At Least 40 Said Hurt in Mexico Bull Run Mon Aug 22, 1:18 PM ET



Agitated animals, excessive drinking and street fights left at least 40 people injured during the annual running of the bulls in the small central state of Tlaxcala, Mexican news media reported Monday.

Hundreds of would-be bullfighters crowded the streets of the city of Huamantla to participate in Sunday's event, which authorities said drew more than 100,000 spectators from Mexico and foreign countries.

The angry bulls ran through the streets for more than two hours, goring numerous participants, the Tlaxcala newspaper El Sol reported Monday.

Injuries also resulted from several street fights that erupted among observers and participants, many of whom had been drinking throughout the day, the newspaper said. At least nine were injured seriously, hospital officials told the paper.

A lack of sufficient public security contributed to the number of injuries, the report said.

Scenes from the event were shown on national television and reported on radio stations and by the government news agency, Notimex.

Yo igual, de hecho alguna vez me quisieron invitar a una corrida de toros y obviamente no acepte, no se porque en México se enraizó esta tradicion tan patética. Ojala los pudieran prohibir.

pues que bueno que se los madren!!!!los toros solo se defienden!!!!,nadie obliga ala gente a estar ahi,pero bueno cada quien sabe adonde va y a que le entra no.
Por cierto,no me gustan ese tipo de espectaculos.
