*yay* Something mildly exciting in Joburg. This development is situated on Greenside Circle, which is one of the trendiest restaurant spots in Joburg. Hopefully this development will signal the start of some "new urbanism" for Joburg.

There's a cutie- and I really like the space for a restaurant or store or w/e @ the bottom floor.

its a goodlooking design, and hopefully not invasive on the surrounding area.

What is the surroundings like? 1 storey? 2? and behind it, houses?

I like it too, and a great location...........maybe Greenside will get even trendier.

Greenside is a suburb full of old trees and even older houses. A very pretty area. Greenside Circle I would say is about 1/2 floors. Most of the ground floor stuff are restaurants/hair salons/design stores, and the above floors are small offices. I'd actually say that Greenside Circle is the most exclusive high street area of Joburg... restaurants are nice, but quite expensive.

so will it intrude on the privacy of the homes behind it, off the main strip? that would be a pity if it is out of character of the area. but i like it

Nah not really... It's actually of perfect height for the area. Many houses are double story or are surrounded by very tall trees (hence the name Greenside heehee). If anything, it will greatly increase the value of the surrounding area. I like it too. :)

Nope it's basically a strip of buildings centred around a circle. Other buildings adjoin it. Not sure how much per m2, just that they'll be going for between R400k and R2.6mil.

has this one finished yet? it is such a nice small concept, perfect for densifying the area, without altering the atmosphere

The last time I went past it they were still very busy on the facade, but that was over a month ago. When I next go to Greenside, I'll have a look.

And hsark, it's basically a block of flats that overlooks Greenside Circle, which has quite a bit of greenery growing out of it. And a tree. I think.

But that should put in a fountain. That would look pret.
