View Full Version : SYDNEY : ZENIX (Erskineville)
spazpecker February 6th, 2003, 12:25 PM Zenix looks topped out !
It looks like it has reached its full height but is still under heavy scaffolding. I will get some pics of it this weekend.
It is a great looking apartment tower in Erskenville in Sydney's inner west ( about 5 km from the CBD) and has a great location overlooking Sydney Park across to the airport and back to the city and eastern subs.
Render of the finished product !!

CULWULLA February 6th, 2003, 12:44 PM yeah i think it has! i go past it everyday on the train and today i noticed the tower crane extends just past its top and looks like it has reached its 17th level , some 55m high. Ive scaled it against the nearby 46m brick chimney at St Peters brickworks and looks a 10m higher!
It sure does stand out in its posy!!
Fabian February 6th, 2003, 08:00 PM Isn't Zenix twenty stories. Thats what I've heard.
It really stands out in that area as well. It's even blocking the view of World Tower from the Princes Highway up the road at St Peters.

well if you count floors in this pic there is 15. plus 2 more from court yard which is 2 floors below street level. thus-17! its probably 20 altogether with carparking!

DBM February 6th, 2003, 10:59 PM I *think* the original DA has 20 stories; Peter Funrness (a dem coucillor) had a mailout the other day complaining abuot the tower in which he said it was to be 18 stories.....
SinCity February 6th, 2003, 11:49 PM Yes, I see it too from the Western line coming into the city. From that direction it looks so dam huge! Very prominent and no doubt will attract more of them. That whole area has really transformed in such a short time.
Welcome Erskineville to the Sydney Skyscraper Club as another suburb on the "rise" ;)
CULWULLA February 7th, 2003, 04:37 AM from this model shot that Finn took last year you can count the 17 levels from courtyard level!

spazpecker February 9th, 2003, 07:40 AM I took this pic half an hour ago at Sydney Park. That's Zenix there on the left.
Great view of the city- look how dry the park's grass is !
Once again the zoom on my shitty camera hasn't done me any favours..........

Muse February 9th, 2003, 08:04 AM Certainly dominates (any news on the near Telstra site, also earmarked for something reasonable).
Will have very nice views from mid-high rise floors.
finn February 9th, 2003, 10:50 PM @ muse - this is what is being built on the Telstra site:

Only up to 8 storeys I believe, but a nice looking development!
Fabian February 10th, 2003, 05:53 AM I saw Zenix yesterday from McDonalds on the Princes Highway at St Peters and would have to agree with you Spaz. It has topped out. It's gone up pretty rapidly too.
CULWULLA February 13th, 2003, 03:23 AM view from waldorf Apts. today!

Fabian February 13th, 2003, 05:02 AM It looks so huge at St Peters towering over the park and surrounding areas. I bet the views from the top will be spectular.
spazpecker March 12th, 2003, 12:11 AM Jeeves took me up in one of my helicopters today.......... ;)

Fabian March 12th, 2003, 04:31 AM Excellent one Spaz. All the buildings appear to have topped out.
DBM March 13th, 2003, 04:29 AM Hmm: the quality of this development appears to be much higher than many around; it shoudl really up the tone in the area. Maybe I'm less worried about its local impact that I was! Have a look at
www.metroland.com.au/index.php?doc44
there is a link to the brochure there.
CULWULLA April 9th, 2003, 12:50 AM As i see it most days from the train, it has been unveiled as we speak! The green mesh is being pulled away and it looks FAB! the low rise is now visable with a nice white finish! the tower has top 3 floors visable now and looks beter than rendering! This will be a real landmark! Id love to go to roof one day to take some snaps!
SinCity April 9th, 2003, 04:12 AM Indeed, I too have been observing the strip-tease. I never thought that it would be so be prominent. Still a great addition to the burbs that will no doubt attract more of them
DBM April 9th, 2003, 07:05 AM Can anyone get a photo?
I write with an ulterior motive: I live around the corner from Zenix, but am visiting Auckland for a few weeks and am very keen to see what it now looks like!!!

spazpecker June 28th, 2003, 03:16 PM Here's a cool aerial (taken around 12-18 months ago by the look of it) showing the Zenix site right in the foreground. That's the edge of Sydney Park in front of it.

DBM June 30th, 2003, 06:09 AM Yet another new dev in the Erskienville rgeneration area near Zenix: this one is called Glo (who comes up with these names?) and there's piccies etc at www.glo.net.au. It looks OK; better than the Sydney Park Gardens stuff that's for sure. It will be, I think, next to Motto (the Allan Jack Cottier place on Eve St/Macdonald St corner)

Yeah, judging by the location, I think that Glo is already fairly well into construction. Not a bad looking building - I wonder when they are gonna start on Motto.
