I came to Tel Aviv for holyday in November 2004 and i had the best time of my life. The city is so modern and full of life and it was also good to practice my hebrew given that i studied it at university in Australia but never got a chance to practice it. The best thing about Tel Aviv is its secularity, and given that i am an atheist i found that really helpful. I would sit on Allenby Street and eat pizza with pork in it in full view of everyone, i had a gay treesome in Pnei Brak, etc. Pretty much i broke all the taboos and i am so proud of that. The only thing i didnt like was the hostel where i was staying "Mugabry Hostel" because it was so dirty and most of the people who stayed in it were local bumps or drug addicts.

Anyway i cant wait to go back to Tel Aviv in a few years

oh yeah Tel Aviv is very seculary city and full of life especially at the night....:)

Seeing as you survived (and enjoyed) one of the worst hostels in the city
Im sure a better choice of accomodation can only make it better!
Theres much better and cheap youth hostels around the country,
theres cheaper rooms in kibbutzim around tel aviv, and actually the
best way to stay is try get a last minute deal at a good hotel!

Tel aviv is light, secular and carefree.
Jerusalem is heavy, covered wth religoun and history.
Everyone has his favourite, but for good weather and
views and serenity nothing compares to living in Haifa :)

the best place to live is Modiin:)) 30 minutes from Tel Aviv 30 minutes from Jerusalem:)

I am glad that you enjoyed Tel Aviv, b/c now you can tell your friends that there is nothing to fear about comming to Israel, especially when a number of them may use the excuse that they don't want to die in a terrorist attack just so that they won't go.

kd, they are having a dumb argument which cities are closer to
central Israel and consequetly where is the best place to live,
but they dont undestand being close to tel aviv and jerusalem isnt
an asset wen you can live in our beautiful city of Haifa :)

thanks source, I stayed in Haifa for a while last year. My friend lives there and her family took me all over the town. I think it was by far the most beautiful town in Israel.

Haifa is beautiful I agree, I visited it last month and enjoyed my visit very much
