I found this in internet: http://www.borobudurpark.com/
Borobudur Temple is one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world. This colossal relic of Borobudur Temple was built by Sailendra dynasty between 750 and 842 AD; 300 years before Cambodia’s Angkor Wat, 400 years before work had begun on the great European cathedrals. Little is known about its early history except that a huge tropical heat to shift and carve the 60,000 Cu m of stone.Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles revealed Borobudur Temple in 1814.
He found the temple in ruin condition and ordered that the site be cleared of undergrowth and thoroughly surveyed. The massive restoration project began from 1905 to 1910 led by Dr. Tb. van Erp. With the help of UNESCO, the second restoration to rescue Borobudur was carried out from August 1913 to 1983.
The overall height of Borobudur was 42 meters, but it is only 34.5 meters now (after restoration), and has the dimension of 123 x 123 meters. The building has 10 floors or levels: Hhumtcambharabudara, the mountain of the accumulation of virtue in the ten stages of Bodhisatva. Borobudur is located 41 km northwest of Yogyakarta, 7 km south of Magelang, Central Java.

tata July 24th, 2005, 11:11 AM Monas park has new Las Vegas-style fountain
Damar Harsanto, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta
A touch of glamor has been lent to the National Monument (Monas) park -- already home to deer and colored pigeons -- with the opening on Saturday night of a fountain that emulates the Las Vegas Bellagio fountains.
With music and choreographed laser beams, the Rp 26 billion fountain, which is in the west of the park in Central Jakarta, accompanies Monas, the city's principal landmark, a 132-meter-high column topped with a glittering flame.
Three hectares of the park around the new fountain, which has a 45 meter by 80 m pond, has been made more beautiful to enhance visitors' experience.
They are also encouraged to feed the 800 colored pigeons that have occupied the park since last month.
"The fountain will operate every Saturday and Sunday and on holidays from 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.," assistant to the city secretary for development affairs Hari Sandjojo said.
The administration has limited the fountain's operation as it requires total power of 1,660 kilo volt ampere (KVA).
The fountain will feature 10 different choreographic water configurations accompanied by 14 songs, including Betawi (native Jakarta) song Jali-jali, Kopi Dangdut, Lenggak-lenggok Jakarta, Ampar-ampar Pisang and Hela-hela Rotan.
The fountain was financed by advertising company PT Media Indra Buana (MIB) through a barter scheme in exchange for 28 locations for outdoor advertising billboards across the capital, including the giant videotronic screen at the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle in Central Jakarta.
MIB president director Nyomananda said the administration and MIB were looking into the possibility of renting out the fountain, built using German technology, for parties or product launches.
Jakarta residents may recall that the city administration once built another fountain at the site, also accompanied by music. The fountain was shut down in the early 1980s owing to its high maintenance cost. It became popular with some residents as a place to bathe and wash their clothes.
The operator of the new fountain earlier said it would operate for at least 10 years if it was properly maintained.

ncon August 19th, 2005, 08:43 AM Introduction Of Jakarta!
Memperkenalan Jakarta!
Introduction
Jakarta (also Djakarta or DKI Jakarta, formerly known as Batavia) is the capital and the largest city of Indonesia, located on the northwest coast of the island of Java, at 6°11′ S 106°50′ E. It has an area of 650 km² and a population of 8,792,000 (2004).
Jakarta has been called a study in contrasts: traditional and modern; rich and poor; stand side by side in this bustling metropolis. The capital is certainly a place of extremes, where at first glance the cement jungle seems more like a jumble of buildings thrown together without any thought on ‘town planning’. Modern multi-story buildings look down on shacks with corrugated-iron roofs. Wide boulevards intersect with unpaved streets. Elegant hotels and high-tech business centres stand just a few blocks from overcrowded kampongs (villages).
http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/6919/idmap1sa.png
History
The city was officially founded in 1527 by Fatahillah (or Faletehan), a young leader from a nearby kingdom from the north. Fatahillah changed the name Sunda Kelapa into Jayakarta (meaning "victorious and prosperous" in Javanese) on 22 June 1527. This particular date is regarded as the official birth date of Jakarta. At the end of the 16th century,The Dutch came to Jayakarta In 1619 the forces of the Dutch East India Company, led by Jan Pieterszoon Coen, conquered the city and renamed Jayakarta to Batavia, the Latin name for the Netherlands. With formal, direct rule by the Netherlands expanding to more parts of the archipelago during the nineteenth and early twentieth century, the importance of the colonial Batavia (Jakarta) increased. Dutch tactics to maintain control and tax revenue at times required nearly all exports from anywhere in the region to be shipped through the city, establishing for the city an overwhelming political and economic dominance that it retains today.Japan took possession of the city in 1942 during World War II and renamed it Jakarta, to gain local favor. Following Japan's defeat in 1945, the Dutch reoccupied the city despite the declaration of independence by the Indonesians on August 17, 1945.
Kota
Kota is the heart of the 17th century Dutch town of Batavia which centers around the cobbled square of Tamman Fatahilla. From Kota one can wander down to the old schooner docks of Sunda Kelapa where the most impressive reminder of old sailing ships in the world can be found.
http://images.statelibrary.tas.gov.au/tasimg/may1999/normal/AUTAS001125644724.jpg
Culture
Being the capital of Indonesia and the center of governance, politics, and economy, Jakarta attracts many immigrants, foreign and domestic. As a result, Jakarta has a decidedly cosmopolitan flavor and a diverse culture. Many of the immigrants are from other parts of Java, bringing along a mixture of dialects of Javanese and Sundanese, and their traditional foods and customs. Orang Betawi ("people of Batavia")is a term used to describe the descendants of the people living around Batavia from around the 17th Century. Orang Betawi are mostly descended from various Southeast Asian ethnic groups brought to or attracted to Batavia to meet labour needs, including people from various parts of Indonesia. They have a culture and language distinct from the Sundanese and Javanese.
Sports
Jakarta is the home of popular soccer team Persija Jakarta, which regularly plays its matches in the stadium of Lebak Bulus. The biggest stadium is Gelora Bung Karno. With a capacity of more than 100,000 seats, it is one of the biggest stadia in the world.
The Senayan sports complex is comprised of several sport venues, which include: Gelora Bung Karno soccer stadium, Stadion Madya athletic stadium, Istora senayan, a shooting range, a tennis court, a golf driving range and several others.
Problems
Like many big cities in developing countries, Jakarta suffers from major urbanization problems. The population has sharply risen from 2.7 million in 1960 to 8.3 million in 2000. The rapid population growth has outgrown the government's ability to provide basic needs for its residents. As the biggest economy in Indonesia, Jakarta has attracted a large number of workers from its surrounding areas. The population during weekdays is almost double that of weeknights or weekends, due to the influx of workers residing in the surrounding areas. Because of government's inability to provide adequate transportation for its large population, Jakarta also suffers from severe traffic jams that occur almost every workday and also air and land pollution.
During the wet season, Jakarta suffers from floodings due to clogged sewage pipes and waterways. Depleting rainforest on the hill areas south of Jakarta near Bogor and Depok, due to rapid urbanization, has also contributed to the floods.
Language
The official language is Bahasa Indonesia and English is the most spoken and understood foreign language. In covention hotels they have translators for English, Frence, Dutch, German, Japanese, Mandarin, and even Spanish.
The native betawi people speak Betawi Malay which is different from standard Malay. There are variations in the language according to region, the Betawi Malay of the centre and that of the periphery. There are also socio - cultural variations. The older people born and bred in Jakarta speak the traditional Betawi Malay, while the younger people and migrants speak the modern version of the language.
In the language, various influences from other cultures are appearent, Balinese, Sundanese, and Javanese influences are there and words derived from Arabic, Dutch, chinese and Portuguese are easily recognizable.
Betawi Malay is spoken not only in Jakarta, but also in parts of Bekasi, Tangerang and Bogor which belong to the province of West Java.
Climate
Jakarta has a tropical climate. Its average daily temperature is 28°C during the day and a somewhat cooler 25°C at night. The average humidity is 81%. The wet season is from October to April, with the heaviest rains between December and January, and the dry season is from May to September.
Casual light or summer clothing suits the climate in Jakarta, but for travel to mountain areas in West Java bring a light sweater or jacket. For formal occasions a jacket and tie are required or along-sleeved Batik shirt is also accepted.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a332/dave_win2/jakarta/senayan.jpg
Religion
There are only 5 religions recognized by the Indonesian Government. These are; Islam (90%) Christian Protestant & Christian Catholic (8%), Buddhist and Hindu (2%). Because 90% of the Indonesian population is Muslim it is often noted that Indonesia is the world's largest Islamic country.
Transport
There are railways throughout Jakarta; however, they are inadequate in providing transportation for the citizens of Jakarta. In peak hours, the number of passengers simply overloads the capacity provided. The railroad tracks connect Jakarta to its neighboring cities.Buses and transport cars (local language: Angkot, angkutan kota) are also popular. Like trains, they also become overloaded during peak hours.
Bus
In 2003, the government formed a busway system named TransJakarta (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=177848&page=1) ; it serves a route running from Jakarta Kota to Blok M. The busway takes less than half an hour to traverse a route which would normally take more than an hour during peak hours.
The second phase of the busway will be constructed in 2005, serving the route from Pulogadung to Kalideres.
Taxi
Taxi is your best bet to travel around in Jakarta after Bus there are many taxi companies in Jakarta, use Bluebirds/Bird group (http://www.bluebirdgroup.com/) taxis, they can be trusted while other taxi companies may cheat you your money.
Monorail
In 2004, Government started the monorail projects right now Two monorail (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=156868&page=1) tracks are being constructed: the green line serving Semanggi-Casablanca-Kuningan-Semanggi and the blue line serving Kampung Melayu-Casablanca-Tanah Abang-Roxy. In addition, there are plans for a two-line subway (MRT) system, with a north-south line between Kota and Fatmawati, with connections to both monorail lines; and an east-west line, which willl connect with the north-south line at the Sawah Besar station.
MRT (Started 2006)
In addition, there are plans for a two-line subway (MRT) system, with a north-south line between Kota and Fatmawati, with connections to both monorail lines; and an east-west line, which willl connect with the north-south line at the Sawah Besar station.
Waterbus Ferries(FUTURE)
The government is also considering waterbus ferries as a cheaper means of transportation along the canals in Jakarta.

Sites of Interest
Some Famous Sites In Jakarta:
Taman Fatahillah (Fatahillah Park)
This beautifully conserved park played host to Batavia's administrative center in the 18th century. The town square lies on the south end of the imposing city hall (now the Fatahillah Museum or the Jakarta History Museum) and served as the venue for various public events, from lively fairs to gory executions. In the center of the square sits a small domed structure, constructed in 1972 by Governor Ali Sadikin as a replica of an old water fountain. The original once spouted contaminated water, thus contributing to the high mortality rate among the Dutch at that time. Admission is free.

Chinatown (Glodok)
After the bloody massacre of 1740, the Chinese community was confined to ghettos in an area outside the city walls, now known as Glodok. Today, shop houses, traditional markets, hawker stalls and temples dot the enclave, retaining a typically Chinese atmosphere. Pockets of shopping opportunities lying in the area include Glodok Market (a cluster of buildings selling information-technology products, electronic goods, hardware and general department-store merchandise) and an interesting shopping bridge linking Jalan Hayam Wuruk and Jalan Gajah. Sightseers should pay a visit to the two old Buddhist temples--Vihara Dharma Bhakti and Da Shi Miao--at Jalan Kemenangan.
Open Hours: 9am-3pm Mon-Fri. Most shops closed on week-ends.

Being the home of many of the country's political and economic elite, Jakarta boasts far more shopping venues than elsewhere in Indonesia. While these malls are too expensive to be accessible to many Jakarta residents, they dominate the high-end retail industry. Recent development of satellite cities in the surrounding areas, usually built around their own mega malls, parks, entertainment centers, and in some instances schools, has significantly expanded what is considered to be the practical border of Jakarta.International fashion items may not be at the top of your Jakarta shopping list.
But if you enjoy window shopping and following fashion trends, you'll enjoy the fashion showcased at Plaza Indonesia (http://www.plazaindonesia.com/) and Plaza Senayan (http://www.plaza-senayan.com/html/index.php) . Shops offer the latest collections from the fashion capitals of the world – Milan, London, Paris and New York – to titillate the fancy of well to do Indonesians and visitors alike.
Prior to the opening of luxury malls, Indonesians had to shop in Singapore, Europe or the U.S. to buy such well-known international brands as Bvlgari, Prada, Cartier, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Bally, Aigner, Ferragamo,Hugo Boss,Escada and many more and international food brands such as Crystal Jade Restaurant, Lawry's The Prime Rib, Tony Roma's and many more! Now these brands, and many more, are available in Jakarta.

Are you a culinary journey lover? You are perfect to be in Jakarta! Indonesia consisting of diverse ethnicity, evey region has distinctive taste of cuisine. What shoul you do to taste a mixture of Indonesian dishes when you don't have enough time to fly from one island to another ? Don't worry cos we have Waroeng Kopi restaurant on Jalan Meruya Utara, West Jakarta or Padzzi Pondok Ulam in Ampera Raya ,Kemang South Jakarta. You can have a bite on assorted Indonesian dishes with its perfect taste.
Indonesian Restaurants
Indonesian Restaurants featuring Indonesian cuisine can be found all over Jakarta and other urban centers throughout the country. Many regional dishes are popular far from home … including spicy hot Padang food, delicious chicken from Kalasan in Central Java, grilled fish from Ujung Pandang and scrumptious Chinese seafood dishes. A good place in Jakarta to get a quick introduction to Indonesian cuisine would be at a mall food court. Here, you can actually see the various dishes being prepared and sample different specialties until you discover your favourites.
Take Away Meals
Gerobak At the other end of the scale from the world class restaurants, are the gerobak/kakilima carts that roam the city selling local fare. Their approach is heralded by a specific sound for each food item, be it the ting-ting of a spoon on a bowl, the tock-tock of a stick on a block of wood or the whistle of a steam kettle. Food from gerobak can provide a great mid-morning snack or a complete meal.
In general, it is only safe to eat from these food carts, if the food is thoroughly cooked. It would be advised though, to provide your own dishes and silverware as the food vendor’s dishes are washed in a single bucket of water over and over again throughout the day.
To avoid most stomach ailments due to lack of good hygiene in road-side food preparation: 1) eat only fruit that has been peeled, 2) drink only commercially bottled water or drinks, and 3) only eat food that has been thoroughly cooked … no raw vegetable salads off the streets are advised!
Warung One step up from the roaming food carts is the semi-permanent warung, or food stalls, found throughout the cities. Due to the low overhead, warung offer cheaper fare than restaurants. Warung sprout up in the late afternoon and evening on roadsides, in parking lots, on sidewalks and in any open space (including outside your front fence) to provide meals to passers-by. Each warung offers a particular menu, often featuring regional specialties. Some of the best food in Jakarta is available from a warung…for those adventurous enough to seek it out! While dining from a warung, don't be surprised to be solicited by peddlers who are selling their wares, wanting to shine your shoes or someone wanting to provide musical entertainment ... for a small contribution. Be prepared ... bring small change.
Jalan Menteng Raya is legendary for its chicken sate, pempek, siomay, uduk rice and fried rice.
Tanjung Duren West Jakarta is full of fried food, goat soup, pong beancurd, and gejrot beancurd
Pecenongan Area is prominent with its seafood stalls
Bulungan area is never empty for its succulent grilled chicken
Cikini Area is also famous for its toast and chicken porridge
Kelapa Gading Area you can take pleasure in scrumptious cooking ranging from Konro soup, martabak, chicken noodle, large noodle,otak-otak,up to asinan and rujak

http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/520/top1026yz.jpg
here is our own forumers tips :
and 1 more question also
is it safe for a tourist to visit jakarta?...
i mean what is the danger of being in jakarta if there is any???
and r there places i shouldn't go alone???
and any recommendations...
(by Sanhen)
jakarta was pretty safe until the 1998 economic crisis. now safety has improved again but not until pre crisis situation.
you will find security officer pratically in everyspot. not because jakarta is not safe, but this is common practice. your car will get searched before you enter *almost* any building complex. open your car window etc.
i recommend you to avoid dark and quiet places. avoid quiet place even in daytime. close your window when driving. insist the taxi driver to turn on the air conditioning. becareful with your wallets, pickpockets are everywhere, they work in groups.
indonesian have a super duper kindness to westerner. they tend to think westerner are big tip spender. tiping is not a common practice in Indonesia, however its common to give tips for service eg. in hotel or those ppl that help you carrying your luggage in airport, train station etc. you must tip the person that help you to park your car @ onstreet parking, unless you park your car in a carpark.
if you travel using public transport, you will find many on foot street vendor. they will happily put their merchandise to your hand without asking. dont open it. if you open it, you pay. just leave it there, and they will collect it again later.
the biggest problem in jakarta is transport. taxi is your best bet. and dont trust taxi argometer, instead negotiate the fee before you go. there are many taxi companies in Jakarta, use bluebird taxis. for the main street you can take a BRT (busway), ticket is paid per journey basis.
if you want to go to greater jakarta (Eg. bogor, puncak etc), use travel agent. if you want to go to bogor to see botanical garden etc you can take the convinient Pakuan express train that leaves several times a day from Kota Central Station. Do not take economy train! I repeat: do not take economy train.
oh we drive on the left side of road. dont rent a car though. you will stuck in traffic jams. and you must be a PhD to travel within Jakarta street webs.
ok enough with all bad stuff about Jakarta :). but trust me, jakarta is not bad. its good. good eat. good sightseeing. good price ;). its just need improvement in public transport.
get that lonelyplanet 7th edition Indonesia book. pretty good.
By me:
example of the question:
is it safe for a tourist to visit jakarta?...
i mean what is the danger of being in jakarta if there is any???
and r there places i shouldn't go alone???
and any recommendations...
ok here is some tips (my personal view)
1.if u are talking about safe such as walking alone , it is safe to walk in the CBD area especially on the rounabout area as it is bright and have police patroling other area outside CBD is not too safe in CBD area , the government has changed to larger and better tiles in this thread u can see some pics:
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=111268
2.for travelling i have to tell u honestly that if u wanted to shopping easily i recommend Grand Hyatt as below is exactly shopping center where Mulia Hotel is 6 star hotel, nearest shopping center is Plaza Senayan u must either take taxi or walk (quite safe)
3.travelling in Jakarta could be a problem i tell u honestly u must bear with the traffic jams , the horn , and they way they drive (zig zag) it is one of the worst traffic jam in the world if u wanted to escape from traffic jam , i recommend u to take TransJakarta (one line build for this bus only no cars allowed to make it faster)it safe and comfortable air-con bus u must take pedestrian bridge as the station in the middle
u can see here in this thread:
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=177848&page=1
4.for taxi i recommend u to take BIRDS group it is safe and reliable while other taxi might cheat ur money and not trustable
5.do not take ecnomy bus, train, motorcycle, small sizes bus just take TransJakarta Bus and BIRDS taxi
6.in the redlight stop junction and in the street(if u're walking)always keep ur valuable(handphone,wallet,Mp3) down(do not show off) as there are beggar who will look through the car mirror for begging some money (except in CBD area where there is little beggar) but my advice is best to keep ur valuable such as passport in hotel also do not bring too much money if u are plan to go into street(walking) or by public transport just bring Rp300,000 (S$60) bring enough money if u wanted to shopping at shopping center as the foods(cafe and things quite expensive)
7.best for travelling in JKt u have friends (local)that can be trusted to show u around

ncon September 13th, 2005, 03:57 PM Borobudur Temple
Largest Buddisht Monument On Earth
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a332/dave_win2/borobudur/utgrdr.jpg
Borobodur Temple complex is one of the greatest monuments in the world. It is of uncertain age, but thought to have been built between the end of the seventh and beginning of the eighth century A.D. For about a century and a half it was the spiritual centre of Buddhism in Java, then it was lost until its rediscovery in the eighteenth century.
The structure, composed of 55,000 square meters of lava-rock is erected on a hill in the form of a stepped-pyramid of six rectangular storeys, three circular terraces and a central stupa forming the summit. The whole structure is in the form of a lotus, the sacred flower of Buddha.

Less developed than Bali, Lombok has better beaches, a bigger volcano and a greater variety of landscapes. Thanks to low key tourism, many Lombokians are less blasé about tourists than the neighbouring Balinese so you should have no trouble finding your very own private paradise.

Fir3blaze May 9th, 2006, 12:41 AM I was daydreaming of going for holidays later this year, and was thinking of where should I go. My initial choice was backpacking to either Cambodia and Vietnam, especially that it's pretty cheap to do that kind of overland travels. However, after giving the matter some thought and doing my online 'research', I'm considering going to Manado instead. I'm thinking of doing maybe 1 or 2 days of diving, spending 1 day relaxing, and maybe 1 more day touring the surrounding. Now, I have some questions about this, especially for those who've been there before:
1.I understand that both Bunaken and Lembeh Strait are popular with divers. Which site do you think makes the better place to visit?
2.Do I need to have diving certification before I can do any diving in Manado?
3.Which hotel is a good place to stay?
4.Any recommended place to visit in Manado city or the surrounding areas?
5.From what I gather online, I think this is going to be an expensive trip. If you can, please give me suggestion to make this an enjoyable trip that fits my wallet size.
Thanks all! Looking forward to hearing from you guys. :D

paw25694 February 20th, 2007, 01:54 PM Blok M, is an outdoor shopping center (actually.. mid class market) and it's located in Kebayoran Baru district, Jakarta Selatan city, next to Blok M Bus Terminal combined with luxurious mall (Pasaraya Grande, size about 200.000sq m *according to the website), some hotels, office, and mid class mall (Blok M Plaza, Blok M Mall). Blok M Mall is an underground mall who also be The Transjakarta Busway Line 1 terminus. There was a market here (and it was really famous), Pasar Blok M. But unfortunately fire 'ate' the market. And the market developer and famous Indonesian mall developer Agung Podomoro group, going to make a new mid-high class shopping center, Blok M Square. Blok M Square will consist 8 stories with basement, 2 top stories are for parking, and about the half of 2nd and 3rd story, will be occupied by Carrefour.

Record tourist arrivals in Malaysia in 2006
By Vasantha Ganesan
February 24 2007
TheStar
Tourist arrivals surpassed the target of 17.5 million, but total
receipts were RM1.13 billion shy of the projected RM37.4 billion
MALAYSIA achieved a record number of tourists and foreign exchange earnings in 2006.
While arrivals, at 17.55 million, were marginally above the projected 17.5 million, total receipts were RM1.13 billion short of the projected RM37.4 billion.
"We managed to achieve our target of 17.5 million. We crossed the figure registering 17,546,863 tourists, eventhough we had to deal with problems with taxis, immigration and tourists accused of khalwat," Minister of Tourism Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said.
"Only thing (that was) upsetting is we could not achieve the receipts. We were down a little," he said.
"We hope that people will stay longer. If they stay longer, they will spend more and we will get more receipts. Now, we are (tourists are staying) only getting an average of 6.2 days. We are trying to extend the days to about eight days," he said.
Tengku Adnan was speaking at a press conference following the launch of the second edition of "Halal Food: Kuala Lumpur A Guide To Good Eating" at Carcosa Seri Negara yesterday.
Tourist from our four immediate neighbours, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei alone accounted for 77.22 per cent of our total tourist arrivals. thanx to our neighbours ;)
Generally, Asean travellers who make up the bulk of arrivals tend to stay a fewer number of days and spend less during visits compared with tourists from the UK or West Asia who tend to stay even up to a month.
Nevertheless, receipts from excursionists should help cushion the reduction in revenue from foreign exchange.
Tourists or visitors who stay at least one night are distinguished from excursionists or day trippers.
Data on excursionists or day trippers for 2006 are currently being tabulated by Tourism Malaysia. In 2005, excursionists made up 7.78 million arrivals who spent RM1.14 billion during the few hours that they were on our shores.
Meanwhile, apart from the four neighbouring market, high arrivals were also registered from China (439,294), Japan (354,213), India (279,046), Australia (277,125), the UK (252,035) and the Philippines (211,123).
Malaysia also saw more Taiwanese (181,829), South Koreans (189,464), West Asians (186,821) and Americans (174,336) coming to Malaysia in 2006 compared to 2005.
This year, Tourism Malaysia is targeting an average monthly arrival of 1.675, up from 1.462 in 2006. The total 20.1 million tourists are expected to spend up to RM44.5 billion during their stay here.
If Malaysia manages to achieve this, tourism receipts would continue to be the country's second largest revenue earner for the country after manufacturing since 2000.
F-ian February 28th, 2007, 10:58 AM ^^ that what I said... the biggest cake in Msia Tourist arrivals are countries that are the nearest to it / ASEAN...
but well anyways.. the domestic tourists (turis dalam negeri/Indonesians tourist themselves)traveling in Indonesia are about 90 million so well yeah...not a big deal but just some info

peseg5 March 25th, 2007, 06:59 PM HAHAHA.. seelit2nya, toh SD negeri jadul juga. Pakenya AC (Angin Cukup), ubin belum pernah diganti sejak pertama kali dibangun sampe tahun 1994 kalo gak salah, diganti semua ubinnya pake keramik.
Ah...banyak kenangan disana...

Alvin April 23rd, 2007, 08:56 PM Why now is the perfect time to visit Indonesia
Monday, April 23, 2007
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00245/Indonesia_245801a.jpg
With its explosive political (and geological) past, tourism in Indonesia has plummeted. All the more reason to visit these magical lands. Jessica Morris goes west of Java
Two hands slam down on my shoulders from behind and Udin, our guide, yells " Run!" We are in the rainforest of northern Sumatra, supposedly on the hunt for orang-utans, but the tables have turned: the orang-utans are on the hunt for us, and our dinner. I am not what you might call the sporty type, but I scarcely pause when the ground rises vertically in front of me. I hoist myself up a cliff face with the aid of liana vines while nearby, just above the sound of my heartbeat, I can hear our pursuers swinging effortlessly from tree to tree.
In Sumatra, if you want to meet an orang-utan, you head to the village of Bukit Lawang. Many of the apes here are only semi-wild, although they live in the forest. It doesn't take long for Udin to find Edith and introduce us to her. No wildlife documentary can convey the charm of seeing her reach lazily with her left foot to take a piece of fruit from the ground and then, stretching her right foot around behind her head up to an overhanging branch, swing off to enjoy her snack upside down. It's only when the more aggressive Mina and two wild males appear that things go banana-shaped. But at camp that evening the adventure has bonded trekkers and guides.
We overnight under a tarpaulin shelter by a wide stream. Despite the heat of the day, after dark it is extremely chilly. In my sleep I gradually creep towards, and then wedge myself under, a snoring fellow trekker for warmth. My beautiful pashmina, bought at great expense so I might feel chic on international flights, now resembles an old car blanket. At dawn I wake to the whooping cries of gibbons, and the cook's boy firing up the stove for coffee. Every joint in my body aches from the Great Ape Escape and the cold, but I wouldn't choose to be anywhere else on the planet.
However, I am in a minority. Tourism in Indonesia - this amazingly diverse collection of equatorial islands - has stopped virtually overnight, hit by political and natural disaster. Throughout my three-month journey I see only a handful of other Western travellers. Guides such as Udin, once unable to meet demand, are now forced to trawl for punters in bus stations. Even Bali has dropped off the tourist map. Until shortly before I set off, I didn't mean to come here either. As I dithered over destinations, a friend spun a globe, stopping it with his finger on Indonesia.
And so, first, to Bali... The island's scent is instantly recognisable: clove cigarettes mingled with incense, warm rainfall and jasmine. A narrow alleyway and, at the end of it, a tree and a beach: everything thrown into heavy chiaroscuro by the full moon. Anchored just offshore, three men sort their catch. It has been a lucky trip, and cheerful voices float over the water to the women who wait by the light of kerosene lamps. A shout from the boat and the women wade out, returning with baskets on their heads, brimming with silver in the moonlight. There were scenes such as this before independence, or the Dutch, or Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam. And such scenes, speaking of community and continuity, first drew travellers here from the jaded Western world at the beginning of the last century. The sun rises and the pale grey mackerel sky is gradually tinged with pink; the pale grey mackerel sea deepens to cobalt blue. Far offshore, a dolphin leaps twice above the swell before vanishing but I am the only traveller here to see him.
A half-hour ferry ride to the west lie Java and Mount Bromo, the only active volcano among several that stand in the vast, sandy plain of an ancient crater whose sides rise to more than 300m. I make the journey by public minibus carrying as many as 32 people through steeply sloping, densely packed hills. Schoolchildren hang off the roof rack.
My hotel overlooks the desolate moonscape of the crater. I book a dawn tour for the following morning, but the price depends on how many passengers the 4x4 owner can rustle up. Next morning I am surprised to see three others - a silent German and two friendly Irish girls. We head, on bumpy, vertiginous tracks, up to the viewpoint, eager to see the sunrise highlight the smoke rising from Bromo's caldera, but the weather is too cloudy for views.
East Java proves unwelcoming and confusing. I scribble words such as " sullen" and "hostile" in my notebook. We pass through low concrete towns dotted with loudspeakers blaring out lectures from the mosque. When we stop to collect two morose schoolgirls, an ancient woman spreading rice out to dry on a cloth beside the road pauses in her work to stare expressionlessly up at me. She is wearing nothing but a sarong tied around her waist, her breasts bare.
Under a blazing midday sun in a small market town a stallholder spots me. He yells "American!" with a broad grin on his face. Pumping my hand up and down through the window, he calls to his friends to come and look at me, bitterly disappointed I can't stay. His T-shirt is emblazoned with a large photo of Osama bin Laden.
I give money to the frequently untalented musicians who hitch a ride on the coach, plucking at the strings of their small guitars or kroncongs like an army of tone-deaf George Formbys. Even late at night, young children often perform alone. I think of it as music tax, a compulsory additional cost to the price of the journey, which rarely amounts to more than £5 even on the longest trips between cities.
In the ancient cities of Surakarta (known as Solo) and Yogyakarta (or Yogya, pronounced "Jodja") in central Java, the atmosphere feels more relaxed. Both are held to be havens of Javanese culture, famed for batik, gamelan music, dances, and shadow puppet shows of their kratons, or palaces, still inhabited by their respective royal families. Like nearly all the places of interest I visit in Indonesia, the wide dirt courtyards and heavily ornate verandas of the Yogya Kraton are partly dilapidated, partly over-restored, but adoration for the royal families flourishes. Only the current Sultan Hamengkubuwono (or He Who Holds the World in His Lap) can persuade villagers to leave the slopes of Mount Merapi each time it threatens to erupt. In the palace museum I find myself admiring a display of the late Sultan's green oven gloves, circa 1956.
Before I set off I didn't really grasp how huge Indonesia is or how long it would take to get anywhere. I write "Next Time" in my guide book alongside Bandung, described as the Paris of Java, and Ulung Kulon where there is a (slim) chance of sighting a rare Javan rhino, and head directly for Cerita on the far east coast. Out to sea lies Pulau Rakata, the remains of the world's most famous volcano, Krakatau, whose massive 1883 explosion coloured sunsets over the River Thames. Alongside it, Anak Krakatau (the Child of Krakatau) has been steadily, and ominously, growing since 1930. I arrive just before sunset and watch the sun go down behind the smoking cone of this true enfant terrible. The following morning, after a fruitless search, I realise that most tour companies have closed down through lack of business, and there is no one else there to share a charter boat. I write " Next Time" alongside Krakatau in my guidebook.
On the last evening ferry to Sumatra, four lads approach me. They point out their big silver SUV and offer me a lift to Bandar Lampung. Half an hour later one of them approaches again, his face a picture of concern. They don't think I should go on a coach alone late at night. The boy is wearing braces on his teeth and, in a country where he would have had to work hard to pay for this, it somehow suggests that he can't be dangerous. In any case, I am too exhausted to argue further. Sometime after midnight we stop at a stall so I can try my first durian, a large, spiky-skinned tropical fruit, infamous for its bad smell. One of the boys, Agus, chooses our durian carefully, tapping each fruit in turn, before he slices one open with a large knife. To me it has the taste and texture of cheap soap, but I am assured that it is delicious. The smell stays with me for three days.
Sumatra is as different from Java as Java is from Bali. The landscape of mountains, rice paddies and palm trees is a variation on the same theme, but each island is unmistakably a separate country. Transport in Bandar Lampung, as in Javan cities, is by angkot - freelancing doorless minibuses running along roughly predetermined routes. In Sumatra, however, they are a different species. Multicoloured "Formula One Disco Angkots" race the hills of the city, surfing towels pinned to their ceilings and huge woofers blaring out Indo-pop. In the old harbour children gather round me, and then run away giggling when I speak in Indonesian. I try to capture their energy with my camera before they spot what I'm doing and line up into a formal group for the lens.
For the overnight ride to Padang I treat myself to an "executif" bus. The on-board luxuries include a smoking room and a toilet. No one mentions the cockroaches.
I wake to a wide marshy landscape dotted with houses on stilts. The sign at the bus terminal reads "Palembang". During the night, a bridge on the Trans-Sumatran Highway fell down. The only way around is to cross the island to the far north-east before dropping back down again, a journey comparable to travelling from London to York via Land's End. This will, I am assured, add only 10 hours to the journey. It has started to rain. All Sumatra's traffic is now concentrated on this stretch of road, at times nothing more than a narrow, unsurfaced cart track. Huge overloaded lorries sway past us. It is still raining. The journey stretches through the day and into the following night. We are held up by trucks that have keeled over like migrating beasts felled by the rigours of the journey, unable to keep up with the herd. Just before dawn the road falls away completely and is replaced by an impromptu bridge made from two long planks. Each vehicle waits while several men judge how far apart to space the planks. The driver revs the engine and hits the accelerator. A crunch, a lurch to the left, and we have made it. The final 13 hours are plain sailing and we roll triumphantly into Padang precisely 48 hours after we set off.
North of the equator lies Lake Toba and, in the middle of the lake, Samosir Island. If you asked me to find a location for a film set in the Garden of Eden, this would be it, with its wide green meadows, banana palms, volcanic springs, grazing white buffalo and little churches with pointed steeples. This is the home of the Batak people, evangelised by German missionaries, and known for their music. I spend the evening at a mountain "shebeen" by a waterfall with, among others, the local chief of police, a couple of tourist guides, a fitted-bathrooms magnate, the local schoolteacher, and a very large jug of palm toddy. Someone asks me to choose a song and, somewhat feebly, I say "Yesterday". They sing it in six parts, beautifully, and follow it with Batak folk songs. When I fall asleep hours later to the sound of water lapping just below my veranda, I can still hear their voices.
I dread the final leg of my journey: Aceh was until recently on the Foreign Office blacklist. But in Medan the woman who runs my hostel looks at me as if I am mad when I express reservations. She organises my ticket and puts me on the bus herself to make sure I go.
Just after entering the province, the road turns into a modern, surfaced highway. I never find out whether this is from a post-tsunami aid project or a pre-tsunami military one. The mountainous landscape, always stunning, becomes even more so. When we stop for lunch everyone smiles and is friendly, and the headscarf I have now added to my wardrobe earns approving comments from other women.
I anticipate feeling uncomfortable in the most fundamentalist province of Indonesia, but the opposite happens. In Medan my every move excited comment from the men. In Aceh I am again treated with the same respect and friendliness as in Bali. I go through the usual questions with each passenger who joins the bus. "How old are you? Are you married? Do you have children? Where are you going?" But here everyone one replies that they have no family, husband, children, friends. They were all killed by the tsunami.
I'm still not sure how to talk about Bandar. I can tell you about the lad who drove me around all day on his new motorised becak (from an aid agency) and whose entire family was gone. I can tell you about the wide avenues, the elegant houses, that halfway down the street are suddenly replaced with mud and snapped wood and twisted metal. I can tell you about the view of a dirty brown tidemark halfway up the cliffs left behind when the waters receded. But I can also tell you about a road of fabulous cafés built on stilts over rice paddies where they serve the best coffee I had in Indonesia, and delicious seafood, and white sand beaches.
Before I started my journey I wrote a list of "Reasons to be Nervous" in my diary: attack by fundamentalists; bird flu; volcanic eruptions and earthquakes; food poisoning; bathrooms; malaria. At the end of my journey I wrote a new list: pavements (I stubbed my toes daily, fell flat on my face twice, walked into a ditch in the dark); falling coconuts. I am home again with a pair of disintegrating sandals I can't bear to throw away because they have waded through rivers, climbed the largest Buddhist stupa in the world, and waited for me on the veranda steps of countless small hotels.
I'll be back - I only hope it's before everyone else remembers what a fascinating place Indonesia is too.
TRAVELLER'S GUIDE
GETTING THERE
Indonesia no longer has direct flights from the UK. Instead, the usual approach is via Singapore, served from Heathrow by Singapore Airlines ( www.singaporeair.co.uk), British Airways ( www.ba.com) and Qantas ( www.qantas.co.uk). Garuda Indonesia ( www.garuda-indonesia.com) and SilkAir ( www.silkair.com) fly from Singapore to Denpasar (Bali) and Medan (Sumatra); Jetstar Asia ( www.jetstar.com) flies from Singapore to Denpasar.
GETTING AROUND
Long and short-distance coaches ply every route across Indonesia, but rarely the precise one you want to follow. In Bali "tourist buses" run to sites of interest: Perama ( www.peramatour.com) is one of the best companies. Jan's Tours ( www.janstours.com) covers Bali and beyond.
STAYING THERE
None of these options costs more than £5 for a double room, usually with breakfast included. Mandara Chico Homestay, Tukad Mungga, Lovina, Bali.
Lava View Lodge, Cemoro Lawang, Mount Bromo, Java.
Istana Griya Homestay, Jalan Dahlan 22, Surakarta, Java.
Bladok Hotel, Jalan Sosro 76, Yogyakarta, Java.
Hotel Purnama, Jalan Raden Intan, Bandar Lampung, Sumatra.
Samosir Cottages, Samosir Island, Lake Toba, Sumatra.
RED TAPE
British passport-holders are required to purchase an entry visa on arrival, costing US$25 (£14) for a 30-day stay.
OFFICIAL ADVICE
Bali and other locations in Indonesia have been the targets of terrorist bombings, causing large losses of life. According to the Foreign Office ( www.fco.gov.uk), a high threat from terrorism remains: "We continue to receive reports that terrorists in Indonesia are planning further attacks, including attacks against Westerners and Western interests. Foreigners, and locations and buildings frequented by foreigners, continue to remain attractive potential targets to terrorists"
The official advice urges "Caution when travelling to Aceh, which is emerging from a long-running internal conflict. You should exercise particular caution when travelling to remote areas."

Surakarta May 25th, 2007, 06:57 PM Indonesië één groot avontuur
PARELTJES
• Orang-oetans in Leuser Park
PARELTJES
PARELTJES
• Flores: drie verkleurende meren

F-ian September 26th, 2007, 02:58 PM Just some Info on Komodo Island
==============================================
Komodo National Park Indonesia
Written by EditorsChoice
Wednesday, 26 September 2007
Park information:
* Located between the islands of Flores and Sumbawa Island.
* Covers an area of between 1,875 and 2,321 square kilometers.
* Consist of three main Islands: Komodo, Rinca and Padar
* Famous for its pre-historic and Komodo ‘’Dragons’’ – found only in this area of the world.
* Home to one of the richest marine environments in the world.
* Excellent coral reefs.
* Outstanding diving spots.
Facilities
* Rangers’ house, restaurant and information centers are located on both Komodo and Rinca Island
* Currently the best way to stay overnight at the park is to rent a local excursion boat and sleep on deck. Anchored just off shore from the park, this will allow an early morning trek in the reserve.
How to get there
* Labuan Bajo (West Flores) is the starting point to explore the Komodo National Park. Regular flights operate from Bali (Denpasar) to Labuan Bajo, or travel overland from Bali by private vehicle or public bus and inter-island ferries.
* The travel time from Labuan Bajo to Komodo Island is 4 hours by boat, and 2 hours from Labuan Bajo to Rinca Island.
* Overnight accommodation is possible either at the rangers’ house or on the deck of a local excursion boats
* Arrangement for accommodation at the Park can be with Travel Agents, West Flores guides or directly with the local boat owners.
* Local excursion boat.
Komodo Island
* Loh Liang is the main landing point to see Komodo ‘’dragons’’ on Komodo Island.
* Komodos are often seen at the dry river bed Banu Nggulung, a half-hour walk from Loh Liang. When komodos were still fed before park visitors (a practice discontinued many years ago), Banu Nggulung was the traditional feeding ground. You are also likely to spot dragons looking for food around the Rangers’ camp in Loh Liang.
* Hiking around the Island is possible with a local guide. A round-trip climb up the slopes of Gunung Ara (580m) takes around 3.5 hours. Or, consider hiking to Poreng Valley, located 5.5km from Loh Liang. Along the way you may encounter komodos as well as buffaloes, wild boar, and a wide variety of bird species.
* Visit Komodo village, a friendly, Muslim Buginese village only a half-hour walk from Loh Liang.
* Snorkeling and relaxing at Pantai Merah (Red Beach) or Pulau Lasa is on the ‘’must do’’ list for Komodo Park visitors.
Rinca Island
* Loh Buaya is the access point to see Komodo ‘’dragons’’ on Rinca Island.
* You may see the dragon around the camp at Loh Buaya.
* Local guides generally know the spots where the komodos sun themselves.
* On a hiking tour you may also see long-tailed macaques, wild water buffaloes, Timor deer, wild horses, boars, and rare megapode birds.
Marine Ecosystem:
The three main marine ecosystems found at the Komodo National Park:
* Sea grass beds
* Coral reefs
* Mangrove forests.
Marine Fauna:
Komodo National Park has one of the richest marine environments in the word. Forams, cnidaria, sponges, ascidians, marine worms, mollusks, echinoderms, crustaceans, cartilaginous, bony fishes, marine reptiles, marine mammals (dolphins, whales, and dugongs), sea cucumbers (Holothuria), napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus), and groupers are major sub-sea fauna found at Komodo National Park.
Marine Flora:
The three major coastal marine plants:
* Algae
* Sea grasses
* Mangrove trees.
Terrestrial Ecosystem:
* Long dry season (April to October) with high temperatures and low rainfall.
* A transition zone shared between Australian and Asian flora and fauna.
* Open grass-woodland savannas, tropical deciduous (monsoon) forests and quasi-cloud forests.
* A shared trait among many of the park’s terrestrial plants species is that they are xerophytes, capable of obtaining and retaining water to survive the cyclical drought period.
* Terrestrial plants includes: grasses, shrubs, orchids, and trees.
Important food trees include Jatropha curkas, Zizyphus sp., Opuntia sp., Tamarindus indicus, Borassus flabellifer, Sterculia foetida, Ficus sp., Cicus sp., ‘Kedongdong hutan’ (Saruga floribunda), and ‘Kesambi’ (Schleichera oleosa).
Terrestrial Fauna
Many mammals found at the park are Asiatic in origin - deer, pigs, macaques, civets. Other mammals include Timor deer (Cervus timorensis), wild horses (Equus sp.), water buffalos (Bubalus bubalis), wild boars (Sus scrofa vittatus), long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis), palm civets (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus lehmanni), the endemic Rinca rat (Rattus rintjanus), fruit bats, goats, feral dogs and domestic cats.
Several bird species are Australian in origin - orange-footed scrubfowl, the lesser sulpher-crested cockatoo and the nosy friarbird. 27 species observed in the park’s savanna area include: Geopelia striata and Streptopelia chinensis. Philemon buceroides, Ducula aenea, and Zosterops chloris are observed in the mixed deciduous habitat that is home to 28 bird species.
Reptiles at the park include, of course, the legendary Komodo ‘’Dragon,’’ 12 snake species including the cobra (Naja naja sputatrix), Russel’s pit viper (Vipera russeli), and the green tree vipers (Trimeresurus albolabris). Lesser lizards include 9 skink species (Scinidae), geckos (Gekkonidae), limbless lizards (Dibamidae), and the monitor lizards (Varanidae). Frogs species include the Asian Bullfrog (Kaloula baleata), Oreophyne jeffersoniana and Oreophyne darewskyi.

lombok September 29th, 2007, 10:46 AM India, Malaysia sweep up awards at PATA travel event
Andi Haswidi and Prodita Sabarini, The Jakarta Post, Nusa Dua
While Indonesia tasted some victory at the Pacific Asia Travel Association's (PATA) Gold Awards lunch at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Friday, India and Malaysia dominated the major categories.
India won three out of the event's 24 awards, including the Grand Award for Marketing for the Ministry of Tourism's Incredible India Global Media Campaign and the Gold Culture Award for Aranmula, an area managed by Kerala Tourism.
Malaysia won four awards at the event, including the Gold Award for an Industry Marketing Campaign for its 2006 Malaysia Gourmet Festival. It also took out the Broadcast and Print Media awards for Tourism Malaysia's Malaysia Truly Asia Global Media Campaign.
India's Ministry of Tourism Secretary, Shilabhadra Baherjee, said he felt the Incredible India campaign put India on the tourism map.
"The main idea behind the Incredible India campaign was to project progress and invite people from all over the world to come and visit us," Baherjee told The Jakarta Post after receiving the award.
He said the secret behind successful campaigns was more about creativity than the size of promotion budgets.
"We have a very ancient culture and traditions. We have arts, architecture and temples. The variety is tremendous. So we would like friends from around the world to experience that," he said.
Other Grand Award winners included Thailand in the Social and Environment Conscience Program category, Macau for its 2006 heritage program and Sri Lanka for education and training.
In the Gold Award categories, Singapore was successful in the Primary Government Marketing Campaign category, the Carrier Marketing Campaign award was won by Sri Lanka, the Video Marketing award was won by South Korea and the Public Relations Marketing award was won by New South Wales Tourism in Australia.
Indonesia's Bali Update Internet newsletter managed by John B Daniels from Bali Discovery Tours won Indonesia's only award. However, the triumph was marred by controversy, with other competitors criticizing the publication for only promoting the best aspects of Bali.
"We are criticized by our online competitors who hate Bali. The industry also criticizes us. When we wrote about bird flu, the general managers of hotels criticized us. So I guess by getting criticism from two extremes, it shows that we are doing the right thing," Daniels said.
On receiving Indonesia's sole award at the event, Daniels said a lack of leadership from the government in the tourism sector was partly to blame.
"What we need is leadership. In the 30 years I have lived in Indonesia, I have felt there is a lack of team work here," Daniels said.
The work of the Bali Tourism Board was insufficient, he said, with no real programs being carried out to promote better tourism services on the island.
Meanwhile, in an effort to attract more tourists to the country, the Culture and Tourism Ministry is planning to promote next year as Visit Indonesia Year. A similar move was successful in the early 1990s.
Visit Indonesia Year 2008 is expected to attract 7 million visitors to the country, with a budget of Rp 240 million waiting for parliament approval.
The commencement of the campaign was scheduled for July this year but was postponed until November due to a change in theme.

paw25694 September 30th, 2007, 05:01 AM lah terus 2008 targetnya jadi nya 7 juta, kalo akselerasi nya 8 juta ya?? :?

Ketep Pass

Nine-month tourist arrivals up 13.5 percent to 3.36 million
The number of tourists arriving in Indonesia rose 13.5 percent to 3.36 million in the first nine months, data from the Central Bureau of Statistics showed Thursday.
The increase was driven by a rise of 33.7 percent to 1.29 million arrivals in the resort island of Bali.
Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta airport, the second largest entry point, reported 854,492 arrivals, little changed from 854,323 a year ago.
Batam, an industrial island near Singapore, recorded a 5.1 percent increase to 791,571 arrivals.
In September alone, arrivals via the country's 15 entry points dropped to 382,461 from 405,604 in the preceding month.
Data from the Tourism Ministry showed 4.87 million foreign tourists visited Indonesia in 2006, with total spending of 4.45 billion US dollars.

lombok December 10th, 2007, 08:48 AM Dana Promosi Pariwisata Indonesia Rp150 Miliar
Denpasar, CyberNews.

paw25694 January 2nd, 2008, 03:37 PM thanks to acen, i just knew that Bali has its own tourism brand. Bali Shanti Shanti Shanti
http://ayipbali.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/ayip-bali-shanti.jpg
A new brand for Bali which called “Bali: Shanti Shanti Shanti” has been launched by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Culture. To shed a better light on this new brand for Bali, here is the explanation on the new brand provided by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture:
After going to every step within a precise methodological framework, the Bali Visual Branding has taken shape, taking into consideration the values of the prior finding. Inline with the brand differentiation that underlines the natural and cultural aspect, the visual and tagline of Bali branding is dominant with a spiritual feel. This leads to the emergence of philosophical elements and meaning to support the spirit of Bali.
The logo is explained in 4 steps:
- The visual elements
- The font
- Color
- Tagline
Visual
Symmetrical triangle
The triangle is a symbol of stability and balance. It is formed out of three straight lines in which both ends meet, taking the symbols of a blazing fire (Brahma – the creator), lingga or phallus. The triangle also represents the three Gods of the universe (Trimurti – Brahma, Wisnu, and Siwa), three stages of nature (Bhur, Bwah and Swah Loka), and three stages of Life (Born, Live, and Die).
The triangle also explains the essence of the brand that is influenced by Tri Hita Karana, the basic value that will guide us to a balanced life.
Hinduism has other philosophy and meaning of the triangle shape.
The symmetrical floral motif
If the triangle is folded, the motif on each side will be identically the same. This shows how balance becomes a vital part in the design of: the harmony and peace according to the brand vision.
The floral motif is strong and dominant. This enhances the creativity of Balinese that are known for their highly skilled craftsmanship. The floral motif is used to show the closeness of Bali people to their natural surrounding, emphasizing its most strong virtue, the beauty natural landscape.
The crown on the triangle
The crown is a symbol of: accomplishment, great awareness, and nobility. It is the pinnacle of balanced living noted in the Tri Hita Karana (balance relationship with others, nature, and the creator)
Font
The Bali typography adopts the line and curves of the traditional Balinese alphabet. The B in Bali takes shape like a 3 and the Ang alphabet (Brahma’s sacred lettering). It is also consistent with the Tri Hita Karana, the triangle and the three-shaped B in Bali. A specific treatment is shown on the letter L, which rises and supports the crown. The true meaning behind it is the need to sustain a deep commitment from stakeholders to reach the highest achievement (crown).
Color
Branding Bali uses 3 dominant colors that represent Bali: Red, Black, and White (Tri Datu). Red represents Brahma—the creator, white—Wisnu, the nurturer, and Black—Siwa, the destroyer. The collaboration of these 3 colors which represents 3 Gods (Tri Murti) will guard Bali and the life it supports to live in harmony and move forward in peace.
Tagline : Shanti, Shanti, Shanti
Shanti means “peace, if we say Shanti, we will be overflowed with a peaceful and harmonious spirit.
For Hindu people, Shanti is commonly said 3 times while adding the Om word (sacred script Ida Hyang Widhi Wasa—the one and only God) at the beginning and the end: Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti Om which means peace be upon your heart, world, and the after life. Saying it 3 times is also consistent with the original concept that emphasizes the number 3 (Tri).
Shanti, Shanti, Shanti represents peace upon Bhuwana alit dan agung (yourself and the world) that will deliver a sacred and holy vibe that awakens a deep aura that balance and make peace to all living creatures.

lombok February 21st, 2008, 04:48 PM Mojokerto Segera Rekonstruksi "Kerajaan Majapahit"
Surabaya, 21 Pebruari 2008 15:28
[TMA, Ant]

Bovendien is men er in geslaagd de 'state of the art' Bulgari hotels te contracteren.
New York

lombok September 18th, 2008, 03:59 PM Pelaku Pariwisata Menolak RUU Pornografi
Kamis, 18 September 2008 | 20:12 WIB
Gubenur Bali I Made Mangku Pastika mengatakan DPR seharusnya mengakaji ulang rancangan ini sebelum melakukan pembahasan. Baik nilai sosial maupun budaya.
"Jika tidak sesuai dengan nilai ini tidak berguna," kata gubenur usai membuka Musyawarah Nasional ke IX Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travels Agences (Asita) di hotel Inna Grand Bali Beach Sanur, pagi ini. "Hanya jadi undang-undang mati."
(tw)
lombok December 21st, 2008, 08:12 AM Ministry: Tourism arrivals to rise 25 percent
The Jakarta Post , Jakarta | Fri, 12/19/2008 11:41 AM | Business
Almost certain to meet this year's revised downward target, the government remains boldly confident foreign tourist arrivals will rise 25 percent next year, betting partly on the results of higher promotional budgets, says a ministry official.
Sapta Nirwandar, a director general at the Culture and Tourism Ministry said Thursday, the industry would continue to grow despite the global economic downturn and financial crisis due to loyal travelers who visited Indonesia to pursue their hobbies and for cultural reasons.
"This is a crisis-proof industry," Sapta told a seminar on tourism.
For 2009 the ministry forecast 8 million people would visit the country, 1 million more than the initial target, compared to a targeted 6.4 million for this year.
This seems overly optimistic, since until the end of October, foreign tourist arrivals stood at 5.09 million. With monthly arrivals averaging 500,000, many have expressed doubts the full-year 2008 target can be achieved, even with help from the Visit Indonesia Year program.
In 2007, 5.05 million tourists traveled to Indonesia.
For next year, Sapta anticipated a decline in arrivals from the United States and European countries, but largely compensated for by an increase in visitors from South Korea, China and the Middle East.
"We are going to promote more health and beauty tourism, also marine tourism and smaller islands," Sapta said.
Hobbyists, such as surfers and divers, and the nature and culture oriented travelers would not take Indonesia off their agendas, he said. "Small islands and new destinations would be promoted more intensely."
Promotion activities would be helped by a 10 percent increase in the promotional budget for 2009 to Rp 285 billion (around US$25.8 million).
"We have more than 300 ethnic groups, and these rich cultures never fail to attract tourists," he said.
Chairwoman of Indonesian Association of Hotels & Restaurant (PHRI) Yanti Sukamdani welcomed the plans for more intensive promotional activities.
"The association is more than ready to welcome international tourists, because we now have a special agency to give certificates to tourism professionals."
"The agency will be launched Friday," Yanti said.
She brought a long wish list for the government though, from international airports to lower taxes on imported beverages.
"We need more international airports. For example, one third of tourists coming to Bintan were from Singapore, one third from Japan and Korea, and one third from everywhere else including Russia. Why don't we build an (international) airport over there?"
"We also need to give visas on arrival at more international gates, such as in Kupang and Merauke." Another wish was: "Cleaner toilets, especially in airports."
The tourism industry is a key foreign exchange income earner for Indonesia. In 2007, it brought $5.345 billion into the country.

Pitman, west-sumatra.com wrote :
Saya sendiri dan sebagian Putra Daerah dari West Sumatra selama ini melihat semut diseberang lautan kelihatan dan Gajah dikelopak Mata tidak tampak, ternyata Lance's Right, Mentawai-Indonesia termasuk perangkat no. 3 setelah Hawaii dan Tahiti perangkat 1 dan 2 dari Top 50 Surf Spots in the World bagi yang mengemari Sport Wave Surfing, dan Uluwatu-Bali dan Lakey Peak, Sumbawa-Indonesia termasuk perangkat ke 17 dan 19.
Top 50 Surf Spots in the World
This world contains so many good surf spots of every description - right hand points to please regular foots, long tropical lefts reeling over reef for goofy footers, punchy rivermouth waves, classic sandy beach and horrific-death barrels over reefs! Perfect waves are breaking all over the world right now. Somewhere out there, its goin off!
So what makes a one surf spot better than another? Most surfers would agree that the quality of the wave has to be very high. To be the best, it has to break consistently to be highly rated - however, if it breaks rarely it adds an air of mystery. Surfers are looking for a wave that provides a barrel section where the wave goes hollow. Also, the wave needs to be more than a 'flash in the pan'. So the longer it goes for the better!
We surfers love to at least dream about surfing the best waves so, short of taking you there, have a mind surf ... we have compiled the top 50 surf spots in the world.
3. Lance's Right, Indonesia - Remote and tucked away in the Mentawai Islands, Lance's Rights (Hollow Trees) is a world class right hander breaking sharply over shallow coral reef. Optimal size is 4-8 ft and is harder to surf than the surf mags make it look. Typically, getting to Lance's Right is a bit of a mission. Most people fly to Padang, stay overnight before catching a transfer out to the Mentawai Islands the next day. Its expensive too, Most people who surf the Mentawais go by charter boat and pay up to whopping $US450 per day! Take heart tho, you can do it cheaply aswell by staying in a camp up there. Find out more about surfing Lance's Right...
17. Uluwatu, Indonesia - Uluwatu is situated at the southern end of Bali and is a crowd hotspot. There are 4 different sections at Uluwatu; long and hollow 'Temples', 'The Peak' right below the warungs. Super fast, shallow but makeable barrel 'Racetrack', 'Outside corner' which is a breaks when swell is in the 8ft range. Read more about surfing Uluwatu...
19. Lakey Peak, Sumbawa-Indonesia - Lakey Peak is a long way from civilisation and a long way from help. This place goes off getting up to triple overhead and giving 150m lefts and shorter, punchier rights. Take the short flight from Bali if you can, otherwise you'll be spending a full day on an Indonesian ferry and minibuses to reach this spot. You'll have to get up early to get it good, onshores kick in around 10am everyday. Read more about surfing Lakey Peak
43. Macaronis, Mentawais - Taking a boat trip up into the Mentawis is called for at least once if you can afford it - most surfers spend well over $200 a day on a charter boat trip! Marconis is a world class, consistent 300m long lefthanders just waiting for you. The coral is sharp but the reward is high.

Ocean One November 6th, 2009, 06:06 PM Paket Wisata Indonesia Termurah di Dunia
Jumat, 6 November 2009
