logybogy August 22nd, 2005, 08:11 AM In looking at Downtown in Google Earth, I was amazed at how many surface parking lots and crappy little structures there are.
I'm wondering what will happen to the lots directly west of the row of condos from Marquis to the Freedom Tower.
As it is right now, there will be a row of gorgeous million dollar condos right next to crap.......
I have highlighted the crap in blue.
What will be built there? There won't be many water views unless they build really high.....>800feet and the FAA probably won't go for that.
So are we looking at mixed-use cause of no water views? High-density commerical, office, retail, maybe some condos?

Dale August 22nd, 2005, 08:17 AM It'll be no different than NYC or Chicago. Not everyone will have prime sightlines to the water. That's life in the big city.
The Mad Hatter!! August 22nd, 2005, 11:11 PM some affordable housing would be nice but wont happen, also a nice pedestrian friendly village thing,of cousre it won't happen.
i believe the owners of some of these lots include hank sopher, boymelgreen, and royal palm.they'll mostly be used for parking for the triple a now since the old parking lots are where the projects are being built.later in the future i believe they'll be sold or developed.
MIAballinboi August 23rd, 2005, 03:52 AM well atleast we have some crappy buildings and parking lots to knock down to build scrapers, cant wait til that happens and we start expanding the skyline from east- to west,
Roark August 26th, 2005, 03:52 AM Oh Hatter....Pessimistic, but at least you aren't well informed....our youth today are so cute...
also a nice pedestrian friendly village thing,of cousre it won't happen. In fact, the pedestrian Promenade one half block south of the 11th street (the 24 hour entertainment district) was dedicated a few weeks ago...."probably not going to happen" because it already did. :)
