As we all know, most Greek Churches are in the Byzantine style (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byzantine_style).

The colour inside and out of these buildings so fascinates me. I've seen Catholic Churches for example, and none that I have were as colourful.

The church of Ressurection (Ekklisia Anastaseos) is located on a hill in Ermoupoli at the island of Syros.
From there, when the weather is good, you can see the islands of Tinos and Myconos.

If it's anything like it is here in the USA:

Churches built before 1940 are beautiful. They're either neoclassical (most common), or they're Byzantine Revival (sometimes with subtle elements of other styles like Gothic), or a hybrid of Byzantine and Neoclassical.

Churches built after 1940 are butt-ugly. They're usually some ugly modern interpretation of Byzantine, with exaggerated features.

And it's not just Greek Orthodox churches. Same goes for other denominations as well: Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist...older churches are gorgeous. Newer churches are butt-ugly.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a better picture of this church. This is the Greek Orthodox cathedral in Chicago. It's small for a cathedral, but a very good-looking building, and looks like the churches you'll see in Greece that were built in the 19th century and early 20th. The exposed brick is a common architectural feature for buildings across Chicago, regardless of architectural style. This church is an exposed-brick building with heavy neoclassical elements, which is a pretty common style for Chicago buildings; even for newer residences in the greater city center. This church fits well into the city. Beautiful church.

EDIT:

This is St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. To the left of the church is the newly built church hall where they hold receptions and various functions, etc. It is in a very nice area of town (prime location) off of the main highway. Also, all of the land and buildings are owned by the church. The annual Greek festival is held on the premises out doors and is very successful, it does very well each year (it's held in September if I'm not mistaken and lasts about 4 days). I think it looks nice (the entire roof/dome is a dark copper color).

Time to revive this thread,with a nice little church i recently found out about...

The church of Metamorfosi tou Sotirios in the village of Vilia in West Attica.It's the creation of Ernst Ziller,famous for many beautiful structures in Greece:

Pobably one of Ziller's most uknown designs. Personally, I have never heard of it before.
It's a beautiful structure. Clearly Byzantine style, but some details give me the impression, there are slight North European influences.
