plus points... http://www.wdisneyw.com/forums/images/smilies05/lens.gif

Allianz Arena
+ roof more enclosed means a better atmosphere
+ outside changes colour

Wembley
+ partly retractable roof
+ alot bigger

it's a tie!

Wembley easily. Alianz arena looks nice at night but in the day I don't particularly like it. Wembley on the other hand amazes me.

gosh...definatly wembley.......the allianz arena looks like some sort of giant fungus.....but to be fair it does look good at night.....unfortunaly the sun pops out every half day or so...and we are forced to see it in its true form........a bulbous blob

It's very different the Allianz stadium, like a big inflatable inner tube... :) i like it for it's uniqueness, the inside looks standard bowl shape. Wembley is Luxurious, it's the Bentley of stadiums.

Wembley by a million miles.

Compare the Allianz to the Emirates Stadium....but not untill the ES is finished.

pshh, Webley by far. Much bigger and much better looking. The other one looks like a pillow with a hole in it.

Allianz versus Wembley? Is this a joke thread? We have the FA cup for mis matches like that - Chelsea versus Scunthorpe, Liverpool versus Yeovil etc

Wembley is much larger, much more awe inspireing, and has a much better technical profile. Offering brilliant viewing sights, comfort and acoustics. Alliaz is impressive, I'd love it in the UK, but it does look rarther odd. Reminds me of a tub of wet wipes. Just can't compare to the Ultimate football stadium in the world.

If I threw a dart at one of the bubble panles...would it pop?

Me im still undecided on if I like the AA or not...I think the outside is bland....but I must be one of the few than actually likes the inside...except for the underside of the roof.

Sir Miles Platting

It's not really a fair comparison. One is a club stadium.
The other will (maybe one day within the next 18 months if we're lucky) be the country's national football stadium.....

The exterior is anything but bland. It's much better than the bog standard Wembely exterior. And as a football ground it wouldn't surprise me one bit, if it creates better atmosphere than Wem-ber-lee.

I like to see detail

I mean, you cant tell its a stadium.

And I wouldnt call Wembleys exterior bog standard.

It's still not bland. And it matters not whether you think it looks like a stadium or not. I mean so what? Infact it's very slick and credit should got to architects for having the balls to design something that's so different. I love it. Especially when the area around the stadum is under snow. . . (the stadium then does really look like a picture)

and yes, as much as I like the interior, you'd have to biased to say wembley's exterior's anything but standard fare. But it doesn't matter. Football stadiums are all about the interior.

I'm not a fan of the inside of Allianz. Looks boring, maybe it's the colour of the seating....although Newcastle haven shown grey seating doesn't always look boring.

However, I like the outside of Allianz, it's an amazing feat of architecture. That's not to say Wembleys exterior is bad, the use of screens allow Wembley businesses to possibly advertise on these screens-a bit like a revolving advertising hoard. Very clever indeed. But Allianz is very clever, I don't think I've seen anything like the outside before.

It'll take more than a fancy design and lighting show to beat a stadium that is steeped rich in tradition, and was once described as the 'church of football' by the one and only Péle. You won't get the ghosts of conflicts past, running through your viens at the Allianz Arena will you?? - Wembley however has nearly 100 years of history behind it. It's an unfair comparison but I like them both for very different reasons. ;)

I'm certainly looking forward to the new Wembley. But how can you really compare 'em if one stadium isn't finished yet?
Wembley is much more expensive and bigger. It's like comparing a BMW 7 to a Bentley. I agree that it would make more sense to compare it to the Emirates Stadium. And don't forget that the Allianz Arena is completly owned and paid by both Bayern and 1860 Munich. So it's not a matter of prestige like Wembley. It's an affordable investment. I find it kind of strange that it's not used for club football. How does it pay off?

As for the Allianz Arena, I've seen it for myself when I watched Bayern against Dortmund in may. What I liked most is that everyting is focused on being as close to the pitch as it's allowed today by FIFA and that you have an excellent view from every seat in the stadium. There is nothing in the way. No roof, no bars.
The seats are really good and comfortable. And they look modern. The silvergray just fits. With Bayern (red) and 1860 (blue) that rules out two of the most popular colours for seats. So what's left? Green, yellow, black? No thanks!
And if the stadium is filled with people it's red or blue in the inside, too.

It will be used for club football. In all there will be about as many games there as in a club stadium. And there cant be too many games there, anyway, as the number of events allowed is probably limited

erm, that's bollocks. Including league games, two cups, friendlies and European games, a big club with a 60000 stadium will use their stadium at least 30 times a season, even a small club like QPR used their stadium 29 times last season! Wembley will be not get even close to 30 games a season!

why is it our stadiums always choose that cheap red colour for the seats? I think that grey/ white would of made wembley look far smarter.

deanfwj

Yes ..smart like a white wall with grey boarders...... Red white and blue kinda fits with England and Great Britain (Rugby League)... I do however think you've got a point as with the quality of the seats, they do look rather comfortable and of high quality.

lets count em'

2 fa cup semis
1 fa cup final
1 league cup final
4 league play off finals
1 LDV final or whatever it's called these days
1 fa vase final
1 community shield..

plus

1 challenge cup RL game

10 ish england games

i make that about 21 games....thats not that bad

a premier league stadium is only guaranteed 19 home games..and they only play 1 or 2 frendlies @ home before the season..most are played away, atleast from premier league teams anyway.

Indeed. Also the FA trophy, but perhaps the number of England games is a little high. Then again I wouldnt be surprised to see non-England internationals at Wembley in the future. It will be interesting to see what kind of crowds will be at Emirates for the Argentina v Brazil fixture.

I believe the football league have also considered expanding the play-off format leading to more finals.

Also rugby Union.
Speculative yes, but New Zealand are considering moving some home games abroad as they need cash to develop their provincial game and they arent making much with their small scattered population and poor small venues, while their all-blacks brand is gold-dust to sell in London. There isnt a much more obvious place to rent than Wembley.

Also there will be an ANNUAL cricket 20/20 world cup from next year and probably coming to England every 4-5 years.
Cricket at Wembley may sound mad but should the top games really be at Lords where even a county 20/20 can fill the place, especially when
Wembley is basically perfect for 20/20 as that game requires smaller boundaries.
Also the wembley roof can be pulled back to let the entire field be drenched in sunshine as a real cricket venue.

Wembley will have plenty of fixtures and as many as the average club
