I have an idea and I would like to hear what do you think about it. The idea is next - we could organize a new contest in which Jan (or someone else) would post a bad photo (no contrast, too white, sun problems...) and we should do our best to make it look nice.

The contest should 7 days (as Urban Photo Contest), and one forumer - one correctioned photo.

What do you think?

Judging photographic skill is much better than judging photoshop skill.

I think photography is a mixture of photographic skills and post-processing skills. However, I don't think I'd be interested in competing in such a contest, but the idea is pretty interesting, just not for me ;)

Amen. Lets petition Jan to make the unurban contest weekly and permanent. No need for gimmick contests.

Anyway, we could make a little test here, I'll try to find some "bad" photography and we will try to make it look better. If enough forumers participate, we could ask admin to make a contest one week, and than we'll see.

So far though the unurban contest has happened only once :( It seems like its being put into rotation with other contests, which sucks. I think it should be permanent like the UPC. But until it is, any new contests will delay the unurban one.

Oh, a permanant NUPC (Non-Urban Photo Contest*) would be great. No shit like ones in a month,no: we want permanant! :) We have a complete Photography Forum here, so why no NUPC? Maybe we should ask Jan...

Personally I insist on clouds, the same I did with this photo. I just used that Shadows option, lighten the photo and than increased the contrast. Finally I adjusted the colors and started my action (resizing, mask, name..) and that was it ;)

I can't afford PS, so I'm learning Gimp 2.0 with an enourmous book that was meant for Gimp 1.0. It's a slow process.
