ericnijmegen July 21st, 2005, 12:53 PM I don't get it:
You call it top domestic,
but you use the figures of domestic and international passengers added together....? :dunno:
Wezza July 21st, 2005, 12:56 PM ^ I know for a fact that the Oceania figures are for domestic only, so i'm assuming it's the same for the rest of the airports.
ericnijmegen July 21st, 2005, 01:16 PM ^ I thought that the Tokyo figures are for domestic AND international, so i'm assuming it's the same for the rest of the airports ;)
Or maybe I am just wrong
in that case: sorry, and thx for the list!
wjfox July 21st, 2005, 01:23 PM Erm... how come London is so low?
GregPz July 21st, 2005, 01:28 PM Sorry, forgot to mention it's only domestic figures  . I've edited the original post to include this.
JayT July 21st, 2005, 01:44 PM Erm... how come London is so low?
Possibly because Heathrow has mostly international traffic and much of London's domestic traffic goes through Luton, Gatwick and other smaller airports. Also England is a very small country and many more people would travel by train or bus rather than by air - like in Australia or the USA.
Figures would be high for Haneda/Tokyo because of the very fequent 747 shuttle services they have between there and all other major Japanese cities. Those Japanese domestic services are basically crammed full in all economy mode.
GregPz July 21st, 2005, 02:05 PM London's other airports have very low domestic passenger numbers. The only other UK airports handling a fair number of domestic passengers are Edinburgh & Glasgow.
birminghamculture July 21st, 2005, 02:15 PM Umm Im not to sure about these.
SE9 July 21st, 2005, 02:23 PM The figures look correct for # of domestic passengers...
For example, Tokyo Haneda only handles Tokyo's domestic flights, whilst Tokyo Narita handles International Flights, so Tokyo Haneda is top of the Asia List whilst Narita is not on it.
Like JayT said, Heathrow mainly handles international arrivals and departures, so the number of domestic passengers would be low.
GregPz July 21st, 2005, 02:43 PM Umm Im not to sure about these.
UK airports handle mainly international traffic. Eg. Birmingham 1.3 million domestic, 7.5 international. Manchester 3.3 dom, 17.7 intl. The only major UK airport to handle more domestic traffic is Edinburgh 5.7 dom, 2.3 intl.
DenverDane July 21st, 2005, 06:40 PM Impressive that Oslo made the list. Norway's got less than 5 million inhabitants, so they must really travel a lot by air!
Cheese Mmmmmmmmmmmm July 21st, 2005, 06:57 PM How many domestic passengers for HKIA and Changi?
AFL July 22nd, 2005, 10:14 AM How many domestic passengers for HKIA and Changi?

Nick in Atlanta July 23rd, 2005, 04:53 AM What is the status on Hong Kong flights to mainland Chinese cities and to Taiwanese cities? Are they considered "domestic" or "international." It's all semantics, but the mainland rulers in Beijing would pop a vein in their forehead if anything was not labeled to their likeing.
hkskyline July 23rd, 2005, 06:11 AM All flights in and out of Hong Kong are international. All foreign passengers must clear customs, even those from mainland China. This has nothing to do with what Beijing wants. Rather, it is a continuation of the border crossing in place since the British colony was born. At this time it is unwise to drop the border since Hong Kong is far wealthier than the richest Chinese city.
SkylineTurbo July 23rd, 2005, 06:17 AM How many domestic passengers for HKIA and Changi?

samsonyuen July 23rd, 2005, 11:42 AM Wow, the picture in North America is so different. Toronto's not even in the top 10.

What about the experimental flights from Taiwan over Hong Kong SAR and onto mainland China. How would those be labeled by Taiwanese and mainland Chinese officials?
Effer July 24th, 2005, 05:30 AM Wow, the picture in North America is so different. Toronto's not even in the top 10.
Cause Toronto does not have alot of Domestic Airlines.
