I heard on the radio just now that two planes at YVR, each carring 200 passengers, collided on the runway. Any information?

Natelox July 4th, 2005, 06:17 PM It is in today's Vancouver Sun. It was a tiny Air Canada Dash 8 and an Airbus 330; they clipped wings while taxiing. hkskyline July 6th, 2005, 02:47 AM Safety report due from U.K. owner of jet in collision Gerry Bellett Vancouver Sun 5 July 2005 RICHMOND - Transportation Safety Board investigators are awaiting a report from the British company MyTravel whose Airbus A330 clipped wings with an Air Canada Jazz Dash 8 as both planes were being cleared for takeoff Sunday. Ben Dennis, acting manager of the board's Pacific Region, said the report will help investigators determine if any safety protocols were breached prior to the accident, in which the much smaller Dash 8 bore the brunt of the impact. The aircraft was taken out of service until it could be repaired, Dennis said. The much larger A330 was inspected and allowed to fly to Manchester, England, after inspectors determined the damage was only minor. Dennis said the Dash 8, bound for Portland, Ore. with 49 people on board, was stationary on Lima 4 taxiway at the time of the collision while the A330 was moving behind it to take up position for takeoff. |
