Well, that's a way of life for call center agents. I'm still hopeful that Miag-ao or Diliman would call me up sometime soon. I'm crossing my fingers still.

of course. No problem.

Went to Gaisano City Lapaz last Sunday since 2 years ago, this is the first time nakabalik ako didto...

observations ko:

1. ang grocery nila naka ceramic tiles na, improved lighting, wide aisles etc., mas organized na biskan daw mas damo na ila baligya and may "imported" section na sila.
For loyal customers of Monterey, ari pa di gihapon ila meat stall sa sulod.

2. gone are the escalators going down sa side sg textile section nila and replaced it with MMDA footbridge-like steel staircase, I just hope wala naman ma-reklamo nga mga nakapalda nga girls nga mabosohan hehe. I wonder kung diin nga branch nga mapalaron ang nakareceive kag ginpang transplant ang mga donor escalators sg Gaisano lapaz hehe.

3. closed na ang bowling lane nila sa babaw, same with the foodcourt. lights off na on those areas. mga videokehan na lang gid ang magahod sa amusement arcades, haven't checked their cinemas if ga-operate pa. the place looks pathetic.

4. ang mga cellshops sa tunga sa ground floor are almost gone but may ara pa gid nabilin.

5. lastly, sh*t KAINIIIIIIIT gid ya...... just a few minutes lang kami galibot-libot sa department store nila, gapaligo na ko balhas. ginapatay ayhan nila ang aircon to conserve energy or guba gid ya ang mga aircon?

-----------------

seeing all the work in progress sang renovations sa gaisano, gaan ko lang anay time ang gaisano ah.... it is slowly reinventing itself man eh

This might help you.

From this site : http://iloilocityboy.blogspot.com/2006/06/before-boracay-there-was-sicogon.html

.....to get to Sicogon, one can either take public transportation from Iloilo City or rent a van for the 3-hour drive to Carles. Upon arriving in Carles town, one can hire a banca (motorized outrigger canoe) to bring you to Sicogon island. If you are coming from Manila, you can also take the Roxas City route because Carles is more or less equidistant to both Iloilo and Roxas City. All in all, getting to Sicogon would take up half a day and an overnight stay there is bitin. One has to stay at least two days to really explore and enjoy the island. The downside (or the upside depending on what you want) is that facilities at Sicogon are not exactly world-class and tourists must “rough it up” a little. Cottages are just simple nipa hut affairs and there is no plumbing. Sicogon would appeal more to adventurous tourists, backpackers and nature-lovers than city-slickers accustomed to the comforts and amenities of home.

Guys,
I advise you to try "AMERICAN BURGER" (although I'm not sure of the name) sa Jalandoni Street, Jaro.
The size of their burger is just a bit smaller than Perri Tods but the flavor and taste is better. They've got different kinds of burgers like Mexican, American and Swedish....
They also have pasta...its a must try.

If you've never been to "Kuweba," you've never been to Quezon Street.

Kuweba was at one end of Quezon St., facing Ledesma while Payless plaza is at the other end of Quezon St., dira na sya lapit sa kanto gid sang Gen. Luna pagliko gid sa Quezon St., basta gatubang gid sa Lolita Bldg nga ara sa kanto, the one that has Medicus, Mercury Drug and BPI branch.

Subong daw wala na ang Kuweba Disco, daw Barbershop na dira subong sg nalabayan ko nagligad.

Let us be broad minded nalang ah.. Let's face it and put it this way.. If we are being criticized by others, meaning, concerned lang na sila.. If the more we are being criticized, then the more we should be challenge to improve something we do not have.. Simple as that..:):) So, next time around, kon sino nga politiko kita nyo damo iya contribution sa improvement sa syodad, then maybe, amo na ina sya..

P.S. "Pila" lang bala nga term ah.. kay daw ka rude man na ang "dupla" nga term..

"This I have to say... Just because a few of our previous threads don't have much pictures of any new and ongoing developments in the city, it doesn't mean we don't have anything or we're lagging behind."

- I sooooo agree with this....This is exactly what I feel.

re: COA List (Income of Cities)

*among the top 20 cities, Iloil oranked 19th and 5th (outside metro manila) come to think of it, .... where it all came from?

- taken for granted na nga nag mga metro manila cities have the businesses, industries, services and population that could earn for them
- cebu and davao are aside from tourist cities they are "big" cities
- baguio and puerto princesa are tourist cities

Iloilo IT Week to highlight ICT jobs, biz prospects

The 4th Iloilo Information Technology (IT) Week on September 28-30 will highlight jobs and business prospects in the field of booming Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry.

This year’s theme, “Facing Global Challenges through I.T.,” focuses on the opportunities for employment and economic advancement brought about by the ICT sector. The three-day event will feature exhibits, lectures, competitions and jobs fair.

The Iloilo Federation for Information Technology (IFIT) in cooperation with the city and provincial governments and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-Iloilo) will spearhead the IT Week activities at Robinsons Place here.

The Iloilo IT Week is an annual event that brings together schools, business and government to celebrate the development of the ICT industry.

IFIT is a non-stock and not-for-profit organization founded in 2006 to develop the ICT sector in Iloilo through an active collaboration of the triumvirate of academe-government-industry. It seeks to help transform Iloilo into an ICT investment destination and major ICT and IT-enabled services (ITES) hub through proactive intervention in human resource development.

Dr. Adrian Arcelo, head of IFIT research team will present in the afternoon of September 28 the result of the Iloilo ICT Human Resource Survey conducted by IFIT and funded by the provincial government and DTI-Iloilo.

Dr. Gregg Gabison of Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (CEDF-IT) will also present the Philippine Information Technology General Certification Exam (Phil-IT GCE). It is the first certification exam for IT graduates adopted by IFIT to ensure that they master IT upon graduation. It also serves as a benchmarking tool for schools to determine areas of improvement in their ICT curriculum.

Meanwhile, ICT lectures include:

* “Taking Your Business Online” in the morning of September 29 by Mr. Ramon Lizardo, president of the Philippine Internet Commerce Society and director of Yehey.com;
* “Freelance 101: Turning Passion to Profit – Blogging from Home” by Ms. Janette Toral, professional writer/blogger, search engine optimization (SEO) consultant and producer of digitalfilipino.com;
* “Alternative Income Opportunities on the Internet” by Ms. Aileen Apolo, consultant for the Philippines of Google; and
* “Green ICT for Sustainable Future: ICT Environmental Sustainable Practices” by Ms. Beau Baconguis of Greenpeace, all in the afternoon of September 29; and
* “Packaging Yourself for Success: How to Make Great First Impressions” by ePLDT Ventus; and
* “Don’t English Me, I’m Panic: The Importance of English Proficiency for Work” by Ms. Zsa Zsa Bacaling, marketing communications manager of Callbox, Inc., both in the morning of September 30.

The IT Quiz and Jingle Contest will be conducted in the afternoon of September 30.

Gaisano is one big structure nga dako potential kon maayo lang sila mag-idea kon paano nila i-utilize ang bug-os nga building.

Bayani's mansion is a mini theme park!

:bash:

Lapit na lang paskua, ang mansion ni Bayani ga igpat igpat man da kung Christmas. lol

Ang Payless Emporium ara sa third floor sang Rosario Arcade. Na nami-an ako da sang una kadto kay daw considered as one of the tallest building before kay sa third floor sila and pirme ko ga tika sa bintana nila for the view.

Hehe... Ikaw man. ;) Katilaw ka sakay kalesa sg una? :D

I've been to Quezon Street before but not when Payless was already there. :) And that was ages ago.

Abi ko anay ang puwesto sang Kuweba da sa tabok sang Ong Bun Building? Da bala subong sa puwesto sang Iloilo Art Furniture. :?

pigado ang planning sang Gaisano City. Actually, kung maayo sila magdumala, they can compete heads on with SM City and Robinsons. Galing kay daw pinabay-an lang nila eh. They have big structure pero wala ma-utilise sang maayo. Kanugon. Damo pa tani shops ma-open dira.

Ang na-obserbahan ko sa mga Gaisano Stores amo gid man ina sila. All the Gaisano in the whole country, including that in Manila. Sa Manila may ara sila, ang lugar subong sang Puregold nga sa ingod sang dating COD, Gaisano ina, then tanan nga branches, pati ang main nila sa Cebu, indi maayo ang maintenance. Guys,
I advise you to try "AMERICAN BURGER" (although I'm not sure of the name) sa Jalandoni Street, Jaro.
The size of their burger is just a bit smaller than Perri Tods but the flavor and taste is better. They've got different kinds of burgers like Mexican, American and Swedish....
They also have pasta...its a must try.

Ang minention nga mga cities nga ara sa top 10 or even above the rank of Iloilo are big cities in terms of area, so expect mo nga in terms of establishments, mas madamo ang mahandle nya. Other cities in the Visayas are also big cities and they have a strong tourism industry. But in the case of Iloilo, diin naghalin? You are right to say and even common sense na lang, these are indicators of economic improvement.

oh i see i may have looked over the land area size since Iloilo city is just 80 sq km the MOST (other says 56 sq km lang gani) that explains (not all though) that davao overtook cebu (though when we say cebu IMO its a collective term for cebu city-mandaue and lapu lapu)
makati and iloilo are somewhat the same in terms of land area but we know how far behind we are.

come to think of it even with these very limited resources and IMO very little from BIG industries and tourism we still mananged to be in the billionaires club. how much more if we can have them

Abi ko gane ang SM and even the Robinsons sang Iloilo gamay as compared to those in other cities, kay sang ara ko da mga two years ago, nabatian ko hambal sang isa nga indi taga-Iloilo nga gamay kuno kag indi manami as compared to the one in their place. The two were talking in local dialect. Sa research ko I found out nga daku sila gale outside Metro Manila. . . ako naman am-anting dulonggan ko eh.

 pride of place is cannot be measured in terms of area, sales, etc :lol::lol:

Guin review ko ang COA nga report, hehe. This is the breakdown of Iloilo City's Annual Income for 2007:

Internal Income (the power vested to LGUs to create their own sources of revenue and to levy taxes, fees, and charges)

Property Tax - P301.4M
Taxes on Goods and Services - P225.6M
Other Local Taxes - 7.6M
General Income Accounts - 96.7M

Internal Revenue Allotment - P395.6M (local government’s share of revenues from the national government. It is largely based on land area and population.)

Total - P1,027M
Iloilo get's most of its income from Internal Revenue specifically real property taxes and taxes on goods and services. IRA comprises only 38% of its total income, which is healthy because it is less reliant on the nat'l gov't for funds.

In any case, the operating income of an LGU cannot be the sole factor nga mahambal progressive ang isa ka lugar, IMO. May ara iban like poverty incidence, family income, unemployment rate, etc... A lot of LGUs enjoy huge incomes because dako guid man ila land area diri sa aton ang development sang city naka spill over na sa metro towns esp. Pavia and Oton kay limited ang land area sang city,

thanks for the research. now im "enlightened"
hopefully we can increase our annual income and be less dependent on the IRA

pero come to think of it if we compare PhP 8 billion (QC) with PhP 1 billion (Iloilo) it seems that it's not as farfetched if we compare the developments/infrastrucuture/etc/etc of QC and IC

pre marymart mall/amigo. ang orig sm delgado ang iya nga katyempo

^^I really admire Marymart Mall. Despite the tough competition brought about by SM, Marymart was able to rebrand itself, find a niche market and survive the competition.

pinaglumaan na ng panahon. when it opened it was the PLACE TO SEE AND BE SEEN. now dugang ka na lang sang NOT. one of it's main purposes now is just a bridge between sm delgado and robinsons esp ang orig marymart. and may mcdo and iloilo supermart pwede pa.

How's the crowd thesedays at Payless Plaza? Were they able to re/capture their patrons from their old site in Amigo Plaza?

havent been there for more than 10 years  and IMO their patrons from their amgio store don't bother going there

Ang Gaisano daw nahawa sang Marymart/Amigo. may identity crisis man sya? pasosyal nga indi man? i really hope some "ukay ukay" stores will move away from amigo esp that Salmo's boutique or something

Bluejay man lang ang nami sa amigo plus gibi? and tupad nya.

Marymart and Gaisano are somehow competing for the same market. The difference is Marymart is not as tacky as Gaisano. :colgate:
I was shocked to see the mishmash of columns the last time I was there.

at least both are not pretentious like amigo pero gaisano is gearing to be like one

wala sila abi sang daw Activity Center nga pareho sang SM City kag Rob nga malapad, or ang design sang mall (syempre early 1990's) indi pareho sa SM and Rob nga high-ceiling kag dako sang space mga lobby.

actually the old marymart has an activity area and high ceilinged man pero  lang ako.last time timing gid when i passed there. may sort of program and they even utilized the 2nd floor as dance area

thanks for giving your insight, Chymera. I believe you are right on this one.

All I can say is, there's still a huge potential and room for development for Iloilo City. Let's not settle with the issue of land area alone. We can do better on this ranking if we wnat to improve as much. Cities of Metro Manila have limited land area, too, yet they rank higher. The income may not be an indicator of progress but it will help with the revolving fund for the city and its projects. The very positive outlook of this result is the very minimal reliance of Iloilo City to the iRA, meaning we don't need the money from the national government to make our city's work. We have a huge and hefty income that we can sustain on our own in order to develop the city and move its projects forward.

Contrary to what you said I think it's a very big indicator of how well the city performed that year. you cannot expect a big income when you do not perform well.

Income for 2007 will be eventually used as "funds" for 2008 ( and so on) so the higher it is the better. It's actually IMO the result of the how the city performed, how well it managed its previous resources, how it collected the dues, and etc.

hopefully we can reached a billion without the IRA soon. or have we?

for a small city to have comparatively high property tax, it means property areas of the city are priced high. this could also be due in part to the high density that iloilo city has. i hope in years time, taxes on goods and services would really hike fast. because increased generation of taxes in this category implies a diversified or a gradually diversifying economy. good job chymera!

yup. though this can be both an advantage and a disadvantage to a city.
it can hinder or speed up growth. it then boils down to the city "dads" to make the city more attrative business wise (and visually too) so that not only we can attract more business to come in BUT most importantly INSPIRE local businessmen to "open their hands to grab more oppurtunities rather than keep it closed and get a trickle"

Where is this Payless Plaza? Since when did it open? Daw waay ko ya ka talupangud sini haw. :D

The Payless Plaza that I knew was in Amigo before it was refurbished. And prior to its transfer in Amigo Plaza, the original Payless store (I think it's called Payless Emporium) was at the building somewhere in front of YMCA along Iznart St and formerly occupied by Far East Bank and later BPI.

Its along Quezon street beside that "Bayani" mansion.almost opposite sang SEBA building sa mai Valeria street

Noynoy declares presidential bid
BY JEFFREY SALONGA
Malacañang Correspondent

MANILA – Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino has finally declared his intention to run for President next year under the Liberal Party.

The son of former President Corazon Aquino and martyred Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. made the announcement at the historic Club Filipino where his mother took her oath as President in 1986 following the People Power Revolution that ousted strongman Ferdinand Marcos.

“I accept the plea of the people. I accept the advice of my parents. I accept the responsibility to continue the fight for the people. I accept the challenge to lead in this fight…I will be there because of the people. I will stay there because of the people and hopefully, I will be true to my word to serve the people,” Aquino said.

The announcement was met with a thunderous applause by supporters and Liberal Party officials and members.

Aquino’s sisters – Ballsy, Pinky, Viel and Kris – were with him. They were all still wearing black, still mourning their mother’s death last month.

Calls for Aquino to run grew after the former President’s demise, forcing then Liberal Party presidential frontrunner Sen. Mar Roxas to withdraw his presidential bid.

In Malacañang, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, the Interim President of the ruling Lakas- Kampi CMD Party, downplayed Aquino’s announcement.

Ermita expressed confidence that the administration party would be able to match Aquino’s popularity.

On September 15, he said, the executive committee of the ruling party will hold its final executive meeting and possibly announce its standard bearer for the 2010 polls.

Ermita also downplayed rumors that several administration party members may bolt out and join Aquino’s group.

“It’s not really that important at the moment. Practical politics dictate that those who will transfer to another party believe that they are doing the right thing,” he said.

Ermita said there will be no loyalty check within the administration party.

“A loyalty check would make it appear we are in a state of panic, which we are not,” he stressed.

Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Gabriel Claudio said the administration party is focusing on three possible standard bearers – Vice President Noli De Castro, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Bayani Fernando./PN

IMO, he won't win in Iloilo (maybe R6 too!), and him sitting on King Raul and HRH Raul Jr.'s request (for a second congressional seat for the city) might just haunt him and bite him on his behind . Unfortunately, I don't see the "Aquino magic" in him.

though may reason gid man for the STOPPING OF ALL redistricting bills (not only for Iloilo City) but I think it wasn't the MUCH PUBLICIZED retreat or reflection that made him run but the "angelic devils" surrounding him telling him to rely his "victory" on two things, his surname AQUINO and KRIS. these two will make up 90% of his campaign. but if he wants to be VERY SURE he migth want to add another 9% by doing what MAR ROXAS was supposed to do. GET MARRIED  ang 1% will just be about his short political career

Ileco 1 covers member-consumers with PhilHealth

THE Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO) 1 enrolled its member-consumers to the National Health Insurance program. As such, it will shoulder the yearly premium contributions. Under the sponsored program, premiums are shared by the sponsor with the counterpart paid by the government through PhilHealth.

Initially, ILECO 1 prioritized the head of the family so that all the qualified immediate kin can also benefit the social health program.

Fifteen LGUs under its jurisdiction were tasked and became signatories to the tripartite memorandum of agreement forged with ILECO1 and PhilHealth. Their social welfare office identified indigent members screened through the conduct of means test. Part of the requirements was the passage of LGU resolutions adopting the program and every LGU supported the project.
Under the program, members with their dependents can avail PhilHealth benefits during the effectivity of their Philhealth cards. Presently, there are 694 PhilHealth ID cards turned over by PhilHealth to ILECO 1 and these will benefit around 4,000 beneficiaries this year.

Aside from the regular hospital benefits, sponsored members and dependents can avail free consultation and diagnostic procedures from rural health units, avail 1st to 4th normal delivery package from accredited maternity centers and free tuberculosis treatment from any of the accredited TB-DOTS centers. On top of this, a Capitation Fund will be doled out by PhilHealth to the LGUs – P300 per sponsored member to augment RHU medical finances in catering the needs of indigent PhilHealth patients. Phinma Group eyes Guimaras wind farm
By Francis Allan L. Angelo

THE Phinma Group is eyeing to complete a wind energy farm in Guimaras by 2012.

In his keynote speech during the Iloilo-Guimaras investment forum in Makati last week, Ramon R. Del Rosario Jr., Phinma president and chief executive officer, said the wind farm is part of their company’s investment thrusts in Iloilo-Guimaras area.
Del Rosario said they have completed the feasibility study of the Guimaras wind farm project which showed a 54-megawatt potential.

“Initially, we will commission an 8-MW wind farm in the town of San Lorenzo by 2012 even as we explore future sites in Salvacion and Sabang in Sibunag,” Del Rosario said.

The wind farm project will be undertaken by Phinma’s energy outfit, Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corp. which operates a 3.2-MW diesel-fired power plant in Guimaras.

All over the country, Trans-Asia is planning to install 400 megawatts (MW) of capacity in 38 wind farms around the country.

Del Rosario said the average investment for the wind energy projects is $2.5 million per MW.

Francisco Viray, Trans-Asia president and chief executive, said wind power is the most viable in terms of available renewable energy technologies.

“Globally I guess wind will be the next-generation clean technology in the market,” Viray said.

Viray added: “Because of the issue on climate change, and because globally there is now a direction towards using clean energy, then we have positioned ourselves by seeking aggressively opportunities in renewable energy, primarily wind.”

Viray said the expansion of their 8-MW facility in Guimaras will depend on infrastructure support in terms of transmission lines.

“If we can get NGCP (National Grid Corp. of the Philippines) to put up the cable as hopefully required by the Renewable Energy Act of 2008, then we will expand that to 54 MW, I guess in the next two years,” Viray said.

Viray said tariff and incentives issues should also be threshed out to boost wind energy projects in the country.

“With a properly defined FIT (feed-in tariff) and a properly defined government policy, wind will probably take the lead in terms of economic viability of RE projects,” he added.

The feed-in tariff system guarantees a fixed price of electricity to be purchased from renewable energy sources for 12 years. Another rule yet to be set is the energy portfolio standard to be determined by the Renewable Energy Board, which will include mandatory utilization of renewable energy in power grids.

The Energy department is aiming to double the country’s capacity in renewable energy to 9,000 MW in 10 years.

The Renewable Energy Law is offering fiscal incentives such as income tax holidays for the first seven years of operation, tax-free carbon credits from renewable energy projects, and tariff exemption and duty-free importation of machinery and equipment for the first 10 years of operation. Power from renewable energy sources is also exempt from the value-added tax.

The Philippines is considered as the world’s second-largest geothermal energy producer and the largest wind energy developer in Southeast Asia.

At present, the only wind power producer in the country is Northwind Development Corp., through a 33-MW wind farm in Bangui Bay, Ilocos Norte.

Though the wind farm supplies about 40% of Ilocos Norte’s power needs, it only accounts for 0.33% and 0.25% of the Luzon and national grids, respectively.

Phinma this year brought the University of Iloilo from the Lopez Group in a negotiation that spanned four years. (With reports from BusinessWorld)

Economy seen to grow 2.5% in Q3

THE country’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to grow by 2.5 percent in the third quarter and further accelerating to 4.5 percent in the last quarter of 2009, according to the latest forecast by First Metro Investment Corp. and University of Asia & the Pacific in its August issue of the “Market Call.”

“The relatively strong numbers in June and July confirm our expectation of clearly positive GDP growth figures for the second semester,” the report said.

Market Call noted that inflation remains muted, as other prices other than petroleum products, have been quite stable in the last three months.

“The only remaining risk is for a severe El Niño to hamper rice harvest in October to November, as crude oil prices are unlikely to make a strong upward move until mid-2010.”

The report also expects an improvement in tax take as the economy turns more positive in the second semester, and fiscal discipline will enable the national government to meet its P250 billion deficit target.

Exports are also likely to post positive growth in Q4, due to base effects and consistently rising monthly exports as East Asia especially China and the US recoveries gain traction. (mb.com.ph)

Aquino: ‘I accept the people’s call’
Volunteers’ offer ranges from P1 to txting

MANILA, Philippines—Cory magic was at work on Noynoy’s day.

Moments after Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III said, “I accept the call of the people” and formally declared his candidacy for president in the May 2010 election Wednesday at Club Filipino, a can was passed around in the historic clubhouse for a grass-roots fund raising drive—“Piso-piso for Noynoy.”

A similar initiative was launched in the cities of Davao, Iloilo, Naga and Cebu, supporters said.

Trans-Asia plans 400-MW wind capacity with $1-B investment
By MYRNA M. VELASCO
September 8, 2009, 4:50pm

Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corporation casts long-term blueprint for 400-megawatt wind power portfolio which will command an investment of approximately $1.0 billion.

According to Trans-Asia president and CEO Francisco L. Viray, the company is currently undertaking wind resource assessments in various parts of the country, mainly in Luzon and Visayas.

The company has applied with the Department of Energy (DoE) for pre-commercial contracts that allowed it to assess prospective 38 wind sites. Wind measurements are due in 10 priority areas this year.

The company’s foray into renewable energy is seen taking off with the proposed 8.0 MW wind power facility in San Lorenzo, Guimaras in the Visayas. This is targeted for commercial operation in 2012.

While wind assessment at the prospect area has already been concluded, the Trans-Asia executive noted “we are waiting on how the feed-in-tariff (FiT) and renewable portfolio standards (RPS)” for RE projects will take shape.

Once the San Lorenzo project is set on stream, Viray said this could be a ‘test project’ for setting in FiT for RE portfolios, as envisioned under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008.

The development of the facility has to start with 8.0 MW as transmission infrastructure can only accommodate that volume to be wheeled to Panay island.

The company said it will have to time its Guimaras wind capacity expansion according to the transmission development plan of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.

“We can expand the capacity up to 54 MW. After the 8.0 MW, we can plan the next phase after two years,” he said.

Apart from the Guimaras prospects, among the key areas being explored by Trans-Asia are those in Cagayan Valley in northern Luzon.

(With reports from BusinessWorld)

i think this is very complementary with the upcoming coal-fired power plant in Iloilo City. Iloilo City needs more power to energise the city and its investments. With more power coming from neighbouring Panay provinces and Guimaras, Iloilo City will definitely be an indirect receiver of them all. I hope all these power plants will be realised. If Lopez is keen to help Iloilo, they'll defnitely make true to their promise to sell some power from Palipinon Geothermal energy to electric cooperatives here in Iloilo City and Iloilo Province. We have so much more to look forward in the next few years. Hence the opening and coming of more investments in the city and province. We are slowly addressing the issue of power problem, which become the biggest hindrance in our city and province developments. Once all these power sources will be realised, expect more investments to come in Iloilo.:banana::banana::banana:

though may reason gid man for the STOPPING OF ALL redistricting bills (not only for Iloilo City) but I think it wasn't the MUCH PUBLICIZED retreat or reflection that made him run but the "angelic devils" surrounding him telling him to rely his "victory" on two things, his surname AQUINO and KRIS. these two will make up 90% of his campaign. but if he wants to be VERY SURE he migth want to add another 9% by doing what MAR ROXAS was supposed to do. GET MARRIED  ang 1% will just be about his short political career

i have a feeling noynoy will REGRET this decision

knwoing how pinoys "vote" based on the publicity. surely it will have a big effect on villar.

 gani man.

-------------

by the way do people really believe a SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN?
there are only 4 things need to make one

1. the official campaign paper (where signatures are to be placed)
2. different colored pens (red, blue, black, etc)
3. a collection of YEARBOOKS :lol::lol::lol:
4. volunteers to print names and invent signatures
again, I'm a Villar supporter .. thru and thru gid ini iya. hahahaha

Why go with this signature campaign? This is plain stupidity. After signature campaign comes piso-piso para kay NoyNoy. I really could not pathom what they want to convey. That people will support NoyNoy by doing this? Signature campaign will never be the decision-making propaganda for any candidates. Baliw lang gumagawa nito. I'm saddened with what's happening with NoyNoy. This is a desperate move to collect pity from Filipinos. I don't know how Pinoys will take it but I am not positive at all. I think he need more than signature and texts ... he needs to act like he is a true leader. In his last few years in Senate, Noynoy maybe had only one or two bills passed. How bad can you get as a senator to have those desperate two. Meaning, he's not too keen for any leadership or assertiveness at all.

IMO, he won't win in Iloilo (maybe R6 too!), and him sitting on King Raul and HRH Raul Jr.'s request (for a second congressional seat for the city) might just haunt him and bite him on his behind . Unfortunately, I don't see the "Aquino magic" in him.
totally agree. I don't think he'll get any support from Iloilo City albeit Iloilo as a whole. I'm sure King Raul will make his life miserable for him here in Iloilo.:lol::lol: The old man is vindictive in nature. And this is his time. hahahahaha. I have the feeling that Iloilo will support Villar, the region will simply follow thru. Unless he'll promise heaven and earth, Western Visayas will rally behind Villar for Presidency. we actually don't know the exact plan of Ayala Land. To be fair if the land area is around 18-25 hectares man lang, I rather have them as a commercial site, ie mall development. Siguro kung mga 50 up ti puwede gid sa residential. Anyhow, kung ano gid man plano nila, as long as the city and province will benefit from it, I fully support it. Pero ang Technohub nila sigurado na kay nag-launch na sila sa INvestment Forum and may ara pa sila nga address. Good for Ayala Land. They're very much welcome in Iloilo.:cheers::cheers:

ambut kung lusot ina sa San Miguel kay kung iya atubang Providence, indi na siguro. Ang gina-mean siguro nga lusot sa San Miguel ang lugar or road leading San Miguel town lang. Pero kung puwede nga dako siya and malusot siya hasta San Miguel, mas maayo gid tani eh.

Very well said. I just hope both sides would not hurl insults at each other like before and like Bernie would say, just maintain friendly competition. Without competition, there would be no dynamism.

Some of us have matured well enough to give guidance as to how we conduct ourselves in this forum but we can only say so much. In the end, each person's values will guide him as to what's proper and what's not.

Kanami siya. I'm proud of Fort Bonifacio -- Global City is indeed beautiful.
However, I am a Makati baby and I would not settle for less than Taguig.:lol::lol:
Thanks to you. I hope you'll make one for Iloilo, too.

I'll try to make one sometime soon out of my collection of photos.

ga-expand na ang Carlitos. Maayo gid !!!
Target opening sini siguro before the year ends.

I like the Carlitos resto in Pavia. Tani ginpadako pa gid nila. And yes, it's worth driving your way to Pavia for Carlitos. I hope they'll open open near airport area pa gid.

gani no?target nila ang customers sa airport. And I am sure its better than Bayani Cafe outside the departure area.

when I heard bayani, something comes in my mind .. somebody actually polluted my mind about bayani in the past. Oh my ..

Yes, maayo gid kung may ara sila resto sa may airport. I'm sure anyone who misses to buy something whilst roaming around the city or province could get something kung may ara sila resto and pasalubong center sa sulod sang airport.

CSC names 3 Ilonggos as Pag-asa, Dangal ng Bayan awardees

Three civil servants from Western Visayas made it to the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) roster of outstanding public officials and employees, to be awarded on September 17 at the Malacañan Palace simultaneous with the highlights of the 109th Philippine Civil Service anniversary celebration.

Two employees from the regional field unit of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) have been declared as CSC Pagasa awardees. The award is given to “individual or group of individuals for their outstanding contributions that directly benefit more than one department though not of such extraordinary or exceptional degree to merit the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award.”

CSC announcement No. 55 series of 2009 named the awardees from Western Visayas as Social Worker Officer III Eduardo L. Guevarra and Social Welfare Officer V Rosario A. Silla.

DSWD assistant regional director Joel P. Galicia said the award does not only mean honor for the office and for the awardees but it is also a manifestation of the kind of service that is being offered by the agency.

Guevarra has been at the forefront of various projects and programs for the youth specially those who are not in school.

“Western Visayas is now the youth development region of the country. We have been hosting annual gatherings of youth because of the various initiatives that were introduced by Guevarra,” Galicia said.

Meanwhile, Silla was responsible for the Regional Rehabilitation Center for the Youth (RRCY) based in Guimaras. Under her turf, the RRCY has turned into an excellent rehab facility that accommodates youthful offenders.

On the other hand, CSC announcement No. 56 series of 2009 S/Insp. Lourdes Banzuelo of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) will be conferred the Outstanding Public Officials and Employees Award or the Dangal ng Bayan Award.

The award is given to “individual for performance of extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of his/her observance of the eight norms of behavior provided under Republic Act No. 6713, otherwise known as the “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees” Commitment to Public Interest, Professionalism, Justness and Sincerity, Political Neutrality, Responsiveness to the Public, Nationalism and Patriotism, Commitment to Democracy, and Simple Living.”

CSC Director IV, Atty. Rodolfo Encajonado said since the award was conceptualized, Western Visayas has already produced 30 outstanding public officials and employees.

The awarding ceremony next week also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Honor Awards Program (HAP).

The awardees also received recognition from the CSC field office 6 during the recognition program for regional awardees here Tuesday. (PNA)

Freska Ilonggo Seafood and Inasal

Freska is a full service dining restaurant that brings out the authentic Ilonggo home cooking. The vision eventually evolved into bringing families together to enjoy Ilonggo food at a whole new level. At Freska, expect nothing but original Ilonggo cuisine made modern by Chef Pauline Gorriceta-Banusing. Freska currently has three branches in Metro Manila. The first branch located at the Food Village of Tiendesitas, Pasig opened it’s doors to the public in 2005. The second branch which located at Katipunan Avenue, Blue Ridge, Quezon City opened in 2006. The most recent Freska branch is located at the 2nd Level of the Promenade Mall, Greenhills Shopping Center, San Juan. In Iloilo City, Freska is located at the Smallville Arcade along Diversion Road.

Not known to many, Iloilo is where popular dishes- such as the Lapaz Batchoy, Pancit Molo, Guimaras Mangoes, originated. Apart from this, Iloilo is also known for its bountiful seafood such as Roxas Oysters, Scallops, and Diwal (Angel Wings). At Freska, you can savor these Ilonggo dishes plus other Ilonggo favorites, Kadios Baboy Langka (KBL), Chicken Inasal, Chicken Binakol, and its signature dish, the Managat (Visayan Snapper).

though Guimaras was part of Iloilo before but it still is GUIMARAS that is synonymous with mango.
But Iloilo has great tasting mangoes too.

Hopefully WE should learn to give credit where it is due.

i don't know what those blue "thing" are for.. :)

This is disappointing. I thought they revamped the whole look of the building. How come it is partially done? Hayz. Half-baked development.

Another one. I thought they cladded the whole building. Yung G part lang pala. I hope they can improve the look of the whole structure.

Impossible to demolish Jaro Belfry. By law, it is protected by the city ordinance that also protects Calle Real CBD...since the belfry itself is part of the six district plazas as per ordinance.

Ah that house. I do hope they won't demolish it.
Funny but everytime I see that house or look at a picture of it, a museum comes to my mind. :D
