Since there is an upswing in interest in Buffalo I thought I would revive this old thread of mine.

Buffalo, Once a powerhouse among America's urbans has been relegated to second tier status by a long period of economic stagnation. It has been forgotten among the country's more prosperous and flashy cities. The city is one of contrasts.....It is little known even though it is a busy international boarder crossing. It is little known even though its best known suburb, Niagara Falls is a major tourist desination. It is known for its Bills, its wings and its snow, but is most often mistaken to be somehow located in the metro NYC area. It is in fact on the shores of Lake Eire almost as close to Chicago as it is to NYC, stratling a line between east coast and midwest. Here I peresent a sampling of this surprising metro area of about 1.3M people and its little known and highly sophisticated collection of buildings. I hope you enjoy!

Here is some Buffalo from the web. The first two are in the Council Chamber of City Hall. Spectacular isn't it? The third one is taken form the wedding cake top of the Ni Mo Tower looking south west

I can't say ole Buff has the most active street life but it has its moments. Chippawa Street can be pretty active on weekends. Sometimes the street has to be closed because of the crowds

Amazing architecture. And that top pick is one of the best skyline pics of Buffalo I've ever seen. Buffalo certainly is, whether people realize it or not, still a big boy in American cities, I think. Love some of those houses too. They look like they're out of a Dali painting or something. One question though? Why are there people wearing Scottish kilts and playing Scottish bagpipes in what appears to be an Irish festival? OR are they waving Irish flags during a Scottish festival? I guess it could go either way.
