View Full Version : SYDNEY: Proximity (Wooli Creek)
CULWULLA February 10th, 2003, 02:33 PM The two tower PROXIMITY residential development is well under way in Sydney's south at Wooli Creek (8kms south of CBD).
The modern complex will dominate the surrounding areas and is close proximity (2km) from the airport.
The two towers will rise 14storeys (45m) & 20storeys (61m).
the piling has been going on for a few months now and concrete foundations & core are about to commence.
here are some renders

just across from Proximity (on other side of train track) is the large Meriton complex with units ranging from 3-11 storeys.
Fabian February 10th, 2003, 09:31 PM I saw the crane on Sunday, but I forgot about it! It's good news to see the crane, a sign that it is about to rise.
fro February 11th, 2003, 12:05 AM Hey, is that the Wolli Creek train station car park? Pretty close!
Good too see some rather attractive residential developments outside the CBD for once!

finn March 12th, 2003, 12:31 PM Just a quick update on this project, which is advancing quite quickly!
Another crane is now on site, of similar height to the one shown in the previously posted photographs. When I went by on the train today the site looked like it was full of people in bright orange vests, swarming over the construction.
The core for the main tower looks to be about three storeys high, and the ground floor slab is being poured, on top of the underground car parking.
aussieinsoho March 12th, 2003, 12:36 PM Does anybody else think that the second rendering looks similar to tower two at Mirvacs melbourne docklands. Is it the same architect?

i take them in the vestibule area! if its too crowded il take it from my seat which is up top!
you gotta be bloody quick!
Fabian March 14th, 2003, 07:00 AM I take them from my window seat which is always on the top deck. I try and make sure there are no obtrusions when taking the photos, especially in the older carriages.
However last time, I had to sit on the aisle and produced the shoddy photo. The lift core looked more like a billboard!
CULWULLA March 27th, 2003, 11:57 AM This project is progressing probably the fastest out of all the towers uc in Sydney! The core is now up to 6 and the first slabs are being layed!!

Actually, these apartments under construction at Wolli Creek are still a fair way from Sydney CBD - I mean not far-far but still a bit of a distance, about 10/11km.
Here's a projected future view from the apartments in the towers, showing the CBD in the distance:
http://www.proximityliving.com/images/home/home_image.jpg
Fabian March 30th, 2003, 10:32 PM It's doesn't take that long to drive either, no more than twenty minutes it takes.
I like that view. It will be the most spectular of any development in the area.
CULWULLA April 7th, 2003, 01:15 PM taken today. the floor plates are progressing well!

Yeah I agree. I go past it everyday and I'm amazed at the speed it's getting built.
Fabian April 12th, 2003, 12:43 PM On the train today, I noticed the mesh had been removed.
Also a third lift core has appeared on the site on the southern side.
CULWULLA April 12th, 2003, 02:10 PM i contacted Bates smart through the week to get exact heights of the two towers. I was pretty close. i estimated 61m & 46m. The tallest will be 66m & shorter 49m. (which is same height as Meritons massive 20storey Park Plaza at Hurstville)
Proximity will be awesome on completion and stand out for miles around! they will make the nearby Meriton complex seem tiny.

So does that mean that Proximity @ Wolli Creek and Park Plaza @ Hurstville will be the equal tallest buildings in St.George?
Are any of the buildings on the Meriton site going to be any higher than those that are already built? Do you know any of the heights for the Interciti development which Australand will be building?
Questions questions questions! ;)

CULWULLA May 24th, 2003, 03:40 AM same as 2 weeks ago! tall one is level9. Fabian, you will find with most construction sites. not much has progressed since the rains we had 2 weeks ago! they will commence construction with most this week.

prepare to be disappointed!lol you have to be patient with highrise construction. sometimes bldgs take years to build. its a slow process indeed. it can be made longer by bad weather and other setbacks.
Fabian May 31st, 2003, 01:39 AM As of yesterday, The fifth level has been poured in the main tower and the first level in the second tower.
finn June 4th, 2003, 03:45 PM Just thought I'd mention a few observations I made today on zooming through Wolli Creek on the train:
1) Construction of the walls on the eight level of the main Proximity tower has begun - so i guess the core is at around 10 or 11 levels.
2) Engineers were taking bore hole soil samples on the Australand site. The local paper also mentioned that full construction on this site will begin before years end, and eventually include 16,000 sq.m of retail space, 50,000 sq.m of office space, and 1100 apartments.
3) What appears to be a pile-driving machine was visible in the distance at the International Airport, which would indicate construction of the 11 storey office building on that site is beginning.
