I actually recently moved into a new building in the Mt. Vernon in midtown Baltimore. I took these pics while I was checking out the neighborhood before I moved in.

Thanks. Its a great neighborhood. Its a very trendy alternative to living in the more expensive downtown Baltimore or waterfront district. It has great access to Baltimore's Light Rail and Metro systems. Its close to lots to the University of Baltimore, Johns Hopkins, the University of Maryland, and Baltimore International College. Its close to several museums and galleries and resturants and retailers. Parking, like in any other urban neighborhood is at a premium.

The neighborhood is relatively diverse in terms of living options. You can get anything from a pretty crappy studio to trendy 2-bedroom to an elegant single family home in Mt. Vernon. WHat I consider to be a pretty nice two bedroom apartment will run you about $1200-$1400 a month. Studios and one bedrroms can be found cheaper. My friend actually rents a 4 bedroom brownstown further away from Mt. Vernon Square for $2800 per month. Buying a house or a condo/apartment gets pretty pricey though. Units in the co-op building a few blocks away start at $1-1.5 million. The single family homes can go for more than that depending on what you're looking for.

Yes, it is too good to let die. Two of my favorite neighborhoods in the country are on this thread - The Central West End of St. Louis, and Mount Vernon of Baltimore. All the others shown are great, too.

Baltimore's Mt Vernon is a city within the city. A neighborhood with 3 colleges, major museum (Walters Art Museum), Symphony, Opera, Theater, Retail, Bars, Restaurants and many small to medium businesses and it's all in one relatively small area can't be all bad. There are probably a couple thousand historic buildings in the area too and lots of guilded-age, ruling class architectural detail make it endlessly interesting. Fine photos of Charles St.
