The renderings is poor, but i hope to upload new ones as soon as possible.
NorthStar77 August 17th, 2005, 11:58 PM I dunno, "Pont du point" and "Kom over og se" looks very much like other bridges made these days, but I think those will be most popular among ordinary people. "Zigzag" is hopeless; whoever came up with the idea of making a pedestrian bridge twice as long as necessary? I would go bananas if I had to walk it every day. The other ones are okay I guess.
ShuMi August 18th, 2005, 12:27 AM Suspended animation :okay:
Other one`s look like ordinary bridges these days :(
Þróndeimr August 18th, 2005, 12:37 AM Ypsilon, Pont du point and Kom over og se is nice bridges and most popular among the local population. Zigzag is awesome, at least as a tourist or a sunday walk bridge, however to ppl who need to go across the bridge in a hurry everyday that bridge is hopeless. McDonals will probably make a lot of compercials from that bridge, and make it even more famous!
But my vote goes to Zigzak afterall, the idea is great, though the location for such a bridge is completly wrong.

I still wouldn't call it a great idea, even though I agree with the rest of what you say. There's a good reason why such bridge designs as Zigzag are highly rare. Its practicality is close to zero, a true epitome of funky design going ahead feasibility. Whoever designed that should be shot and run over by a pickup truck. Twice. Bridges exist for a reason: to help people get across a body of water quickly and effortlessly.
Pont du point is an elegant design, I like it.

My words, exactly! :okay: How stupid is it to be forced to walk about 1.5 times as far as you have to just to get to the other side... :ohno:
I also like Pont du point, though it's not very original.
Hviid August 18th, 2005, 06:06 PM Suspended Animation and Zigzag are my 2 favorites ... the others are just simple/plain/boring ..
ch1le August 18th, 2005, 06:17 PM i like DUO! :) ZigZag is horrrrrible
Jarmo K August 19th, 2005, 01:12 PM i'd rather swim than cross the zigzag. i'm a horrible swimmer but would get to the other side a lot faster :D
(pont du point)

Indexi August 23rd, 2005, 11:32 PM Ypsilon lookes great :okay:
Whose Homepage August 24th, 2005, 12:52 AM Ah, thanks for that important piece of information, Christian! :)
Looking at the poll results, I note that none of us voted for the winner. ;)
kjetilab August 24th, 2005, 06:40 PM That might have something to do with the render. Ypsilon is split in two at the tower, with a little platform with seating underneath. On the pitcture presented in Drammens Tidende today the bridge look really nice.
I'll try to take some pics during the construction to keep you all updated.
Þróndeimr August 24th, 2005, 07:49 PM The bridge looks good, a better choise than Pont du point and Kom over og se which gets to massive.
A model of the winning design, Ypsilon:

Yeah, the proposal deserves some votes actually, at least in my opinion. Too late now though. ;)
Whose Homepage August 24th, 2005, 09:36 PM You're right, kjetilab: from the picture Christian posted above, essential parts and features of Ypsilon are not well visible (not Christian's fault, of course). So thank you, Christian, for posting the new one! :okay:
It's actually a very clever design that gives pedestrians a the possibility to choose one arm or the other of the Y, depending on where they're coming from in one direction, and on their destination when going in the other direction..
And kjetilab, you lucky fellow, the bridge will be built in your home town! Yes, it would be great if you were to give us construction photos once the bridge is u/c! :)
MANTAZ, could you please close this poll?
