Has anyone heard any news on the Parkside Village community proposal for the city of Mississauga?

This is a massive project which if completed will include upwards of 30 buildings being constructed in the burnhamthorpe rd. and Confederation pkwy area. The three tallest resedential towers are slated to be 50, 45 and 45 stories each. The official plan calls for curb appeal and pedestrian friendly areas, storefronts several low to mid rise towers as well and even a hotel or possibly a condo/hotel property which mayor Hazel McCallion is hoping will be built. Its been some time since i've heard anything regarding this project by Vancouver developers AMACON. They were hoping to release the first phase this summer of 2005.

If anyone has any news, renderings about this massive project which would dramatically transform my city could you please post the info/pics here.

Thanks in advance guys!!!! :)

I remember reading an article about it in the Mississauga News back in mid-March. The interesting thing is the fact that the series of highrises, low-rises and townhouses that are proposed would house upwards of 12,000 people which I found to be quite high density.

I actually haven't heard anything since about it and the AMACON website doesn't mention anything about it either, but I wonder if their waiting to sell-out of their current projects in Mississauga before advertising this one.

Yup, I've heard of them:D. They should be next to the Capital Towers; the area between Capital and the houses. I have seen that some of the curbs have been cut off, and according to someone on this post, it is the future entrance to the sales office.

This is a large project, but isn't the location a little removed from the Cooksville GO station? Seems like it may be better served if its closer to a major transit centre.

Maybe it would be good to have enhanced bus service to the GO lines, Square One, etc.

It is a pretty far from the GO Cooksville station actually, but the City Centre Transit Terminal at Square One is by far the busiest in Toronto's suburbs (even if it is only buses), so it is still a suitable location.

^ I personally doubt we'll hear anything about it for at least a year or two but at the same time, it looks like they're building the Sales Centre on the site so what do I know?

My doubts are more because it seems sales at Eve/Eden have been somewhat slow, especially when they're still taking out two page spreads for Eden even though it's almost done. Eve has yet to break ground from what I know, and I heard rumours before that there was a third tower to be built on the site (My guess is Adam or Apple or Snake) and those sales will take a while too if they're anything like the first two.

Hopefully Amacon is going to make the buidlings a little more exciting, especially considering that Fernbrook pushed the bar up. I have serious doubts though that this entire thing will get built before the market takes a dip (likely 2012-2015) so hopefully they'll build the eastern/southern sections first leaving the north/west open for the next boom. Again, I could be entirely wrong about everything but I just don't see Mississauga staying afloat with the flood of condos all over Mississauga.

there is a third phase for the eden park/eve site. if you go to the construction site you can see the map showing 3 buildings. but who wants to live beside wally's? i wouldn't want to. it's really sketchy.

^ Wally's itself will probably be replaced by a condo tower one day.

well Wally's Restaurant is probably gonna be the only reason why I go to that intersection. What else is there. What they should do is offer Wally a chance to sell the land to the developer and maybe set a clause in the contract saying that wally's will have a guaranteed unit at the bottom of the future condo. I think it would be a win-win for both parties...and wally's might actually make a lot of money as well...and the future developer (maybe AMACON) will get the good location

naw, what they could do is build a nicer restaurant that actually makes you want to step foot on their property. and having some edible food would be great too!
