The Jerusalem municipality will begin promoting a vacate and build plan in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Romema in the next few days. The ministerial committee for urban renewal recently approved the project.
The municipality is cooperating with the Ministry of Housing and Construction and Prazot - Jerusalem Municipal Housing Co. in the project, which is located on the Hiram site. Buildings in a state of disrepair, which are unfit for habitation, will be demolished, thus freeing the site for better uses.

The nine-dunam (2.25-acre) Hiram site is bordered by Yirmiyahu St. on the south, Ahaliev St. on the north, Shamgar St. on the east, and Ganei Geula St. on the west. The site contains thirteen 1-3 storey buildings, to be replaced by four nine-storey buildings under the plan through unification and division of the site.

The plan, designed by architect Arie Kotz, envisions 180 housing units with an average of 100 sq.m. in main space, including underground parking for all the buildings. The new buildings are planned to create a large central space containing gardens and green space, in addition to space allocated for public buildings
