mike2005 April 2nd, 2006, 11:26 PM That is not in braamfontein.
SA BOY April 3rd, 2006, 07:56 AM its to the left as you come down the frreway off ramp. I laugh when I read shit like "convert this landmark building into some of the most opulent apartments available anywhere in the world." I mean really, I am developing penthouses in the Four Seasons tower on the 69th floor that are 3 floor units of 2100M2 STARTING at $15mil, unfurnished.
Maybe the tagline should read most opulant appartments in a converted commercial tower in the CBD as Im sure that the michelagelo penthouses would shit all over these?
joburg April 3rd, 2006, 04:27 PM Maybe I'm just blind but 1 Rissik still looks pretty shut down to me. As for opulence.. I think Corner House takes that accolade. Beautiful apartments there. But still.. I have no doubt that 1 Rissik will look sexy in time to come.
thryve June 2nd, 2006, 09:45 PM ^^ Shut down? Heck NO, bru! ;)
It appears that some progress is being made... some:

#1 Rissik has been wrapped by Nedbank. With wording such as “Rise”, “Grow” and “Make Things Happen” 17 floors high greeting all commuters entering the city from the Rissik street of ramp, it is practically impossible that society is not benefiting in some psychological way. With Standard Bank signs greeting you with Inspired, Motivated and Involved, we can only see things getting better. We are still waiting on townplanning.

msv240586 June 3rd, 2006, 01:06 AM I wonder when they are planning on opening it. The south western end of the CBD is looking so cool, I took a walk down there the other day, there are the cutest little coffe shops!
joburg June 3rd, 2006, 09:06 AM WOWIE... haven't seen that cladding before! I'm SO glad something is finally being done about the building. I'll be keeping track of regular updates to the building... *yay*
mike2005 June 6th, 2006, 03:40 PM is it a sign that they are not bothering with the conversion and are just getting money from advertising hordings or is that cladding cover whilst they do work on the inside like we had with the michaelangelo tower in sandton?
joburg June 6th, 2006, 05:50 PM Well I'd venture to guess that the cladding is being used for the conversions, given the fact that the building has been dormant and that Urban Ocean hasn't been doing anything on it for a loooong time now. So surely a change like this SHOULD be for the better. If it is, then perhaps we can expect a slight exterior change as well?
I'll try go past the building sometime in the near future to see what's potting.
thryve June 7th, 2006, 01:55 AM I believe they are waiting on final project approval before renovation work goes ahead.
The ads phsychologically create a feeling of progress, and they'll keep them up when they renovate, I think.
I think it will be so classy when it's finished... :)

joburg August 20th, 2007, 07:31 PM What oh what is happening with this development??
Pule August 21st, 2007, 08:05 AM Contractors are busy with it.
Jim856796 November 18th, 2007, 12:52 AM The building actually has 20 floors. the top five floors have been turned into residential and the lower floors remained as commercial space. Also, shouldn't somebody do something about its facade? It looks boring and ugly.
Pule November 18th, 2007, 04:31 AM It is boring and ugly but I guess Urban Ocean will just renovate the inside. Kalde Coffee shop opened and closed last year there and I guess it was stupid of them opening with no residential and offices operating in the building but I'm sure they will reopen once the building is completed and people moved in.
And Thryve the location is not in Braamfontein but located just when you take Rissik street from M2 East.
Pule December 30th, 2007, 03:53 PM Can somebody tell me as to when will Urban Ocean start with work there and other projects of theirs. I hope the municipality gave them time lines as I'm sure that companies like AFHCO and City Property could have completed this long time ago.
Pule February 19th, 2008, 07:57 AM The good news is that Urban Ocean is now working on this one. Its been about 3 weeks but I forgot to report to the hounourable members of SSC ;)
Jakes1 February 19th, 2008, 09:51 AM I am glad they are starting on this one. Just noted a mistake on the original thread. This is not in braamies, as we all know. But in Marshalltown
Lydon February 19th, 2008, 08:01 PM Mike mentioned that in the 3rd post :)
Jakes1 February 20th, 2008, 11:06 AM Well, that's what I get for trying to be a know-it-all! hehe
Mike mentioned that in the 3rd post :)
