These are some seperate shots I took of Luna Park when I was going around the other weekend photographing Milsons Point (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=235799) etc. One thing I never realised was how close the park is to a large number of apartments. At the northern end of the park you could seemingly walk up to peoples balconys.

Beautifully crystal clear shots Ipggi!!

Looks so well patronised, which is good to know.

Luna Park first opened in 1935, and the original was apparently built mainly by many workers who had just completed the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The spires on either side of the entrance face were modelled on that of N.Y.C.'s Chrysler Building's crown:

The wall of apartments in this pic is just unbelievable:

Art deco meets art deco:

All the Turkish onion dome/orb work is great too, like my fav on the 19th C. Lands Department near The Quay:

Great pictures, I remember going to Luna Park years ago, back in the pre-ghost train fire and Big Dipper accident days.

It's a shame some of those apartment owners are so against the park, and also managed to get the other roller coaster closed.

Yeah without the roller coaster Luna Park is really only a place for pre-teenage children.

As for those faces, some of those are very odd looking indeed, specially face four that was built just after WW2. It looks so suspicious lol. And don't even get me started on the St Kilda face. Maybe they were just modelled on popular clown poses of the day? :P
