Though I think now 7.5, has a nice collection of office/government buildings, with some nice height. The taller buildings seem a bit too spread out though, would be nicer to have some fill in and added density, good pics Oaronuviss, have you travelled to all thses cities?

JoHaN 15 April 16th, 2008, 05:37 PM I really like PTA, it's alot better than Johannesburg(dirty, backwards). Could use a couple of modern buildings and a signature tall one so i gave it a 9/10. PRAESTANTIA PRAEVALEAT PRAETORIA!!!
Jakes1 April 16th, 2008, 06:09 PM I really like PTA, it's alot better than Johannesburg(dirty, backwards). Could use a couple of modern buildings and a signature tall one so i gave it a 9/10. PRAESTANTIA PRAEVALEAT PRAETORIA!!!
Wouldnt refer to jozi as dirty or backwards... pretoria is more relaxed, less business orientated. In terms of the City Centres Jozi is cleaner, safer and it has loads more entertainment, great architecture, restaurants when compared to pretoria's rather bland nationalistic 1970's architecture.
In Pretoria I love the Union Buildings, Church Sqaure (and Cafe Riche), and the best Skyscraper in South Africa - the 40F South African Reserve Bank Building (1988). That is the big black one that people keep mentioning.
But Jozi has the money - and its municipality is doing more than Tshwane (Pretoria) in terms of refuse removal, safety and security and attracting investment. Comparison? in Jozi CBD you have headquarters for Anglo American, Anglo Ashanti, BHP Billiton, ABSA, FNB, Standard Bank and many more. In Pretoria CBD you have government departments, thats all.
So in my view Pretoria has always been more relaxed than Jozi, but in terms of culture, vibe and money, Pretoria is a tad less progressive.
JoHaN 15 April 19th, 2008, 12:33 AM Comparison? in Jozi CBD you have headquarters for Anglo American, Anglo Ashanti, BHP Billiton, ABSA, FNB, Standard Bank and many more.
Wow, My dad works at BHP billiton!
True, but johannesburg could do alot better, ive seen no new, proposed or currently under construction buildings in Johannesburg, Gauteng for that matter, in the past 10 years. They just never realize.:ohno:
Centurion got a mall revamp though (:banana:)
But the africa conference centre was proposed, construction to start Nov 2007, never even started to excavate.
Also the centurion lake tower (30fl) proposed, been more than a year later and still nothin'.
We just dont have a need for building high. I mean why build high if there's loads of land to develop.
Gauteng is just stagnant...
Pocholo April 19th, 2008, 01:26 AM Nice, 7.0.
Lydon April 19th, 2008, 06:21 PM Alot of building is going on in Sandton. Very many highrises are to come.
