Tucson is the second-largest city in Arizona and one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the US with almost 1 million inhabitants. The city was founded in 1776 and remained until 1821 under Spanish rule. After it was ruled by the Mexicans until 1853 it became part of the USA. Since 1885 Tucson is home to the University of Arizona, with 36,000 students one of the largest universities in the West. The city is surrounded by the beautiful Sonoran desert which is full of the unique Saguaro cacti.
Until today the city is under influence of Hispanic culture which is expressed in architecture, music and lifestyle. Enjoy the wonderful Southwestern Adobe buildings, a beautiful campus and the small downtown skyline.

When you drive from Tucson up to Mt Lemmon you pass 5 climate zones in 40 minutes. It is like driving up to Canada (with respect to vegetation and climate):

Zone Title Elevation (in feet)
1 COLD MOUNTAINOUS REGIONS 6,000-8,000
2 COOL PLATEAU HIGHLANDS 4,000-6,000
3 HIGH ALTITUDE DESERT 3,500-5,000
4 MID ALTITUDE DESERT 2,000-4,000
5 LOW ALTITUDE DESERT 1,000-2,000

Here is a very nice map showing the climate zones and Tucson in the South. Mount Lemmon is the green spot just to the North East of Tucson.

Somebody delete my thread please - I created a new Tucson threat. It is very disrespectful to offend people with pornography in this forum.
