That's Inglewood. I don't think I've really ever been to South Gate, so somebody else just Google Search it.

And where you at in L.A, LA Lover ?
CaliBrotha I know where he at already.

How's the weather there now ? It's freaking hot and humid as hell here.

LA Lover I think lives up in the Valley  . "Like totally SUPER! Like...let's go shopping!" You know that type of place.

But man, aerial pictures don't do Inglewood justice. I thought I had some pictures but I can't find them. Inglewood is a dope looking place, it's not all a ghetto, it's not all nice, it's just....Inglewood. I'd say its kinda like Brooklyn, just trade the huge tenements for 2 and 3 story apartments.

Well, that's a stereotype, but as far as I'm concerned, all up in that area, they all act like that. I don't go up there though, it's WAY too hot and it just feels superficial.

StormShadow

I don't see NYC as ghetto anymore. When I was younger sure. Once I got older and I seen more places, it don't look that ghetto, infact, I'm from the Eastt New York section in BK, NYC. I seen some of L.A live and in person and also it don't look all that ghetto like "pop culture" make it seem.

BTW: I got family in Oxnard in Ventura county.

From what i see.....the main part of the San Fernando Valley is a run down village full of mexican barrios....besides Burbank , Northridge ,Encino & Woodland Hills

No... Pacoima is not great area (maybe, it's worst area in valley) but Panorama City, Van Nuys, Sun Valley and Sylmar is alright.

Yeah, Cali lacks humidity. You don't know what it is to go outside nice and fresh and so clean and dry only to end up sticky and wet under 5 minutes. Horrid! :tongue3:

I'm looking for some pics. See if I find any to post.

I did a photo tour of Inglewood on this forum about a year ago. I have photos, but I'll have to search my disk for them. It probably won't be today since I'm on my way out to Santa Monica to take my nieces to hang out. Anyway Inglewood isn't as bad as white folks like to make it out to be. Its acutally a middle-class black neighborhood with a mixture of white and latino residents. There are some nice areas, but some of their commerical strips are something to be desired. Market Street isn't run down slummy, its just not that interesting. From what I've seen the weekends along this stretch can be busy, but there are not Starbucks, or Jambo Juice, and Gap Stores. Although there's at least one coffeehouse, soul food restaurants, and barber shops. Now the part thats give it the bad rep mostly the southern part of the city near the Hollywood Race Track. Its not a bad city, and proably right now with real estate so high one of the cheapest. You can get more for your money, a nice home in a decent area of Inglewood for less than comparable areas of LA.

South Gate on the other hand is mostly latino, and is a well kept city. Once it was home to many white mid-westerns that didn't want black or latino folks moving in. In fact my latino side of the family moved in during the late 50's. They would awaken to burning crosses in their yard. No one ever treated them bad in their face, but there were a few incidents the cross burnings. Most black folks don't hang around this area too much as it has a rep as not being hospitable to them. I don't know of anyone ever having any problems. My sister family lives in the next city over in Lynwood, and they sometimes shop in South Gate. Also Magic Johnson has a Starbucks in South Gate. Its nothing too exciting, but its a decent looking older suburban city.

It's not means as rundown... SFV is majority white population at once in 70's and became more serious white flight problem over LA County. Alot of white families are move out from apartment as more Latino are moving in but not much demographic changed on house. I believe, all apartment is already completely Latino as white population declined is end or became slowly. I know, it's has problem with spanish speaking language and social like culture or other stuff. Real Estate is going be more and more expensive in valley area as Latino families will topping out or growing so slowly. SFV is still beautiful after hugely demographic changed in 90's. Not all of valley are Latino but just list with Pacoima, Sun Valley, North Hills, Sylmar, Panorama City and Van Nuys is majority Latino right now.

I heard there are alot of Neo-Nazi's at some parts of the valley. I heard this from someone I know that lives in the Valley in a hood called Chatsworth. He claims his dad was a prono "kingpin" in the 70's and that the valley is filled with porn studios.

Sorry but I guess I deleted most of the photos from the server where I kept these. This is what was left, and these aren't exactly showing the best side of the city. I do have my collection on CD, so I will search and post them later.

Btw, the day I took these was a cool and gloomy day.

These are from the more gritty side of the city. Most of the city's grit is on the southern edge of the city. To be fair there are still some well kept neighborhoods on the southern edge. I just didn't cover it.
