Interesting list, especially the PPP adjusted figure and I'm quite surprise our per cap income is higher than Turkey.

Luxemburg... !!!!
according to this an `average' family of 4 should have income well over
200,000 $... close to 300,000$ !!

and I don't know about PPP... they seem too arbitrary...

That's because the cost of living in Thailand is quite cheap compared to the income. So, the PPP(purchasing power parity) adjusted GDP per capita made Thailand increased its ranking.

The ppp adjusted figure is so much fairer than the GDP per capita. I think it's totally unfair to compare a cheap stuff countries to those expensive countries. Besides, what a pity for Thailand, if we didn't let the currency float during the crisis. The GDP per capita would be much higher.

Yeah at that time(1996-97),our GDP (PPP) per capita was about 8,000 US whilt Malaysia was 9,000-9,800 and South Korea was about 14,000-15,000 and Mexico was just behind us at 7,800 or something.
When the Asian crisis occured , South Korea may be the only one that kept on growing. Now South Korea GDP (PPP) per capita is about 22,000.

And I had known that GDP (PPP) per capita of Bangkok is quite very high (may be about 20,000 now) but don't have evidence to prove here.
