Let me open up the discussion..

We need to agree on few things:
1. Let start with a small scope, our website will show only building.

Plan:
1. Short Term: Complete userbased database driven website.
2. Mid Term: As above but with airports, subways etc etc. Premiere Indo database.
3. Long Term: Paid subscription like emporis?

Hosting:
Dont worry about hosting. I can donate for now. But once the traffic/disc space become high - we talk about it again. However, I am thinking to include google text ads.

Donate your skills:
Who have PHP and mySQL skill and know how to do website with session, gd library?

WHAT WE NEED TO DO FOR NOW IS (sorry.. caps):
What data will be included for each building?

tata
July 28th, 2005, 07:59 PM
Sanhen, I thought it's more than just building.

I know Oracle quite well so I believe mySQL won't be difficult to learn. I have mySQL installed in my PC.

Any opinion from others?

sorry for the triple post. but i want to write this in separate message:

Basically this is what each database entry will looks like. Of couse some entry are considered "not needed", but thats okay, for future upgrade. Some entry are optional, some are not.

BUILDING DATA:
- Name
- Street Address
- City
- Province
- Status (proposed, build, never build, in development)
- Photo (each photo will have individual credit)
- GPS location
- Height to top
- Height to spire
- No of floors
- Total Area
- Years completed build
- Years start building
- Architect
- Contractor
- Owner
- Type (accomodation, mixed use, office etc)
- Number of floors
- Cost to build
- Group (eg. say this building name is Kuningan Tower I, so this building must belong to group "Kuningan Tower")
- No of Parking space
- Body Corporate (building manager)
- Nearest Train Station
- Nearest bus stop
- Nearest eateries
- Leasee

- more .. ?

Thats good tata. Only basic SQL statement is needed. Do you know PHP?

It will be more than just building. But IMHO, lets start with building only. A prototype. Once the basic is ready, we can start branching to another area.

As first step I want someone to help me to work on "Photo Catalog System". Without a photo catalog system, this whole project is useless.

What need to be included is:
- Image uploader
- Automatic watermarking using GD library
- Automatic resizer again - using GD library

For SQL dont worry, I know it well. PHP, I'll learn quickly. I got this book PHP, Apache, mySQL development book.

That's what I can do, But I cannot help you on photo cataloging.
Let's move quickly. Mumpung masih panas nih ;)

P.S.

Thanks Tata, now I can have an idea what that book contents is.

As for your php installation, I suggest you to install phpMyAdmin (search at www.sourceforge.net). Its a web based interface to mySQL. Will helps you a lot.

Your php version is 4.3.0+ yea?
Also.. I assume that a windows installation?

I'll check later. meanwhile I'm testing my Apache, it works but it's kind of slow. Also I'm learning PHP.... luckily monday is holiday so I can read more.

For others: pls pls get involved guys.... share your idea. Technically we're clear what to use BUT I have no single idea what will be the contents!!!

I have made something like this for the past couple of weeks, check out heee://www.indo360.com/article/cityinfo.asp . Change the heee to http.

Actually I want to make it as a surprise, but I intend to ask indo forumer for ur photo, etc.

About this website, I use:
ASP, MSSQL, ASPSMART, a little ASP.net, but maybe I have to minimize the use of asp.net since there is a problem in sharing session.

For the admin interface: heee://www.indo360.com/admin/ .

Please dont break it for a while, it's still under construction around 15-20% so far, and it is hosted in my computer in amsterdam.

Hope u guys like it.

Currently, the website is very very2 heavy, I couldn't find any free script to edit the file size for every uploaded images. And I'm still testing my new added piece of memory to see whether it's compatible with my old one or not, so perhaps ^_^ the website could suddenly crash.

Thx guys, well I hope I could finish the interface for the Indo city in less than a month. About the content, I'll let the users to put their images or info themself. So I think it's a good idea to put a little of ur own trademark in every pic.

Anyway, since the interface is not final yet, if u guys have any better ideas about how the website should look or be used, just tell me. I haven't decide any mid till long term planning so far.

Thx Blue sky, anyway how big the indo city project u guys want? And what kind of data do we have to put on site? and How should I give credits to u?

Currently I only have heee://www.indo360.com/article/builder/projectbuilder.asp to add new project on page. It's not fully operational, still has a lot of bugs, but it suppose to work for any simple threads. U could try that one. <-change heee to http. Nicely done wS!

I think we can just use your project instead of making a new one.
Tata, what do you think?

However.. the problem is, your website using ASP, while I was targeting PHP. I dont have any Windows web hosting. I have PHP web hosting. So we need another host. I dont think your net connection is strong enough to host it.

Also, I know ASP.NET but my ASP is limited. My windows test system at home is ASP.NET but no way I can host it (dynamic IP). And I am more to PHP though.

Design wise, you have different layout approach than mine. I like your logo and domain name very much.

Oh, is it possible to share the tables later on? In case I want to do my own project in the future.

Sanhen don't worry about hosting, I'm planning to rent or buy virtual machine somewhere. Anyway I have to go now, will come back in next 6 hours, I'll post more thingies later on.

Agree. We can use his instead of creating another one from scratch. This means we can focus more on the content soon.

Thx Sanhen for ur appreciation, anyway we can combine our skill to create something more advance than this. I'm also familiar with PHP, but I think it's unwise if I have to change all the coding from asp to php. I choose MSSQL coz I'm afraid I'll need to have an automatic backup in the future while oracle is too heavy and not too popular for a website database, and mysql is too simple, not many functions available. About the table u ask, how can I share the contents dynamically, is it possible to do so? In the future I'm planning to add information not only about the building property but also the use of each construction, something like restaurant, hotel, etc. Hopefully I still have the energy to do it ^^.

My concern now is how to give each indo forumer in here credits about ur or their photos, magnificent threads, etc on the site. CUrrennly i have the idea to put all the contributors name in the about indo360 page, maybe a real name is better.

Here is my current table field for a new construction added in the database:
Project Name
Project Location (the city)
Project Description
Project Status (completed, u/c, planned)
Project Completion Date
Project Starting Date (when is it start u/c)
Project Location (address)
Project Type(type of the construction: skyscraper-low rise building-....u name it)
Project Area Size(how big is the area size) ???
Project Usage (office-appartment,.....u name it)
Project Total Building(how many building) ???
Project Developer
Project Facility ???
Is a city Landmark?
Project Info Source(credits)
Projectimages(only the path)

If u or tata or other forumers have any other ideas or suggestions, just tell me.

If you can provide the server then no need to convert the coding to PHP. I was worried for the server availability.

Yes I believe it is possible to share the content dynamically. Just use XML / RSS feed. Of course I am not talking sharing in realtime, it will bog down the servers. But maybe at one stage, say we manage to build another website, we can share some of the contents.

For photo, how about watermarking each of them? I think watermarking is important.

wS

For photo, how about watermarking each of them? I think watermarking is important.

I'll try to find an asp script to automatically add watermarking text whenever the user upload the image. If you have one and for free, I'll like to try that one ^_^.

I hope the first edition of indo360 will be finish before 17 august. Next week, I hope we already can put a real content in it. Currently, I have to fix the login function and some bugs in the system. Later on I'll open the city construction administration page only for indo skyscrapercity forumer in the early stage.

About the server, I'll buy or rent a virtual machine probably which is hosted in singapore or usa, maybe I'll try to find a sponsor or private funder for the server, since it could be expensive (begging Sutiyoso ^_^). But this might could be materalize in 3-6 more months until I launch the release version of indo360.

Helo ppl, can someone help me find a good picture to be put in the main header for city surabaya, balikpapan, etc ^_^. So far, I have made the Jakarta and Bandung header for the city info. You can see it in the top of heee://www.indo360.com/article/cityinfo.asp . I tried to search for surabaya landmark pic but i couldn't find any nice quality surabaya image on the net ^_^.

<-- change the heee to http.

And so far,I think i have fixed the new project insertion form on the admin page. You can use it via: heee://www.indo360.com/article/builder/projectbuilder.asp or go to the admin page: heee://www.indo360.com/admin/ . Please try it out and report to me if you find any bugs or uncomfortable interface in it , I'll erase the database next friday so don't put alot of effort to make a new project in it. Btw should we put the new project form in front, so the public user can use it or just only accessible by all the board administrators?

sanhen
August 2nd, 2005, 04:56 PM
U can use one of those suramadu bridge photo for surabaya.. its on http://www.suramadu.com

Balik papan maybe that barito bridge. Have some pics in balikpapan thread there.

wait... why all bridge? lol..

no no.. dont think we should put the form in front. you talking about the interface to insert data right?

In the end I couldn't finish the indo360 on schedule :p Anyway you should see the different from 3 weeks ago - it's not finished yet, I temporarily cut some cities from being listed over there.

Check it out: www.indo360.com

And also please register your new account on indo360, temporarily I set all the new account with the administrator level. After you register, there will be a link to go to administration page.
Or you might want to use username:"administrator" and password:"administrator"

I have decided to only dedicate this website to SSC Indonesia project urban database. I think I should discuss this matter further with some of us.

In the meantime, I tried to find a suitable and cheap webhosting to host this site, please let me know if you guys know where is the good and cheap place to host this asp/asp.net with SQL2000 site.

Alright ppl, I just moved the indo360.com to a real webhosting place, at last hehehe. I got a great deal for this hosting place with 50gb bandwith, 1 gb hd, and 3 different database connectivity., I hope this is sufficient for starter webby.

Anyway, You can already access the website: "www.indo360.com",

You are welcome to add articles about on going or completed project in Indonesia, currently I only open 3 cities menu, Jakarta, Bandung , and Surabaya, but in the near future, I'll add more and more cities.
Oya don't forget to register, early registered account will got temp access to the administration site ^_^.

And thx to David80, Alvin, Sanhen, Zorobabel, and Encon, your positive remark or contribution for this site really helps me.

Please post any feedback about the feature or other things about the site here. I'll try to improve its capability again and again and again......and again.

Can u give more information or contact person (phone or email) for the contractor or consultant of the project. Indonesia like ur content may be u can more details to write the project concepts. U can improve not just the concept of fasade buildings but u can give information of the interior.

Is this about indo360 Dokong96? or I'll fell embarrassed hehehe.
Anyway the indo360 project was halted for 3 days since I have to move to my new home, quiet sad coz I only have to live here for 2 more months.

About the building interior, that's a good idea, but frankly speaking I depend on this forum for the content source but most of the informations you can find in this forum are not interior oriented but more to the city skyline. Currently I don't have access to Indonesian property magazine, therefore I'm afraid that I couldn't maintain the interior updates for most building threads. But I'll consider about it, probably if you or someone could give me hints about where to find information about interior design, then this interior module would be doable.
And about the developer's contact information, I'll wait until I get back to Indonesia next October or November to discuss about this matter directly with those developers.

Next on indo360:
- CBD informations
- Vision plan
- more function oriented, so user can find malls, hotels, etc
- User's rating and comments
- More on city info especially Jakarta, I'll use Encon's article about Jakarta city guide.
- Interior updates *still in consideration

I hope those all new modules can be implemented before mid October ^_^.
