If it's a soccer theme park, does that mean I couldn't use my hands ?

i hope it sports oriented, anyways we've heard of to many proposed theme parks that have either been hot air or die out..so until i see them fork over millions and millions of dollars for the land i wont get my hopes up..also i hope this is somewhere in dade county and hopefully not near the everglades,.

They did say he was in talks with the mayor of Miami. How much land does a theme park take? I dont think there is much open space in Miami, maybe Virginia Key? Im guessing though it will be in the western part of the county, maybe Doral? Chuck do you remember Pirates world, that was a water theme park in Broward that closed a long time ago.

"Real president Florentino Perez sees Disneyland in Orlando as the blueprint "

"The Disney logo will be replaced by the Real one and instead of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto or Bambi, there will be Robinho, Ronaldo, David Beckham or Zinedine Zidane, according to the club."

"Just as we have soccer schools for children in South America, we are now negotiating with the mayors of Beijing and Miami about building theme parks,"

Apart from the usual rollercoasters and theme rides, the parks will also attempt to portray the club's 103-year-old history. It his hoped to have the Real Madrid Park in Beijing up and running in time for the 2008 Olympics there

This would be cool if it went through. Perfect location is taking over that ridiculous Biscayne Landing property. That's a central location for a theme park, and it will get rid of a worthless suburban development project that we don't need. Of course, that would be in a perfect world, we know it's not happening. In the early 1960s, Walt Disney himself looked at purchasing that piece of land. While enough to build a Magic Kingdom, in the end he decided he wanted more land to build a full-pledged resort, so he went to Orlando.

More logical place for this themepark would be near Metro Zoo in South Dade. Lots of development land and there are already big plans to beef up Metro Zoo with animal parks and water parks.

Yes, Rider of ROHAN :righton: Pirates World :horse: Yes :okay: , I was there when I was a teenager some 35 years ago along Sheridan Street between U.S. 1 and AIA on the north side of the road where no homes in the area at that time. :pepper:
What killed it :guns1: was the development of homes always geting closer to the theme park and the loud late night Concerts  , which I liked going too back then :runaway: , But the residents won :nono: , and closed it down because of the noise :bash: of concerts :dj: and late night traffic. :tyty:

I thought all the theme parks lived in Orlando. Miami for a soccer theme park? I'm not so sure about that one.

Actually read in the Herald today that the theme park is more for a soccer academy type of park and they are looking in the North Miami area.

A soccer academy might make sense in Miami as its Latino pop. grows, making it a prime target for Spanish Real Madrid.

The Unofficial Six Flags Atlantis® Memorial Page

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Atlantis History
Six Flags Atlantis was a water park occupying several prime acres of real estate at the intersection of I-95 and Stirling Road in Hollywood, Florida.
It was born "Atlantis, the Water Kingdom", designed and built by a local developer who ran out of funds before the park could open. For several years it remained in a state of partial completion.
Bally, the parent company of Six Flags, then purchased at least part of the park and it finally opened in (about) 1984 as "Six Flags Atlantis".
The park facilities included a seven-story slide tower, a lake with water-skiing shows, a wave pool, and dozens of other shows and activites.
Atlantis did have some inherent problems. First, it was located just a couple of miles from Dania Beach, and minutes away from the world-famous beaches in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.
Second, its operating schedule was subject to the whims of the weather. Thunderstorms, all too common during hazy South Florida afternoons, could close the park for hours. In the off-seasons, unpredictable cold fronts might reduce attendance at a fully-staffed park to a couple hundred guests, and unexpected warm days often found the closed park turning away potential customers.
Six Flags sold the park at some point around 1989, and it reopened under new management with the name "Atlantis, The Water Kingdom".
But in the end it was damage from 1992's Hurricane Andrew which closed the park's gates forever.
The functional, brightly-painted submarine that graced the park's northwest corner was moved a couple of miles down the road, to the Gran Prix Race-O-Rama. Little else remains of the park except a few memories...
...and this site.

I loved that place when I was growing up. That 7-story drop water slide would give you one hell of a wedgie but it was worth it to a stupid 12 or 13 year old like I was back then.
