Tel Aviv-Yafo (Hebrew: תֵּל־אָבִיב-יָפוֹ‎; Arabic: تَلْ أَبِيبْ يَافَا), usually referred to as Tel Aviv, is the second most populous city in Israel, with a population of 384,600. Tel Aviv is located on Israel's Mediterranean coastline over an area covering 51.8 km². It is the main city of the largest and most populous metropolitan area in Israel, Gush Dan (Dan Bloc), whose population numbers 3.15 million as of 2007. Tel Aviv is recognized as a strong candidate global city, and has been named the most expensive Middle Eastern city to live in.

The City of Tel Aviv was originally founded in 1909 by Jewish immigrants as an alternative to expensive housing in the neighbouring historic port city of Jaffa (Hebrew: יפו‎, Yafo; Arabic: يافا, Yafa). Tel Aviv's extensive growth eventually overtook its Arab-majority neighbour, and the two towns were united into the municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo in 1950, two years after the establishment of the State of Israel. Tel Aviv is today considered the center of Israel's globally oriented economy, and is the anchor of the area popularly known as "Silicon Wadi". It is also considered Israel's cultural capital due to its vibrant, modern, cosmopolitan character. The city's Bauhaus architectured White City was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003.

Is this a capital of Israel?
Some of the buildings have some interesting design. wow..a big city right next to the beach..pretty cool.

dissapointing, I thought Israel cities would look better than that. Is that the entire skyline in the first picture? Maybe I'm just looking at bad pictures?

sure bad angles for the city, i've seen better pics anyways i think Tel Aviv has better design in skyscrapers than skyline so i'll give a 8/10

Great skyline, you just gotta look at it from a different angle!

The architecture is quite cool and fascinating...Honk Kongish, almost.

I like it, and it's really BOOMING, so get rteady for a drastic change pretty soon...

I give it a 7.4/10... (I shall give it a "7" on the poll)

I like Tel Aviv a lot, IMHO it's the best city in the Middle East. But if we speak about its skyline, I've to say that my opinion changes according to the pic. In some pics it looks great, but in others, I don't like it. Well, as I like the city, I'll give it 7/10

I really like Tel Aviv's skyline. It looks very Japanese--does anyone else feel this way?--with sporadic, decentralized clusters of modern buildings and intervening mid-level density. It has energy and kick to it.

Wow, quit impressive sky-skrapers for a city of about 350.000 (Utrecht will become that large, but I'm sure it wan't get such a sky-line!). But hey.. the region itself has more inhabitants than Rotterdam for example.
