After 3 years of speculation it looks like this development will at last be taking off, although I must say I allways thought it would. I think we were too quick to dismiss the scheme because we heard no news. Take the Unity development, I remember informing this forum in 2000 about plans for the site, building work is now in progress but it will not be finished until 2007, thats 7 years. The facts that we know for King Eddies are, (1) architects DTR:UK were asked to produce plans for a 20 storey building, then new plans for a taller tower(approx. 48 floors), (2) one of our forumers, can't remember who, checked the councils planning portal and noticed the pub and surrounding area had been bought by developers, (3) a leading city center estate agent hinted a tall tower was to be built on the site, and today the lads who went to the Cheiftan presentation were told to expect news in the next couple of weeks about the development. Everything seems to be moving along nicely, lets hope it is 48storeys or taller.

Lets hope that this one goes ahead, there was a grainy picture in black & white posted on this site a while back but i dont know if it was the actual plans or just a mock up that somebody had done. The only objections I can see are from the residents at Beetham Tower one who will complain that their views will be further obstructed, just like when permission was granted for the second Beetham Tower. There is no logical reason for EH to reject it but obviosly one of the idiot quangos will stick an objection in.

The property developer according DTR's website is Vantage Developments.
I hope it's not this one (http://217.199.181.112/creditreports/viewCompanyDetails.do?companyId=NI037544) :wtf:

Vantage Properties was the first I searched for (DTR name them both on the website). There's a company in London called Vantage Properties & Management Ltd who don't answer their phone :bash:

A decent highrise there, with some meaty midrise development where the warehouse units are, coupled with West Tower, Unity, Prinny Dock and the stuff already built= Fooking brilliant urban environment!

that whole area is ripe for development, its just all derelict land and small industrial premises which could easily be moved to places like speke/east lancs rd etc, just imagine what that area could look like in the future, a new 21st century commercial heart for liverpool, dont forget canary wharf sprang up from a similar area

They look like they could be listed, would prefer the Costco and the corrugated tin boxes in the foreground to go instead. Keep the old buildings for character.

I'd like to see the taller Sprague Bros. building retained, with something decent behind, like the Prince of Wales pub on London Road has been done up. :)

If Maro get the knockback 2moro for Brunswick, do u think that there would be tons of objection if they moved it to this site? - I reckon it would look great there

I personally don't think BQT looks that great. I wouldnt object to it, as wherever it goes, it will really help to regenerate and revitalise the areas around it, but in terms of quality, I feel BQT is a little cumbersome and spartan. I'm not a big fan of massive and boring, I prefer more intricate designs.

I'd prefer a tower as tall, but of a more slender style to go on King Eddies - the footprint ain't huge anyway. I was parked on the junction with Leeds street earlier today (in what is commonly known as a traffic jam), and I sat looking at the site imagining a soaring skyscraper looming above the interchange - it's such a perfect site :D

It would be fantastic there, with Beethams 2 towers on the other side, a sort of "gateway into the city", lets hope someone gets onto the idea and submits a decent building that EH cant object to or LCC can't fuck up.
