We know by then that projects like Bridgewater Place will be completed. But what about the others. Will the likes of Criterion Place, Venture Tower, City One, Monkbridge Forge, the Harewood/Eastgate Developments, Trinity Quarter Development, and the Arena be completed or at least under construction by then? What other potential developments will we see, and will Leeds be lucky enough (and I mean lucky) to get the Supertram under construction. Personally I think every project that is under construction or projected today except the near dead duck Supertram will be finished or at least under construction five years from now.

I have no idea about anything else but you are not going to be seeing tram construction in Leeds before 2020 let alone 2010.

A lot can happen in 15, sorry 14 years!

Yep, but trams in this country take around 30 years from idea to fare paying passenger.

You are not even at idea stage yet in Leeds.

I'll repeat what I've said before, I am 30 at the moment, I'll have my pensioners bus pass before trams roam the streets of Leeds.

Since the public at large in the UK don't care about public transport I really cannot see this changing.

I think this is a discussion going nowhere. ps60 started this thread, along with his comments on Supertram, before the news of the project's demise. In any case, he was sceptical about it ever happening.

Personally, I'd be interested to hear your views on what might replace the embarrassment that was Supertram. Will the government be keen to pull the rabbit out of the hat with some new public transport scheme to address the problems that Supertram was meant to alleviate?

Sorry, I didn't notice the dates, I only responded after Smartcity bought it back to the top, I thought the initial post was more recent than last August - apologies for not reading propoerly.

In respect of what will replace Supertram, see Cambridge, basically Super / Guided /tramlike buses. i.e. buses with knobs on, that will promise much but deliver very little.

If you take a gander at the Liverpool trams threads (there are two) you'll see some of my posts discussing the benifits of trams and how the government has shit on cities like Liverpool, Leeds and Portsmouth.

Magicrealist, i've pinched your banner hope you don't mind. Make the odd touch-up here and there and then you get something like this...

Sexilicious.

But no-one really knows what it will look like... so yeah heh. For a good panoramic view try Potternewton Lane (Scott Hall Road) near the superbusway start, then go across onto the field. Kinda makes it look a bit like Birmingham which is rather weird, looks like the bit on brum at the beginning where brum drives into the 'big city'. Anyway... nice banner.

Maybe Mayfair too, if a buyer is found.

Don't forget Venture! Remember it came around last year that it was further ahead than we thought, ypn listing a starting date for summer 2006 possibly, which I highly doubt but the point being that its quite advanced so could we be underway by 2010. That image also shows the site of Clarence House (definetley up by 2010) and The Gateway Tower!

On the note of Mayfair too, I'm surpised its so problemed- probably will be a similar story to BWP. It's such a prime site and that area has everything going for it, its development is inevitable, just maybe not by 2010. But I think its likely. Alot can happen in 4 years!

I have to admitt, I nabbed it straight off the BP website.

I print screened each section of the image, then stitched the whole image back together with some photo editing software.
