Yup, another Plaque, on the Seige of Detroit, in 1763 when the Ottawa Indians and British fought for Detroit. I wonder if that is how Ottawa, Ontario got its name...

You're making me miss my hometown even more, Jay. All your pictures are showing places that are so familiar to me, I must've driven along that stretch of Riverside Drive 500 times in my life (did it every single day for 4 years while studying at the U of W).

It would certainly be a very nice and interesting route to take... looking at any pictures of Windsor (or Detroit) makes me miss going down there once in a while, although I do get there once quite often, so I shouldn't miss it too much... :)

Great photos. Be interesting to see photos of the area around University of Windsor. Don't see many pictures of that part of town. Even the university website has very little. Windsor has a beautiful waterfront from what I've seen though. Its a shame most people can't think beyond the auto town image. Windsor doesn't get the credit it deserves.

Thanks for the acknowledgement of my photo taking, Steeltown. I must be getting better @ this. Not only that, but my camera is improved (over digital), lol.

Depending on what area of the city you're in, when you go inland, it may or may not be too bad, but Windsor has its unique areas which gives the city quite the character. :)

Tri-City Guy, you know what, I didn't get a chance to do the University that time around, but the next time, I will do my best to get the University. However, I did get angles of the Ambassador Bridge.

You want "downhill", look across the river. It's not like there are any neighbourhoods in Windsor full of abandoned homes. As for the area around the University, well, it's showing its age. Big deal.

Walkerville is personally my favourite area of Windsor...I grew up there for a time.
There's a lot I haven't seen yet in that area, I'm too used to the common things.

I absolutly LOVE the Walkerville town homes situated closer to Wyandotte. They are fantastic.

BTW, this is another Windsor question here, I know they are rebuilding/renovating the walkway on the waterfront and stuff, but are they doing it near Dieppe Gardens as well? Because the last time I was in Windsor, this plaque:

about the Great Western Railway was GONE. Maybe they just temporarily removed it. It's not like anyone to remove an important piece of Ontario's history. Sorry, I am beginning to love all these plaques about Ontario's history! :) Does anybody (Oaronuviss) know what happened to it?

Jay, they've been rebuilding the shoreline area in that part of the riverfront. If the sign is gone, it's probably just temporarily.

Did you go around on your bike to get these shots?

^ nope, I was in Windsor with my dad and grandpa and I walked to get these shots.

Yeah it's only temporary Jay, I hear they're even moving the 'Spirit of Windsor' (the black locomotive) down river I believe. That whole section is pretty tore up at the moment, but that plaque will go back as soon as they're done.

My family owns Moir Crane (est. 1890) it's one of the oldest companies in Essex County (if not the oldest family owned business?) they helped put that locomotive there long ago.
