The Chattarpur temple complex is one of the newer additions to Delhi's architectural landscape. These temples were constructed about 15 years ago. What makes this temple complex interesting is its scale, and also the interesting mix of temple architecture from around India. There are several distinct styles of temple architecture in India -
a. the Dravidian style prevalent in South India, characterized by tall entrance towers and a profusion of stone sculptures
b. the unique architecture of the temples of Kerala, with their sloping red-tiled roofs
c. the Oriya style - common in the state of Orissa - characterized by tall spires
d. the Terracota style of Bengal - made of terracota
e. Varanasi style - characterized by stone spires topped by metallic cupolas
f. Western Indian style - common in Rajasthan and Gujarat - these involve intricate carvings in marble
g. Kashmiri style - pagoda style structures usually made of wood

This is by no means an exhaustive listing of the various styles of temple architecture in India. But the Chattarpur temple complex in Delhi allows a visitor to experience many of these diverse styles in one place. It is being added to even now and will display an even wider diversity of styles in the years to come.

This temple's tower is inspired by the 1000 year old Brihadiswara Temple in Tanjavur, Tamil Nadu

This tower is in the North Indian style, with certain features akin to the temples of Varanasi.

Another style of architecture visible here - somewhat like that in the Nath Dwara temple near Udaipur in Rajasthan.

Oh, I see. It is not in the standard 0.5 increments, 3 to 10 rating format. Sorry - am new to this part of the forum. I could recreate the poll if that is necessary.
