASL is also currently the main sign language used by Deaf Canadians, though there are distinct regional variations.

Those special ed classes I went to consisted mainly of hearing impaired children. Unlike at Alberta School for the Deaf, the teachers in my school did not encourage the use of sign language. Oral speaking was to be the main form of communication and speech therapy was used extensively. In fact, I've seen kids get scolded or even sent to the corner for using ASL among themselves. I've heard that there were quite a few schools like that across Canada and the US.

@ BigDan35 - Hmmm, okay. It was a bit naive of me, but I'll admit that I haven't seen Blink 182's posts nearly as often as you probably have, because I don't go into any of the US forums/subforums very often anyways.

By the way, this isn't the first time I've seen a deaf forumer run into that kind of situation where he/she gets picked on for his or her use of grammar. I've seen this happen a lot in a couple of other forum sites.

Well, if you go to Nashville, there's some bars on Jefferson St. Ask around there. The people would be all locals and you'd get truly informed responses to those questions.

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean by this?

His posts usually indicate some fixation on race and fear of black people.

No, it was not meant to be offensive. "To cut someone some slack" just means to tell others to relax and not pick on you.

Yes, I have noticed this also, and I'm getting a little sick of it to be honest. I can completely understand the grammar issue because I once had a partially-deaf roommate who explained that English is not the first language of many deaf people. That I can understand, and I commend Blink182 for making a concerted effort to communicate with the hearing. However, I don't quite understand the preoccupation with race, especially Blacks and Hispanics. Even more questionable is his trolling around the Southeast forums when he lives in Los Angeles (supposedly).
Blink182, my suggestion to you is that you quit scouring the messageboards looking for threads to screw up ( I noticed that you are approaching 2,900 posts and you haven't even been here a year), turn off your computer, and get out there in the real world and try meeting real people. Hell, perhaps you can even try meeting someone OUTSIDE OF YOUR OWN RACE!!! (Imagine that!) Maybe then you will understand that in the end, it doesn't come down to race, it comes down to the person. This is something you can surely understand, being deaf and all.

Oh yeah, I have been to Nashville, it is awesome, and it does have a lot of blacks.

It's a freakin messageboard, guy. Nobody has a right to post; it is a privilege, and I am not "telling you what to do", I am merely offering a suggestion. And based upon many, many, many, many previous postings of yours, your "curiosity" about race borders on outright obsession. Quit making yourself seem like the naive, innocent newbie poster. You're not fooling anyone. You get so upset when others come down on you, but seriously, just look at some of the crap you post. I mean, why in the hell do you specifically need to know where the black neighborhoods are in Nashville? Are you trying to get yourself some black poonanny in Nashville? Seriously.
You may think some other forumers dislike you because of your English skills; the truth is, a lot of what you post is just plain stupid and racist (redundant).
Now go run tell the moderator that I'm harassing you because I disagree with you!

Hmm and why is everyone here who has questioned Blink182 on one thing or another a "fuckin asshole" ??

Just to let you know...Blink182 causes lots of drama on this board and he trolls some threads. If he doesn't like what you say or if you disagree with him he will cuss you out...I know, because he has done it to me.

So I ask...are you sayin we are "fuckin assholes" just because he is deaf? I personally do not give a shit if he's deaf. I think if some guy treats me like shit and gives me no respect at all...no matter if he is deaf, blind, or whatever...I will have negative feelings towards him...as I should.

But, people like you think if someone has a speech problem, or they are blind or whatever they can be the rudest son of a bitch you've ever met BUT you can never be rude back to them, otherwise you are a "fuckin asshole". Personally, I think that's bullshit.
