Weird, I can't see into the older buildings, but though crowded, they don't look real slummy to me. Not saying they're attractive or anything, and the new ones do look better, but is it that big of an improvement, or even necessary?

The last pic is kind of fun.

Shenzhen is indeed amazing at the way its been built up.

It also looks well-organized.

I do think it's a waste of money. The buildings were demolished just because they don't conform the master plan of the city.

yer its true they cant be that old.

But its frightful..they look too densely packed!
