View Full Version : PROJECT | Rooftop park on top of Magasin | Pro
cphdude July 31st, 2005, 10:22 AM Acording to an article in todays berlingske, the crazy architects from the danish firm PLOT (W/M huses in Ørestaden) are bringing another different idea to the market. The firm is planing a public roof-top park, on top of the department-store Magasin, in the hart of Copenhagen...
The project, called Høje Torv (the high square), is proposed at more the 3000 m2, on several diffrent levels. The "park" will have an outside cinema, cafes, everal places for relaxing and loungen, as well as the possibility of using the place for winterfun...
The project was part of a competition in 2003 by the Real Dania trust, about urban spaces. It won the competition, but the idea was never embrased by the owners, mostly because of the dire financial situation...That has now changed, as has the owners, and they are now once againg considering the idea, with but the current owners and the city architect in favor of the idea....
The price is expected to be about 4 million euros, with the cost split between the city, Magasin and Real Dania (50% financing promised)

wolkenkrabber August 1st, 2005, 01:33 AM that looks really nice, makes me think of a departmentstore i visited in cph when i was there 2002 you drove up on the roof parked and went in troug the roof, i think the building was back and it has a great view and a resturant in one corner!
Hviid August 1st, 2005, 03:11 AM Yeah this looks really nice! I'm surprised it "only" costs 4 million euro, this kind of a project looks a lot more expensive than that .. And I wonder why they decided to build a basketball court.. basketball isnt exactly big in Denmark .. I think its an awesome sport though, its about time Danes starting learning it :D
BTW. Here are some of the renderings that cphdude was talking about:

yeah its true that basketball is not that big in Denmark, though it is most popular at parks and such...Maybe that why they are doing it...Or maybe its just on the drawing? The plans in it self doesnt mention any basketball court...Maybe they just put in on there, to show what could potentialy be build...
Anyways, how did you manage to save the flash files pics? or did you just link directly to the plot website?

You're probably thinking about Fisketorvet.
Those plans looks awesome. And I'm all for a basketball court, I've played the sport since I was 7.

He took some screen shots and saved them as regular image files.
Moolio August 1st, 2005, 04:06 PM Looks awesome. It's a great idea to have a spa with great over-view of the beautiful city. They should built something a like to the recently opened Kamppi center in Hki. When was this supposed to be realised again?
cphdude August 1st, 2005, 05:03 PM ^^ i dont think anything has been decided yet, but it sounded like they were able to move fast, when they did...So i guess, in theory it could be ready for next summer...Dont think it will take that long to build, but you can never know for sure. This is a pretty old building, and we all know that once you start building on them, things can happend, that are not part of the plan...

Take a couple pictures and enjoy a diet coke... ahhhh
Why not do something like this on buildings able to surstain it in the area...?
That'll be pretty cool!
