wh92stang July 13th, 2005, 04:46 PM Hi everybody. I think it's time we get a Development News thread for Cincinnati, OH and the surrounding tri-state area. There's quite a bit going on in the city including the Banks proposal, Queen City Square, and the Fountain Square redevelopment.
Here is a website for the Cincinnati Center City Development Corp:

ISG July 18th, 2005, 05:16 AM Hi All:
I soon will be moving with my wife to the Cincinnati/Dayton area. Most likely somewhere north of Cincy and south of Dayton with proximity to I-75. Tring to determine which towns/neighborhoods are the best in terms of three factors: 1. quality of life/beauty of neighborhood community, 2. value (good amount of house for the money) and 3. upward trending community in terms of appreciating or likely to appreciate in the future.
Would really appreciate any advice, tips to focus omy search in the right areas. Thanks. :)
wh92stang July 18th, 2005, 03:07 PM There's a good section at cincinnati.com that profiles many of the communities in the greater Cincinnati area and will give you information on the location, school system, home listings, recreational activites, and a lot of other information.
Here is the link to a nice community north of town that I-75 cuts right through (West Chester/Liberty Township). There are many community links on the bottom of the page, and to view other communities around Cincinnati, the links are on the right-hand side of the page.
Hope this helps.
wh92stang July 20th, 2005, 03:19 PM In an article in the Cincinnati Enquirer this morning found here: http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050720/NEWS0103/507200368/1059/CINCI
It sounds like things are moving along very well on the Kentucky side of the river. Groundbreaking on the 21 story "Ascent" is scheduled to take place in October. This building will just to the west of the Roebling bridge and should be a great addition to the Kentucky Riverfront.
The Ascent

Also, East of Covington in nearby Bellevue, three mid-rise condo projects are in the process of being built as groundbreaking for the first occured this past February.
wh92stang July 22nd, 2005, 07:34 PM Recently, the issue of legalizing gambling in Cincinnati, and possibly putting riverboats on the river has been discussed. Here is a feature of local articles:

Do you guys all think it's a good idea or no? If you are from a city where gambling is legal, how has it affected your city?
Personally, I am all for it. Increased revenue and livelyhood downtown. I have never been to a casino before, and probably wouldn't go, but I know the Greater Cincinnati area has a very strong gambling market. Currently, there are casino's across the Ohio border in Indiana, that are very successful. Why should Cincinnati continue to let it's people spend money elsewhere rather than in their home city?
Weedrose July 23rd, 2005, 06:03 AM Casino's add very little to the region. Thery're costly in terms of human and real capital. Focus should be on strenthening the potential assets currently in plan instead of this.
SChristopher July 23rd, 2005, 06:51 AM Tell that to Mississippi, they definately can help the economy! Casinos may suck for taking advantage of people, having white bread soccer mom hag opponents and giving people low paying jobs, but lets face it its better than working at Wal-Mart. They draw people, people are going to gamble, it might as well be to Cincinnati's benefit.

Because we want the money.

leave the Casinos, KKK and inbreeding in Indiana... it's like going to the Zoo... great to visit.... would suck to live there....
just joking...
I think Cincy is lucky having the casinos 20 minutes away in Indiana. It's the one side of town that is still really undeveloped. And keeping a 3rd state in the mix, keeps Cincy quite unique.
Casinos in Indiana.
The Golden Triangle of Horse farms in Kentucky.
And the Blue Chip side of Cincy makes for a unique, interesting and diverse area.

Haha, yea I know... I was more asking more from the standpoint of city council.
SChristopher July 23rd, 2005, 05:29 PM "The Golden Triangle of Horse farms in Kentucky."
HAH, cute. Dont forget about your airport.
Weedrose July 26th, 2005, 04:20 AM Mississippi may benefit from it but my belief still stands. Currently there is a little over 2 Billion dollars worth of potential and currently being realized development from the riverfront to Uptown. The priority should be on that and making the type of improvements to the city that are vitally needed. Casinos for Cincinnati proper would only be a patch.
