LOST

well the popular series LOST starts on C4 today.. so here is my GTC version of the popular television series

Please make intelliegent guesses. Inorder to make it a detecting type of GTC I am allowing NO country guesses or continent guesses. Take out your map plot and give the answer please. All the images are clues....

..and the passengers are lost in the middle of nowhere..



they wander the barren land and are glad to come across some water..



they think that if there is water there must be a village nearby.. they trek the waterside for a few miles.. and BINGO !!



the villagers help the lost passengers by imediately calling SSC and asking the GTC forumers to locate them and take them home..



so who is up for the task ? where are the lost passengers.. what town are they holed up in ??

The vegetation looks like the Savanne. So no Northern Afica.
The river is clear and thin, so the source must be near. Hilly or mountanious country.
I see some sand, some maybe an area that is threatned by the desert.
There is a boat that looks like a ferry, so a big city or sea should be near.

My country possibilities: Burkina Faso Mali, Nigeria, Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenia, Guinnee, Kongo, Angola, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana.

Mali- bit hilly, no source of a river at least not one with this water, savanne-not possible
Nigeria-source of a river, hilly, savanne: possible
Chad-bit hilly, no source of a river at least not one with this water, savanne: not possible
Sudan- source of a river, hilly, savanne, desert near: possible
Ethiopia-source of a river, mountanious, savanne, desert near: very possible
Somalia- no source of a river, hilly, savanne, desert near: not very possible Kenya-Mountanious, savanna, source of a river, not very close to a real desert but it is dry: very possible

it is not a capital or such a big city. But if you read the clues you can figure out where the plane crashed/ at what time.. then if you match it with the flora and landscape, water body.. there are not too many options ;)

clue : pay particular attention to time ;) this is a detecting GTC.. we need Sherlock kinda brain :D

It's for sure somewhere in the Sahel... on the upper part of a river, flat land - I go for Mali, Segou? Mopti?

It is Kenya, Sudan or Ethiopia for sure.
I thought that the flight table had something to do with it but I just didn't post it :doh:.

So it's a flight to South Africa (SA must be South Africa Airlines or the like). The flight EK 761 is related with Johanisburgh. So I think my Kruger National Park guess was not that far away :)

That's absolutly not true! I was checking all the possible flights on the timetable - and they are ALL connected to Jo'burgh, sorry, what do you think?? :lol:

The possible countries at the moment.
Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.

Ethiopia and Sudan are not that touristic... Kenya is quite dry but there are more humid savanna areas as well. Maybe Amboseli National Park?

Think we'll have to try it in Kenya. I remembered there was electricity in the villlage and road and ferry connection. That means it is propably near something that is important for the country-like a park.

Or Marsabit?

was it flying to Jo'burg or from Jo'burg ?.. it is time to think ;)

Also consider the time and flightpath.. flights dont get lost too far from their flight paths do they ;) ?

It was actually flying London-Jo'burgh, so it's in mid-western Africa? Different kinds of Savannas... Nigeria?

so..

1. It is very near London- Jo'burg flight path

2. on a river closer to the source so not close to ocean

3. platteauish landscape with flora threatened by desert

4. Why not try figure out when the plane crashed ? You can figure that from the flight time and the pics which suggests roughly when the flight might have crashed.. so could determine how far it is from London and Jo'burg ?
