Louisville passed a ban aimed mainly at restaurants that have less than 25% of their sales from alcohol. It also bans smoking in MOST businesses, but there are various loopholes. And you can still smoke in bars. Here is the article:

What is your city's ban, if any?

Boston has banned smoking in bar's and pubs though I wish they would ban smoking in public area like parks and trolley stations.

Smoking in bars, restaurants, and any establishment that serves food has been banned in Minneapolis (Hennepin County) and Saint Paul (Ramsey County), and a metro-wide or even statewide ban is being considered.

Oh...my...God...don't you hate it when you're in, say, a bus shelter and it's raining or snowing outside and some jerk lights up a cigarette and you have nowhere to go and are forced to inhale the acrid fumes!
I also hate my clothes reeking of smoke every time I go into a bar (smoking ban cities excluded). However, the libertarian in me wants to let bar-owners decide for themselves whether to allow smoking, even if few of them would voluntarily ban it. I think (or at least hope) that a grass roots movement to get bar-/restaurant-owners to ban smokes might succeed by convincing them that the rising tide of the masses prefers smoke-free bars. Has business really suffered so badly, long-term, in NYC, Boston, California, MSP, etc.? I'd think (or hope!) that the loss of grumpy smokers can be offset by the increase in non-smokers attending bars & restaurants.
