Forget about WorldWind. Now Google has released a new satellite program that has much better resolution and runs faster on the server. It is called Google Earth, can easily be found be searching on Google and while you can see road and blurry blocks on WorldWind, you can actually see buildings, cars and the white lines on the road on Google Earth. The bad thing is that some parts are not so sharp by some reason. For example most parts of Malmö is high resolution while the east part hardly can be seen. I manage to find my house with its courtyard in Malmö.
Tokyo and Hong Kong are very sharp and high resolution, while it is hard to see anything in Shanghai. I hope that problem while be solved in the near future.
You can even see street names for most cities and for American cities you can see hotels, restaurants etc. For American cities there is also a function called 3D buildings.

this thing is AMAZING. Within two minutes or less I was in NYC, Paris, London, Austin and Mexico City, all at great to fairly-great resolution...and it tilts too...amazing!

i've downloaded this last week but only today i tried the 3d version, also, click on 'terrain', it's like a giant flight simulator!

You can look at Taipei, and some part of Beijing in a very high resolution.

too bad only São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia have high resolutions in Brasil. But you can see entire São Paulo from up-close till you see the cars...

The most incredible thing imho is the 3D buildings in american cities.

Its raelly good. But the thing is, I can't see anything in singapore or any other southeast asian city. I think that europe, NA and major cities around the world are shown in really great detail but some cities are left out IMO.

turn on terrain and buildings and look at Los Angeles. Incredible terrain in the metro area.

I noticed that some of the images are 2-3 years old, any clue on when they might update them?

^ To be very honest, 2-3 year old images is worth cheering about with such a free, comprehensive, and innovative satellite/aerial software program like Earth Google. Usually when you get a hold of such free imagery, it is older. Part of my job involves working with satellite imagery (and trying to obtain it for free, wherever possible, usually via public/government agencies, and they tend to be atleast 5 years old, but more often from the early 90s. For more recent stuff and/or smaller urban centers, you have pay-up hehe. You should have seen how old Mapquest's images were when they were offering imagery in addition to maps. But somehow, this thing looks promising. I too am for as current as possible imagery :)

They spelled Fujiyama "Fusiyama"

Chicago looks awesome when you turn the buildings option on.

I noticed a few other odd spellings besides just Fujiyama, especially in China.
