Tucson is the second-largest city in Arizona and one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the US with almost 1 million inhabitants. The city was founded in 1776 and remained until 1821 under Spanish rule. After it was ruled by the Mexicans until 1853 it became part of the USA. Since 1885 Tucson is home to the University of Arizona, with 36,000 students one of the largest universities in the West. The city is surrounded by the beautiful Sonoran desert which is full of the unique Saguaro cacti.
Until today the city is under influence of Hispanic culture which is expressed in architecture, music and lifestyle. Enjoy the wonderful Southwestern Adobe buildings, the beautiful campus and the small downtown skyline.

What a relief from Phoenix. Great range of architecture in the homes, looks like a desert Austin without the "scene". Too bad nobody walks but it must be unbearably hot at times.

My brother lives in Tucson and the heat can be unbearable in the summertime. I was there in May and the dryness and the heat together was exhausting. I couldn't drink enough water.

Really beatiful town:)
Thanks! However, Tucson is not a town, it is a city with almost 1Mn people - and very fast growing. It has an airport serving 4Mn passengers every year and a university with more than 35,000 students.

But may be you just mixed up "town" with "city" - never mind

Tucson is comin up like a mofo. The problem with the US is there are so many large to medium sized cities that places like Tucson, Boise, Spokane, Reno, and Tacoma get lost in the shuffle. This country just has tons of places with over 1 million in population that it is hard to keep track. Lets just hope that Tucson learns from the mistakes of Phoenix and denifies its core areas instead of sprawling into oblivion.

Thanks for the photos. A very attractive city for being in the middle of the dessert. It's nice that you showed us some of the prettier areas. Does Tucson have much trouble in urban areas with rattlesnakes??

The U of A is one of the best in the country imo. It's a very nice campus... population of around 37,000. as for tucson, yes it is hot, but other than that it's nice weather, especially at nights...beautiful scenery with the catalina mountains nearby and gorgeous sunsets.

Don't worry mate, I am used to dry hot weather and I love it!!

Also a big fan of hiking/cycling so Tuscon isn't looking too bad at all...
