I am sure I heard recently that this has been deferred because of funding problems.

Still, we shall see what happens in the fullness of time.

i heard that is needed a redesign because the contractors (Shepherd again) were coming in over budget. Hope it doesn't slow it too much, the Northern Ballet website said work was due to start in August,....... I guess not!

Still, when its new design gets known, it can be put up on these boards.

Is it just my imagination or is this sort of thing happening a lot to the proposed Leeds building schemes ?

yup - building costs et al, rising steel prices, tight margins. Hmmm. apartments maybe not selling as quick as usual.

I think the apartments are selling ok, it's the price of building contracts and steel that are going up, even concrete buildings are suffering from the price hike due to the steel reinforcing bar that's used, that is about to go up £20 per Tonne.

urgh thats not good. Will this affect BWP? Im sure it will affect any proposals... It seems that a framework gets up quicker and easier than concrete cores, so for as much as possible, couldnt this be used?

My query, which perhaps I didn't make clear enough, is why do these factors seem to delay and/or modify particularly Leeds buiding proposals - or am I wrong about that ?

Long awaited good news in tonights YEP:

Plans for £22m dance centre are alive again"

Seems like its good news after all the delays the money has been secured for the revised scheme made up of 2 buildings. One would be "commercial" including restaurants, cafes, offices, hotel flats and student accomodation.

The other building would be the home of the Northern Ballet/Phoenix Dance and would include rehersal rooms/ offices, and a small auditorium.

It would be the biggest dance centre outside London.

Rushbond will now be developing the site
Looks like patience is a virtue with many projects. Trinity Quarter finally gets the go ahead, and now this. 2007 is going to be an exciting year for construction in Leeds.
