At least 6 bombs have gone off in the tube, and there's reports of multiple injuries. Anyone else watching this? The tube looks like it'll be shut down for a while... wonder what that means for the congestion pricing policy. And Blair's government, for that matter.

I hope all our London posters are safe.

It is obviously terrorists, i won't speculate any reasons or intent, or french people will be really pissed off. Well done to all the emergency teams though! Saw them on TV and they did a great job

I had just gotten off at Monument for an errand this morning, and had returned to Monument at 9am, but they told us it was a power surge. Then walked to Cannon Street, where they directed us to. Then walked to Mansion House, where they said two trains were coming. Waited at the platform, and they told us a few minutes after that all lines were suspended. Very tragic events by very cowardly people.

Terrible. The people who do this aren't human.

Unfortanately, they are human; it would be easier to understand if they weren't human. It is by de-humanizing people, that atrocities are made easier to commit. The nazis de-humanized the Jewish people (among others), just as the terrorists have de-humanized western civilization and it's people. We should not do the same to the terrorists. I do not know how to solve these problems, but I think more hatred and violence (excluding self-defense) will only exacerbate the problems.

Last evening I had a nice talk with an english friend about London hosting the olympic games in 2012 and today as soon as I got up I saw the news about the bombings! The Russell Square Bus Bomb woke me up... I'm about 10 minutes walk away.

As soon as I heard it I thought "that's a bomb" because the last time I heard that sort of noise was when I lived in Homerton and the Canary Wharf Bomb went off. Its like a rumble of thunder, but eerily different. Within a few minutes I became aware of the sirens and got out of bed and put on the news to have my worst fears confirmed.

I had a horrible 2 hours where I couldn't contact my Partner, who was at work on the Tube at the time, but I finally got through and went to meet him at work for a quick hug before trying to get to work.

I made it into work (Late Shift, I just got back) after 2 hours and spent the afternoon / evening getting all of the stranded trains on the District Line off the running lines (they were abandoned all over the place at stations... 75 on my line alone) and into the depots. We managed it, so we should have a full service tomorrow bar the Edgware Road Branch (for obvious reasons).

London has lived through the Blitz and countless IRA bombs... today was long-anticipated and a little bit of me is glad its finally happened, because not a day has gone by since 9/11 that I haven't thought about "our turn". We've had "our turn" now, and thankfully if the figures are to be believed 7/7/05 killed 1% of those killed on 11/9/01 and perhaps a fifth of those killed in Madrid.

We will overcome.

I can't say it's unbelievable that something like this happened in London. The reality is, we co-exist with messed up terrorists and extremists, and it is not surprising that they'd choose to attack one of the greatest cities in the world (a personal favourite).

As a Torontonian who's had the privelege of experiencing the great city of London and "the tube",
My heart goes out to the families of the lost and to the recovering victims of this tragedy.

The city is so vast that things are going on as usual. People are in restaurants, in cinemas, in bars, life goes on.

Thatsb what London is about, it is a living breathing city.

What has surprised me is the way what are quite small bombs havce caused reactions around the world. This proves to every nutcase out there if want some attention for your cause blow something up in London.

I have heard reports that 2 devices didn't go off and that Police are working under the premise that all the devices were placed at Kings Cross. So they placed a device westbound on the Circle Line which exploded at Edgware Rd, also east on the Circle Line which exploded in a tunnel between Liverpool St and Aldgate, also one on the Piccadilly Line between Russell Sq and Kings Cross. So the other 2 it might be reasonable to assume were placed on other London underground lines there were rumours about something going on at Leicester Sq and Victoria Station was also closed from bomb scares.

Kings Cross was key here.

Who's next? :(:(:(:(:(

Why does this keep happening?

Please don't reply to the above questions, just think about them.

Londoners....our hearts are with you! We know you will overcome yet another obstacle!

On a related note:

1. I'm concerned with the US media making so much fuss about this! When the Moscow bombing occured last year (200+ dead, only 1 blast), all I heard was a 30-second snippet on CNN and other major news networks. When London gets bombed, all of a sudden all hell breaks loose!

2. "Stepping up security" has, in fact, nothing to do with security but rather perception of such, and with their stories the media scares half the people and makes the other half think that the security measures are a pathetic way to disguise our inability to defend ourselves against these things.

Again, I am trully sorry for what happened to London, and I hope you guys get back on your feet and keep on walking as soon as possible! Please let us know if we can help you with anything!

Nobody asks for terrorism. This kind of behaviour can not, and should not be allowed to occur. Following the outrages of September 11 2001, Bali in October 2002, Madrid in 2004 and London just yesterday, my resolve to support the War on Terror has been strengthened, and we should not be intimidated into how we go about our lives by morons.

a message I've just sent out to some pen-friends, contacts, etc.

Simon

------------------------------

Hello all,

Just in case you are curious regarding my wellbeing after Thursday's bombs in London, I'm emailing to put your minds at rest.

As it happens I was in Berlin, Germany, at the time. I had just been to the former "Checkpoint Charlie" where in 1990 I had walked through the Berlin Wall - and now in 2005 was retracing my steps (although I did not need a passport this time!) - when my mother called me on my mobile phone with a hysterical and fazed message saying that I should not be alarmed as everyone was OK. That was also the first I knew that something was amiss... a good way to find out!

Anyway, I lived through the 1970's IRA bombing campaign when an underground train was also bombed (again with fatal results) so whilst this is very upsetting it wont
stop me from using the underground. At that time I used the underground on a daily basis travelling to / from school.

What happened on Thursday was so unplesant that words fail me to try and describe it. But life must continue to be lived to the full.

One of the stewardesses on the flight home was actually working at a pub which was blown up by the IRA - and her attitude was very similar to mine.

what about lifes in iraq? they are not humans?

spsmiler

what about lifes in iraq? they are not humans?

Hi, your question is very important.

All humans are brothers / sisters. This has been the central teaching of all our "human belief systems", although in the past many people have only paid lip service to that.

In London the people who ended their human lives in the bombings came from all walks of life. Jews, Christains, Muslims, etc.

The sad reality is that the people of Iraq are suffering from an invasion by an powerful coalition (of humans) lead by the Jinn. Our media is controlled by the Jinn too - so most westerners do not know what is being done in their name.

In fact this is a nuclear war - OK, so no nukes have been exploded but so much radioactive dupleted uranium has been used in the bombs which are being dropped on Iraqi people that parts of Iraq are no longer safe for human habitation. This radioactivity is causing many new born children to have defective bodies.

Why Iraq?
Did you notice how immediately that the invading armies reached Bagdad they ransacked the museum, taking away all the ancient relics and destroying all the copies? They were looking for ancient information from previous civilisations which were on this planet several thousand years ago.

Why the Islamic people?
I think that one reason why the Islamic world has been demonised by the west is that the Jinn know that the western people do not believe in the reality of the Jinn - whilst the Islamic people do. In that way the western people can be easily led to believe that their fellow humans are "the enemy" - when in fact this is not so.

This is a process of many aeons of planning, and one reason is that humanity as a species is about to undergo an awakening (start using more than just 10% of our brains) which will result in us being able to see / interact etc with the Jinn - and they know that once we realise whats going on we will want to reclaim "our power" for ourselves. So, as part of their attempts to stop this the Jinn have adopted a process of "divide and conquer".

Another pertinent fact is that when in 2012 this solar system lines up with the central Sun in this galaxy there will be some sort of judgemental event and the Jinn (or others working with them) are hoping that we earth humans will have polluted the planet so badly and generally become such barbaric beings that we will be judged so harshly that we will be wiped out - and they will be able to reclaim this planet for themselves.

Nope, nothing to do with transport, but there is a war underway and on 7/7 London's transports became one of the battlefields.
