Great pics Farrapo! These are lovely, as all german/italian towns in Brazil. I wish I was there this week, as snow falls are predicted to Gramado and Canela tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. :D :D
These are small towns. Gramado has 30k inhabitants and Canela 28k, almost all being german and italian descendents.

Gramado and Canela (which are located in south Brazil) are a winter touristic destination for a good ammount of brazilians, mainly because of the comfortable and good structure of the place, being such lovely towns, with nice landscapes near it, good hotels and many attractions. Being there is like spending a 'little europe time', for brazilians. It has everything related to german and italian culture, like the food and attractions, all made by the local population. And it's one of the few places in this hot country where it snows in the winter.

OH I LOVE THESE TWO TOWNS!!! Though they are kitchy German-Swiss replicas inhabitated by ex-Italians :) But I like them anyway and the surrounding area is stunning!

I was in the restaurant 28!! Biggest menue I ever had for the lowest prize!

You should post some in GTC - especially Nr. 10... just blurr the carplate :)

whats GTC? And btw... Gramado was founded by both germans and italians. And since most italians in Brasil are from northern italy anyway...

That doesn't contradict my post, does it? If yes I didn't mean it. I know that Italians and Germans were setteling there but I thought it was first the Italians. BTW: isn't Caxias do Sul the center of Italian culture in Brazil with all the vineyards in the area? If they were mostly from Northern Italy I don't know... there was also a big imigration especially to Sao Paulo's coffee fields by Napolitani when the economy in South Italy was in big crisis in the late 19th century. But maybe the number never surpassed the Northern Italians. Would be interesting to make some research on that ;)

I think São Paulo is the center of italian culture in Brasil... because of the number of italians it received... not sure.
