woodhousen July 28th, 2005, 08:02 PM Heard about this on the news thinking it was going to be similar in scale to the one that hit selly oak a few years back and scared the sh*t out of me when i was my back garden doing the lawn.....
hoqwever, turns out this destroyed houses and injured people. THE WORST TORNADO IN BRITISH HISTORY ....met saying the winds reched speeds of 130mph.....

birminghamculture July 28th, 2005, 08:04 PM The funny thing is I know a construction company which the council put on "disaster standby" directly after 07/07 - I bet they didnt think the reason for more work would be because of a Tornado.
birminghamculture July 28th, 2005, 08:08 PM well BBC have just upped there story from 12 Injuries to 19

brum2003 July 29th, 2005, 12:12 AM god it rained heavy too, scary
NothingBetterToDo July 29th, 2005, 12:22 AM wasnt there a tornado in coventry a year or 2 ago???
hehe...england has its very own tornado alley....
Steve-e-b July 29th, 2005, 10:50 AM Apparently there are 30 tornados a year in this country, usually very weak ones. This one was a T4 - on a scale of 1 to 10! - I dread to think what a T9 or 10 could do.
pirlo_21 July 29th, 2005, 12:49 PM apparently a baby died too
blackcountryboy July 29th, 2005, 08:17 PM I was in the city centre when the tornado came. It was a really bad storm but I didnt think a tornado was around!! I cant believe all that damage was caused. scarey!! LOL
ferge July 30th, 2005, 10:09 PM Seems these freak storms are becoming more common in the UK :S What with the Preston tornado not so long ago that ripped rooves off many houses and now this :S
woodhousen July 30th, 2005, 10:27 PM ...wasnt even aware preston had a tornado lol
Martin G August 1st, 2005, 12:38 AM I know a lot of musicians in various bands (even one I used to help out on drums with til recently) that live in the Moseley area. In fact one of them has his house just a few blocks away from one of the worst damaged streets (Birchwood Road) - he lives on Woodbridge Road. I have no idea whether they escaped unscathed or were in the thick of it. Quite worrying obviously. That was one nasty muthafucka of a twister that one - think of what might have been if it veered even nearer towards the city centre.
woodhousen August 1st, 2005, 02:15 AM doesnt bare thinking about, all that glass getting ready to explode and those alleys wuld have acted as brilliant wind tinnels accelerating any winds making them even more deadly!
hoody August 3rd, 2005, 12:04 PM i can't believe all these families being up in arms and wanting compensation from the council for rebuilding their house. It's their own bloody fult for not having house insurance. i know that the tornado wasn't expected but come off it...... F*ckwits!!!
pirlo_21 August 3rd, 2005, 01:33 PM excatly, there was this one guy moaning that he could not afford the £500 insurance, and that the council should pay up, i bet he could pay for a big screen tv or a flash car, tossers the lot of them, NO WAY SHOULD THE COUNCIL FORK OUT, what about us lot who HAVE paid
although it was nice to see misterwhitby get a rollocking from the people to his face
Steve-e-b August 3rd, 2005, 06:41 PM although it was nice to see misterwhitby get a rollocking from the people to his face
Yes, it's hard to admit that Whitby has got it right this time.
But, hey, the law of averages says the council's gotta get something right!
