Located about 2 hours north of Athens, Mount Parnassos is Greece's second highest mountain after Mount Olympus. It is home to countless villages, Delphi, and ski towns.

Nice views!!! Now, tell me one thing: what made you bring snow to the thread? Don't you think we should be looking at beaches and nude babes?

Haha! You are right! You actually gave me a good idea! Maybe that will be my next project: Nude babes of the Greek beaches!!! I bet you that will get a lot of hits, eh? :)

However, the reason I posted the Parnassos pics is because every time I go to visit my grandparents there, the mountain always amazes me. It looks like I have temporarily stepped into a Swiss valley or Banff (Rocky Mountains) in Alberta, Canada. Believe it or not, the summit of the mountain and some other peaks still had some snow on them when I was there in July even though the temperature on the ground was pushing close to 100 F degrees!

Anyway, take care!

On to my next project! :runaway:

Great pictures but I goota make you a little correction, despite Parnassos is a very high and impresive mountain, actually it is not the second highest mountain in Greece, it doesn't even gets the 10th position!!!

The second highest mountain is in Epirus and its name is Smolikas, and is located some 500 kms from Athens.

I stand corrected my friend. But Parnassos is not as low as 10th as you say :)

I always was told by the locals that Parnassos was the 2nd highest! Shows you how much they know! They are probably being biased! Whatever the height, it is very large.

Thanks for the correction!

Here is a list of the highest mountains in Greece:

Hi there's an error in that list maybe it happened while the designer typed it.

Olympos Oros is not 2,904 mts. There are different stated heights but never seen that one.

The most popular is the 2,919 coming second the 2,925 one. As for the 90's it was used to show in the GNTO maps the 2,917 metres one. There are also less common versions which show a height as high as 2,985 metres.

Anyway it depends on the climber's data. It's impossible that all of them will register the same altitude when reaching the summit.

I have to check out in my earth globe DEM data how many it shows, but I would bet it's the 2,925 or even the 2,985 one; I gotta check it out.

Finally usually the Leyka Ori of Crete appear in the maps to have 2,456 metres.

Whatever it's 7th, 8th, or 10th it doesn't matters it isn't for sure the second one; thus we can see how urban myths (or in this case villages myth) can deliver such confussions to our minds to the point that we believe them and no one can convince us of their fake nature.

Nice pictures though, the place is great and I love it, I hope someday a world class ski centre be built in there to show the world that ours are among the best mountain on earth, specially for those kinda sports.
