Monkey July 9th, 2005, 04:06 AM The Jewish wedding is one of pillars of the Jewish way of life and, as well as in all religions, a great occasion for celebrating. Though it is a lot of laws and traditions it is connected to the wedding: in the weeks previous to wedding, the rituals too are carried out
In the past the Jewish weddings were usually arranged with parents with the help of "matchmaker" , and some ultraorthodox communities continue this tradition and to this day. Though the arrangement on the conclusion of a marriage) is already achieved, the man all the same should be a suitor for the hand of the potential bride at its father and fix the contract, having paid the repayment for the bride.
Rituals
The rituals connected to the Jewish wedding, begin from the moment of engagement, with the ceremony known as тенаим. During this ceremony the plate that serves as a symbol of destruction of Temples in Jerusalem and a reminder what even in a heat of celebratings Jews test from loss is broken. This theme repeats and during the most marriage ceremony.
Wedding can be carried out(be spent) in any day of week, behind exception shbbat which begins on a decline on Friday and lasts up to a decline of Saturday, and also except for the Jewish holidays, for example the Jewish New year (when Jews should not work). In United Kingdom the most popular day of carrying out of the Jewish weddings - Sunday, and in the USA weddings are frequently carried out(frequently spent) on Saturday after shabbat (and more popular season - winter as shabbat comes to an end earlier). Ultraorthodox pairs frequently marry at week-days
Monkey July 9th, 2005, 04:07 AM here about Huppa:
Traditionally Jews marry under special canopy which refers to huppa. It symbolizes the house in which the husband and the wife will live together. Earlier this ceremony was carried out(was spent) only in the street. Today her(it) carry out(spend) in a premise(room) is more often to not depend on weather. The most widespread place of carrying out of ceremony is the synagogue, however the strict rule about it is not present - if is хупа and rabbi ceremony can be carried out(be spent) anywhere - today the Jewish weddings are frequently carried out(frequently spent) in hotels.
Monkey July 9th, 2005, 04:10 AM Customs
The special traditional wedding clothes at Jewish and the bride are not present the groom. Men usually put on a black tie and a black suit, and women a white dress, however a degree of religiousness nevertheless imposes the print, and orthodox women put on more modestly.
The groom and the bride traditionally постятся in day of wedding just as in Yom kippur, - to clear itself of sins and to begin a new life.
Though wedding ceremony usually passes under supervision of rabbi, it is not so necessary, that she was carried out(was spent) by rabbi. The friend or a member of family from the sanction of rabbi can carry out her
Ceremony begins with signing кетубы - the Jewish marriage contact which stipulates conditions of a marriage(spoilage). Ktuba originates in days Sanhedrin, the Jewish Supreme court in Jerusalem a little thousand years ago. Signing кетубы anticipates the basic ceremony and is carried out(spent) at the presence of four witnesses and conducting service. Frequently one of items(points) ktuba is the consent of the man to agree to divorce the woman if the pair misses: it(he) confirms, that will not challenge гет (the Jewish divorce). It is very important for those Jewish women, whose husbands refuse to give them гет, that means, that they cannot leave repeatedly in marriage.
Further ceremony which refers to бедекен during which the groom covers the person of the bride with a coverlet follows. It symbolizes intention of the groom to protect the wife. This ceremony originates in bible times when Rebecca has covered the person before leaving in marriage for Isaac, son Avraama.
Rules about, whether music can sound during ceremony, no though many pairs feel like such music as Wagner's Wedding march (sounds in connection with his(its) antiSemitic sights and popularity in a nazi party(set) of Germany in 30 and 40th years). The majority of pairs choose traditional Jewish music during an input(entrance) of the bride and after service - and to this custom of a century.
Also there are no strict rules concerning the one who conducts the bride under huppa but traditionally it is done(made) by father of the groom (sometimes it is doneby both parents). The bride appears last and, reaching up to хупы, bypasses the groom some times - the quantity(amount) of circles can be miscellaneous. There are brides who bypass around of the groom only time, and orthodox brides - on some times.
During the Jewish wedding special value give to number 7 - during ceremony and a wedding feast the fault is drunk seven чаш. It because the God has created the world for seven days and, drinking seven чаш fault, the bride figuratively builds walls of a new house of pair.
