View Full Version : Purple Aki, Man or Myth? John Matrix 1985 July 25th, 2005, 05:29 PM Do you think he woud put off tourists planning to come to Liverpool in 2008? General Zod July 25th, 2005, 05:36 PM The man was jailed in December last year and will not be out until he is at least 48. Despite all the silly rumours about him he is basically just a Merseyside looney who needs to stay in Jail. Maybe Mike Storey got him banged up to make sure all the craziest criminals were cleaned off the streets for 2008 ? The menace is off the street and the only stories to ensue will come from behind prison walls. John Matrix 1985 July 25th, 2005, 05:52 PM I have heard many stories about this guy, the squats, chasing people, "p" or pop, stalking all the Wigan Rugby League team, being killed about 5 times and his father being an important African diplomat. I'd say about 2 per cent of it is true. Scarecrow July 25th, 2005, 07:59 PM He's on holiday in Toronto from what I've heard. Little bastard... scouserdave July 25th, 2005, 08:53 PM Do you think he woud put off tourists planning to come to Liverpool in 2008? The real life nightmare of any young boy. If he "bothered" any of my kids, I would snuff out his life. Fact  sloyne July 25th, 2005, 09:48 PM He's on holiday in Toronto from what I've heard. So that is what the bad smell is. Wondered where it was coming from. I don't think he'll enjoy the weather, it is presently 34c with the humidex standing at 47c, makes it feel like 116f. :) kev July 26th, 2005, 09:33 AM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_Aki http://www.sthelenstoday.net/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=70&ArticleID=713136 http://blog.urbanomic.com/sphaleotas/archives/flying_purple_people_eater.jpg A MAN described by detectives as a “predator” because of the way he terrorised the lives of more than 100 young sportsmen has been sent to prison for six years. Akinwale Arobieke, known universally as ‘Purple Aki’, was sentenced to a six-year jail term after pleading guilty to 15 counts of harassment and a charge of intimidating a witness. The conviction at Preston Crown Court followed an exhaustive police investigation into Arobieke, 42, from Liverpool, in which 123 young men and teenage boys, mostly from St Helens, were interviewed. Detectives involved in the probe, codenamed ‘Operation Ice’, revealed how ‘Aki’, about 6ft 2ins tall and powerfully built, would target young men. Most often the youngsters would be involved with gyms, colleges, and rugby league clubs, both professional and amateur, in St Helens and other rugby league heartlands in the North West. Obsessive Described by the parent of one of the young men targeted, as an “urban myth in the flesh”, the notorious Arobieke would often approach his victims and ask to feel their muscles. Detective Superintendent Mike Dale said: “In his summing up, the judge referred to Arobieke harassing teenagers aged from 13 years upwards, stopping them in the street and engaging in physical contact which was obsessive and going on to take a bizarre interest in their physical and muscular development. “Over time this has caused his victims to give up social and youth activities like rugby, gym training, and paper rounds because of repeated incidents when they have been terrorised as the result of being followed home all hours of the day and night. “This is an outstanding example of a tenacious and professional investigation by the detectives in St Helens, in particular Detectives Kilgannon, Pennington, and Johnson, working in partnership with the force’s crimes operation unit. Traumas “The officers listened with compassion to the traumas expressed by the victims and gave them every possible means of support.” At court on Monday, 31 indefinite restraining orders were placed against Arobieke, meaning that he cannot come into contact with victims or witnesses involved in the case. Arobieke has been in prison for the past two years after being convicted of a separate charge. [St Helens Star, 2003-12-18.] scouserdave July 26th, 2005, 09:53 AM Thanks Kev. I remember the stories from my school days, he's the bogyman that was the source of countless rumours and grisly episodes in deserted parks etc. Odd to think he's just some nutter who had an obsession with 'muscular development'... scouserdave May 16th, 2006, 06:02 PM Stupid fucking thread to start up again IMHO :deadthrea ReelCrazy May 16th, 2006, 06:06 PM He felt my mate up in the Mystery park, Wavertree. Steve C May 16th, 2006, 07:32 PM better suited to a liverpool forum with a broader range discussions. I do often wonder why these threads start on SSC. Don't suppose you know of any? :okay: You're right though. People sometimes forget that this isn't a general Liverpool board. Anyway, Gareth is now a mod and I'm sure he'll be along soon enough to sort out this kind of thing. scouserdave May 16th, 2006, 07:48 PM I also wonder why people who question the merits of certain threads, keep bumping them up with their questions!?
