Is it really handy to have links to member profiles on the index pages? Wouldn't having those links of the thread pages be sufficient, wouldn't you agree?
It will trim the index pages a bit.

The member profile links are pretty useful. I like to sometimes know what peoples average daily post counts are.

its common sense that a bloated member database is gonna slow the board down and make it hard to back the site up

Some fourmers are interested in seeing profiles on others, so I don't see why it has to be dumped.

I think Bikkel means the name on the index page that says who was the most recent person to post in that thread.
